My problem with GW2 is it seems aimed at ultra casual and bad players by not having gear progression
You are serious arent you?? Even if this is joke, it is not funny. How can one be bad with having bad gear, both in PvP and PvE. I am sorry, but this game is actually not aimed at elitist people and GS scumbags. If this game live up to its philosophy, the skill will determine who is bad, and who is good player, not the resilience rating/stats/whatever the green text on your gear is.
Because this is "Why dont you like GW2" thread, it is ok that you wrote your reason, but i hope that people like you will not be greater part of community. If that would be case, the game may catter to the likes of you, and that would be reason for me not to like it.
And please no 'carrot on a stick' or GS hunt that was WoW and the likes. I am loathing of it.
Main MMO at the moment: Guild Wars 2 Waiting for: Pathfinder Online
My problem with GW2 is it seems aimed at the ultra casual and bad players by not having gear progression. With no carrot you end up with lazy players who simply do not play. The RvR sounds interesting and even exciting but the game seems greatly overhyped and aimed at those players who do not have the pateince, skill or desire to play MMOs.
LMAO many people on these forums would consider that a plus because no gear progression means players have to be skillfull to be successful. Like in pvp for instance. How many ultra bad pvpers do you think farm points from their deaths in matches to go buy whole suits of gear and then come back with so much resistance they almost never die again. think about that. No gear progression means that pretend elitest jerks in these games can't discriminate due to someone not having a single piece of gear on as well. It's a plus both ways.
Again, that's great for the competitive e-sport players, but terrible as an RPG design where the ability to continually develop a character is very important.
how hard is it for people to learn that the development doesn't have to be gear based for it to be fun and constructive, the development happens with YOU and the choices you make in your chosen storyline, if you're constantly replacing gear guess what, that's not development that's having to change out a piece of gear every patch which is boring as hell and gives way too much power to the elitest jerks who ruined LK with gearscore in the first place, doesn't do a single thing for character development other then here's a new carrot.

Don't worry, they were never the majority to begin with, they were just catered to because they started claiming that games like WoW were too soft on people and everyone wanted Vanilla WoW back. It's the whole drive behind this minority of players to keep others from enjoying games that are directly made for the casual majority and find ways to throw wrenches into the works at every turn, so they can machinema their results and post them on youtube.

That is just not true, not even close.
Its the lazy players who want to win PvP with uber gear, instead of teamwork and skill. You get that gear by raiding, which is about as exciting as watching grass grow and just as easy. There is nothing hard about raiding, only time consuming.

Zippy Zippy once again you seem to have mixed up grinding and raiding with ability and skill ...Casual players are the folks that are the heart of the game the fact that they say little and brag less just speaks for their maturity not the effort and skills they put into a game .
I don't like how ANet hasn't released all the information about gw2 yet. Because of that my real "Don't Like" list will be full of false claims and speculations. i.e "There will be no player housing." " It's only tag target based" "The game is just hack n slash and will require no brain activity" "WoW clone"

Going back to the days of paper and pencil games, RPGs have centered around character development through actual changes and improvements to characters. It's one of the most basic design concepts applicable to RPGs. More importantly, that's a large part of the experience players are looking for when they choose to play an RPG.
It's just my opinion, of course, but it is backed up by history in this very genre. AoC tried the same thing. When people discovered that, once hitting level cap, there was no real way to continue character development or even differentiate their character from others of the same class, they considered their character "dead", as in no longer capable of development, and stopped playing them. The hue and cry was deafening - so much so that Funcom changed it about a year later. It was just one of the reasons that game was considered a failure at the time.
"Learning to play better" with static characters is a hallmark of e-sport arena games / FPS games. At a fundamental level, it runs counter to the precepts of RPGs.

Time does not equal skill.

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
