I play swtor about 10 hours a week, so I am not a hard core player, I have a main character at lvl 30 and several alts and i really like the game, 1.2 is not going to change my mind one way or the other. I do hope that Bioware is working on an expansion that would make the space game a intergal part of the game and not just a mini game, I think you may see that this Christmas
to be honest, this game was a alot of fun leveling. when i got to max level a few things set in that bothered me.
it doesnt "feel" like an mmo. the pvp was the only thing i did, after a while it just got boring, picking up armaments and doing warzones, there was no incentive. I played wow for a long time, i don't want the same thing. Star wars galaxies as bad as it was offered an alternative playstyle with crafting and housing.
I am in no way saying swg was a great game.
What i feel though, is that this game is an insult to fans of star wars. There is no socialization, no "world" , no "galaxy". the space combat was written for pre-teens. The game is very shallow, once you progress past the story you wonder is this really "star wars".
this game is not star wars , it is a lesser version of a much larger mmo, with less mmo aspects. Everything is on rails, and while this may appeal to some, it doesnt to me. If i could do things in game, to build a ship, or a place on a planet, to socialize. If i could be a part of the "galaxy" as an entertainer, or craftsman, i'd stay.
1.2 offers nothing that will drive me back. I do not miss swtor, i read and watch , wishing they'd make this a game worthy of the ip.
1.2 will not bring me back, mainly because there is nothing new to do in the game with 1.2.
The poll i felt was was to slanted in favor of negative choices against SWTOR, while i am not a fan of the game i felt that the poll was far from objective.
I hope the people who enjoy SWTOR get to continue to play the game for years to come, my worry is that since its owned by EA it will be cancelled sooner than most fans of the game expect.
I'm playing SWTOR atm and enjoying it, probably because I take it for what it is, not for "what it could/should have been".
Patch 1.2 will make no difference to my decision to sub or not. I very much doubt that it will be a "make or break" patch, very few of them are. People that are on the verge of leaving the game will not be swayed by 1.2. Those that are still happily playing will mostly welcome the changes, and continue to enjoy the game.

Oh dear, someone using common sence on this website. You do know you are in the wrong place . . . right?
"If half of what you tell me is a lie, how can I believe any of it?"
I unsubbed in mid January and will never come back, as the lead systems designers had plenty of time to make their proof about their ability to work on some new mechanics, but nothing came out.
SWTOR for me wasn't a bad game, it was just yet another WoW clone, securizing a userbase by copying WoW mechanics, and putting every bit of effort into fancy (dialogs, graphics, etc). It's not a new game, it's a reskinning of an old game. You can't hold MMO vets attention with that.

I've defended the game for a while now but I'm going to be honest. After about three months, I'm just not having fun anymore. It's a combination of a lot of things but 1.2 is going to have to be pretty awesome to keep me interested and while I think there are going to be some pretty significant improvements, I don't think they are going to be "Game Changers" for those of us who are feeling a little burnt out by the game.

Hahaha, I have these forums to thank for my current enjoyment of the game
I only started playing SWTOR recently, and all the wailing and hatred in this forum since launch had given me a very low expectation of SWTOR. So, ironically, when I finally DID start playing, I was pleasantly surprised by what I found !
Admittedly, I have no interest in PVP in SWTOR, so the issues with that part of the game are irrelevant to me.

Ironically, while I am pretty good at PvP in most games, I find it boring for the most part. Mostly because it is open world PvP that interests me and it is almost always bad. You always seem to end up with unbalanced sides and while that is part of the dynamic, it gets tiresome always being the "short" side. So eventually the population turns over such that the "short" side becomes the non-existant side. Let's face it, this has absolutely NOTHING to do with how a game is designed though. The blame for bad world PvP most often can be blamed almost squarely on the laps of players, not designers (especially in this game with it's mirrored classes). It is different for Warzone style PvP, but until this game, I always found Warzones to be a little too contrived to be any fun. BioWare has changed that a little by adding story to the mix, but after 50 or 60 times, it is just old. Strangely, that repitition while doing Flashpoints and Operations does not bother me very much. It might be because I actually see a sort of progression, ie - changing landscapes, that I never see in a Warzone.

Im playing a scroundrel in pvp and 1.2 looks to bad for me and the playstyle i like to play, we didnt need a 12 sec cd on backblast and when i saw it in the patchnotes i cancelled my account, no way im gonna go back either when they can piss on thier customers like that... releasing such a POS when alot of good games is comming out is just retarded and i hope everyone jumps ship... Set sail for fail Tortanic.

Props for playing a smuggler. So many douches play the mirror thinking that's the only thing that exists. You're new to mmo's tho if you're quitting because "your" class gets nerfed.
Nice to have new people around. Sorry to see you go. Can I have your stuff?
I never paid for the next month after my first free month ended. I was almost burn out on the game after all the BETA testing... I plan to come back this weekend and pay for a month to see if the new patch is any good. I will probably play for a month or two and quit again, I always do that. The only MMO that ever kept me around for years was Shadowbane back in 2003-06? I played that for 3 years straight but sandbox/player driven world/politics make gameplay interesting. SWTOR is a good game but it will probably be F2P by next year.
1.2 is sort of make or break for me. I keep hearing the same in game from a lot of people. What's sad about that is the sheer size and scale of that patch. Which, pretty much ensures it will require several patches to make things as they are intended. But, I think that has everything to do with the sheer scale of what needs to be changed and fixed yesterday. They should have waited to release or already been making major changes/fixes in chunks a while ago.
I am writing an article about patch 1.2 in SWTOR and I need some information from you guys. (I won’t even link the blog so as not to be accused of blog spam.) What I need to know is how many of you are still playing SWTOR only because you are waiting for patch 1.2 to come out--or have quit until 1.2 and if it’s not great plan on leaving again? If you absolutely love SWTOR that is fantastic, but I'm not looking for your demographic for this. Thank you for reading though.
I really only need to know if you are playing or plan on playing based entirely on patch 1.2 so if we can keep it to that it would help me greatly
Thanks all!

** I've added "This game is awesome and I'm not leaving anytime soon" just to see if people read the post. Clearly thats not the information i'm looking for.
Then why was it an option in the poll? Just curious.
Unsubbed yesterday. 1.2 will net more lost subs than gained... imo - read the class sections of the official forums.
They cant even add a 1990s Xwing vs Tie fighter multiplayer functionality at launch? Actually, there are no wars, no sub factions, no point to guilds other than grouping for ez raids.
Given the simplistic graphics, the engine even requires massive instancing....
Let me add, fleet sucks. What a drab place for a player hub.
Many say this is themepark, it's a funnelpark.
Yeah, even despite the many choices this game is still incredibly linear in just about every way. Then when you hit level 50 the game is essentially over. Raiding is pointless and easy. PvP is pretty much impossible if you've not spent levels 40-50 preparing your gear and even then its a shot in the dark.
Sorry but SWTOR has lost me completely. Mists of Pandaria has all my attention now.
Left the game in January and will never return - there is nothing they could do to bring me back. Biggest MMO disappointment ever for me, stole the crown from Vanguard.

But you can grow hallucinagenic mushrooms on them.....
I reckon it will be F2P by Christmas...
i grew up on star wars , was born in 1977.

1.2 will bring snobs back. People who really don't remember great games in the first 6 months. SWTOR is a keeper. I'm impressed every day I log in.

This could go down as Biowares biggest failure.
But hey, launched smoothly.
