The fact that it does have crafting, you can also be a "caster" or a "pet user".You can also inter-change the "Class" you want to play at any time. So if you want to be Kung-fu guy and then be hacker guy you can simply unload the Kung-Fu codes and load up the hacker codes and go back to work.Major down side to Matrix online is the combat system. It is about as close to turn based combat as it gets.thematrixonline.warnerbros.com/web/live/news_display.jsp?id=020805_training
This is a link to thier training vids, see for yourself. The speed of combat is so much slower than the movies would lead you to believe. The newest thing is that they want you to pay $15 a month, which is fairly standard, AND they want to run in game ads for other WB promotions. There is also talk of magazines from other companies. Now this in and of itself isnt so bad, especially in the matrix which is supposed to be like the current real world, but that they are charging you AND making money from ads. The ads obviously use resources so this adds to the lag in the game, which is substantial by thier minimum standards and I have heard others who are not so minimum complain of lag. Now I dont mind ads in this kind of game but I darn sure dont want to pay full price to see them.Anyways, this is just my 2 cents worth, the game rates about a 6 out of 10 at most.

I am not sure how turn based combat is bad, its about the most effective way to handle MMO combat unless you really dont want stats or character development to count for much.

I have been tinkering with the beta for a few weeks now, I have seen the "real world" adds here and there and I actually liked them. I am not sure what your definition of resources is, but no, they wouldn't use anymore resources then a fake add to fill a billboard would, its just a texture and they way they have been placed into the game as far as I have seen has been quite tasteful. They are less in your face then Need for Speed Underground 2 which is FULL of them, but still, its fitting in the game and not hindering my gameplay.

Lag has become a very generic term in later years, especially with MMO's. I am not sure how a texture that contains a real world advertisement is going to cause more internet latency over a fake one. I suppose they could leave billboards and such out of the game completely, but is it really going to feel like a dirtied up city then?

I run the game full tilt, max resolution with all the effects turned on and this game gives me NO lag on a standard cable modem at all. As a matter of fact it runs VERY well and can definately be supported on older systems. The graphics are slightly antiquated in some ways, in other ways they are rather fitting and still impressive to look at. They did a good job of capturing a style with the graphics engine and textures.

The game doesn't exact grab me and make me want to play it, as a matter of fact after the beta I may never play it again, but I can't say much bad about it other then the left in the dark feeling I get from the time to started it, through the tutorial and even still, without using outside sources for information about the game. Anyways, I don't want to go to far outside the scope of the OP, but addressing Kjarl's issues, I don't really see the issues he is concerned with, but thats just me.
