Why don't you like guild wars 2?

corpsegankcorpsegank Member UncommonPosts: 38

I want you to post some things you don't like in guild wars 2, you don't necessarily have to not like the game, just what makes you not so interested. And just to avoid any confusion from the title, i love the game and what Anet are trying to accomplish with it, but every game has something someone doesn't like.

Guild wars 2 fanboys are welcome, hating is legal :)

I personally don't like that they give you a set of skills based on your weapon which you can not change, i'm ok with every weapon having it's own skill set, but maybe more of a variety. For example 10 skills instead of the original 5, and you can mix them up as you wish, that would be great.

(Yes the game isn't even released, yet who gives a sh*t)

    Still no rising attack.

It's pretty early in Europe, and late in the US of A. Probably the worst time to post.

    Stuff I don't like:

    - No excitement of player danger in the open world; AI and agro range are predictable and make for a carebearish and eventually boring main game world for the likes of me. Dynamic content can't change that; it will only serve to make the pve gameplay more entertaining (untill you know every event cycle by heart).

    - Cash Shop: impacts the consistency and realism of a game regardless of P2W or not + you never know how a shop might evolve over time / sliding slope scenario.

    - No seamless world (apparently plenty of loading screens to sit through).

    - No mounts but teleporting. Where's the "open world" in that?

    - No dueling (unless I missed an update)

    - Another non-existing death penalty game? Doesn't have to be full loot to me, but at least make me want to avoid death at all costs. That makes for much more thrilling moments.

    - No building / territory claimage, etc, in the main game world; only preconstructed rides / themepark content.

    - Overall handholding / player conflict avoidance philosophy. Phased harvesting nodes and stuff. (Which simply is the result of a pvp-less main game world without player made pvp solutions to conflicts).

Stuff I am pretty curious about:

    - WvWvW: could be complete win or utter fail. Hoping that it will be large and varied enough with plenty of single player and small group pvp opportunities even when your side is losing. Pitching servers against eachother for extended times is a brilliant idea (apart from the iffy lore justification, hehe).

    - Exploring content / puzzles / rare dynamic events: really hoping the world's full of those. Sheer amount can offset "preconstructioness".

    - Graphics, sounds and immersion. From what I've seen so far it is a very purty game indeed.

    - Mini games: drunken brawling and stuff. Sounds fun.

    - Multiple modes in dungeons.

    - Underwater content.

    - Itemization with random mods (like GW1 / Diablo, etc).

    - Clever grinding and crafting: getting the most out of a certain zone and being able to sustain yourself with that without the need for micro transactions.

I mostly like what i see so far, as for liking or disliking the actual game, far to early for me to say either way, hehe, haven't played it yet. """Rove the sig Pony!!!!!"""

I sign DarkPony's list. And for a sidenote, it is indeed funny, that a game with that much contra points is most probably the first MMO since around 6 years i will most probably play. It says a lot about the MMOs the last 6 years(or even longer).

My only concern has been the real money trading which puts me off other than that what game itself offers is something i can only discover once i play the game.

So what i dislike about GW2 is RMT.

Weightlessness of the attacks and oversized poor quality effects.

Those two things have actually been the main deal breaker for me at the moment, every video just pisses me off when I see them.

My most important reason is first part of gw, i didnt like look of characters and  style of gameplay. It was nothing there what i would describe as totally bad but  simply that game didnt catch me. It is just that feeling ''game is not for me''. And second part is f2p-man i hate f2p and when all games start to use that kind of  payment i quit with mmo .

Things i dont like so far:
PvP might turn out to be mandatory.
Community might turn out to be greatly immature
Ability to use Megaphones (Megaphones in general)
Character creation (it could be done better IMO)

No excitement of player danger in the open world

What is one's cons, may be other's pros :D

Main MMO at the moment: Guild Wars 2
    Waiting for: Pathfinder Online

since its not been released yet and I have not played it I don't like or dislike it .

I am thru with hyping up games and just wait and see nowadays.

I DID NOT LIKE THE 1st game. BUT i did play it for a short time to realize that i was not a game for me.

    LVL cap was lvl 20(GW)

I DID NOT LIKE THE 1st Game

    Way too much PVP (GW)

Im sure it will all be mostly  the same just better  looking then the 1st game.

They are not going to change the that much in the game to make it a real MMO. If they do they will piss off way to many of there loyal fans and They are rabid fans.

BUT time will tell how many fans they piss off by changing to much in GW2 from what everybody liked in GW1

I don't like the level of excitement this game has and the holier-than-thou community I've seen sprung in some places. They tend to travel in packs.

I have an aversion to anything that has a too high level of hype/excitement/etc.

I try to avoid it until it's died down or I avoid the more official websites where the sycophants dwell at the start.

the thing i dont like about GW2 is, it even welcomes players from other mmo communities that i dont want to play with. Not that i care much but i dont want them to affect the game and devs, turning the game into a wow-like mess.

    - Player housing will become available but first after the release cause its still in development

Additionaly there will be guild halls, halls of monuments and other things a player can enjoy.

    - did you watch any videos to see how they actively attacked someone and how the targeting system actually was?

    - actually a good thing but to each its own.

    - matter of taste

    - because it would be gamebreaking in pvp and would overpower the thief class.

Show me a game in which a assasin or thief had unlimited invinsibility.

    Exactly, NONE.

I propably have a bit more positive look about things but pretty much this. I'm not very convinced about the "open world" filled with teleporters making it more of an open lobby where I can just click an event on a list to get to, after I've explored the map.

Also I'm worried the open world will be mainly the same as other themeparks considering the purpose of it, not to be a "living breathing world" to immerse your self in, not only because of the quick travel to everywhere, but also because it looks like a set of stages for certain level ranges to just farm exp through quests and events, untill you are at max level where the "old" areas have very little meaning to you. Anyway, it's just a concern and perhaps I will be positively surprised, sadly the lobbiness with teleports are reality, oh well, not a gamebreaker.

Overall I'm very positive about this game, but very careful not to get hyped too much, the flaws in this game considering my personal tastes could be more severe than I anticipate, or in the best scenario not so much. Hard to say before having some hours in game. Thumbs up for the game anyway.

    Way to much pvp? O_o

The PvP took play only either through the guild hall (guild wars or faction wars) IF you wanted it or you had the possibility to enter one of the 5 different arena types and play pvp if you wanted.

The pve part was actually huge with there games and two expansions (one was a free update the other was the eye of the north.

That would be so for melee because of the close proximity of the skill and the mob. AoEs work without having target as well (like in every other game) but check out the ranger class.

He cannot attack something using his bow without it auto targetting it.

Hence, it's still very much tab target based.

I have to say this is something that worries me too. I saw this much hype once for a game here on mmorpg.com. The game itself reached 9 on the hype meter, perhaps higher I can't remember exactly. People were shot down in that particular games forum but all over the site if they dared disagree that it was going to be amazing. It was to the best of my knowledge, one of the FIRST WoW killers in development though it's possible GW1 held that title in expectations first in people's minds. The game was called Dark and Light. Maybe some of the people here are too young to have been around then I don't know. But for people who remember it, let it be a lesson regarding expectations in game development and actual product. Having said that I have played GW1 and I am SURE GW2 won't be as bad as DnL which was the closest thing you can get to vaporware for a game that kind of had a release I can think of. BUT the borg like mentality of some of the followers of DnL and also here is just beyond rediculous. People have opinions, if you don't agree with someone's opinion that's cool. We aren't a hive mind. Learn to adapt to people who aren't just like you. It might help you out in your personal life too. Unless people actually run  around in real life telling everyone they are "butthurt" which I doubt as you would look quite stupid. To be honest I've watched this with some amusement, less amusement when I see people being practically hunted down elsewhere on the forum to be ridiculed even more. It's just dumb people and doesn't in any way resemble normal behaviour and in the end chases away potential costumers of NCSoft and Arena Net. You may not care but I bet THEY do.. Just my two cents image
