What the heck, I can't enjoy other games after TERA.

I don't get it at all.

Tera doesn't have the most awesome featurelist out of MMOs coming out, but after playing four CBT events, nothing else seems to compare.

I recently tried RaiderZ and Dragon Nest (both frequently mentioned F2P comparisons), along with Path of Exile, and another mmo (in CBT with NDA). But I can't stand playing these games more than an hour before they bore me to tears. I can't seem to capture the same excitement I had playing TERA or same awe when looking around the world. I can't even imagine playing SWTOR anymore. The combat is just so lackluster, and I don't feel like I'm constantly fighting for my life. I can't describe the feeling I had when I took down my first basilisk and barely backstepped out of the way as he charged me. It was crazy exciting. Fun is an understatement.

Now,  I'm wary that TERA may be ONLY combat, which sucks because eventually I do get tired of playing. After several hours, my hands feel worn and I feel drained. But then if I play any other MMORPGs, they just aren't satisfying viscerally. It's an awkward place to be. I hope they add more to the crafting system and add some fluff features like fishing etc.

Was the same for me....going back to world of warcraft...what a joke. just not the same, altho i cant tell if ur trolling for april fools or if ur serious...im 100% serious....TERA is gonna be amazing when it releases...and if graphics are already amazing in the CBT...imagine when we get Anti Aliasing and Anisotropic customization...

While I like the game, it'll take at least a month before I can safely say that it is a good game or not. The first few hours in an mmorpg can be deceptive. Some start slow but evolve to greatness (EVE comes immidiately to mind), while others start great and fall flat to their face in the month period (SW:TOR comes to mind).

Where does Tera fit? No idea yet.

  • Odinthedark1Odinthedark1 Member Posts: 330

But the one difference is...i was the same when swtor hit as you said...but i could easily go back to world of warcraft...and did so. Tera i find myself not even able to log into my WoW account as i know id be bored the minute i did so after playing for 4 years. its like....all my lasts hopes are placed in TERA and i just get that feeling....this will be the one MMO that doesnt disappoint...for me at least.

After CBT2 for TERA I quit WoW because fighting in it just bored me. :/

I am only going to pay for one subscription MMO at a time.

It's called the Honeymoon period of a game. It's nothing new, you will eventually get over it when the next big hyped game comes out.

I felt the same way after trying a GW2 demo.  I still feel that way, after 2 years.

I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.

Haters gunna hate, your post history shows a trail of loathing for TERA, which you never really back up with any evidence you merely build straw mans and derail threads.

Your opinion has been made worthless by your own doing

umm .. ok, no idea why you jumped to that since what I said is the truth. It has nothing to do with my opinion of TERA or not. Find it funny you complain about what I do when you're the one being the hater here.

I agree. I haven't pre-ordered yet but I haven't played anything else since CBT4. Had way too much fun on my slayer.

I doubt I'm going to get D3, have the beta it's meh and it isn't going to hold my interest for long. It's really only betweenTERA and GW2 and since TERA will be out well before GW2, I'll most likely pre-order soon.

Even if it fails in the long run I'll get my moneys worth as it will still be fun for a couple months at least. My only reason for not getting it yet is due to summer coming and I don't really play a lot during the summer. ~_~

    I know the phenomenon.

But TERA isn't one of those hyped games. Most of us who tried TERA weren't even hyped at all about this game.

Not saying this game is 100% awesome, it's a little bit to soon for that, but I think many would agree that it's much better than expected at least.

Gamers who suffered from the honeymoon effect played AoC, SWTOR, Warhammer, STO etc. Big names that were suposed to be awesome. Well, SWTOR still may be awesome in it's own way.

I loved the combat in Tera, but that's about it. Reminded me of Spellborn but that game died awhile ago.

Hopefully Tera lives on, it's good to see something different out there.

The honeymoon effect isn't all based around the hype. It can also be based around new games in general cause people aren't bored of seeing it yet. Which is why I used to call it new game smell instead of the honeymoon period but whatever helps people fool themselves in believing that this time will be different.

Sector how is the view from way up there? You have such a condescending attitude as if you know better than everyone else, it gets rather annoying. You also can not accept the fact someone may like something more than you, I get what you're saying with the honeymoon period, but seriously, you don't need to bring it up to everyone and constantly tell people "X game is not as good as you think it is because I am more knowledgeable than you and can tell you why it isn't".

I have to agree with the OP. Tera is definitely fun, wether it is the combat or just the fact it's something fairly new to the MMO industry makes me want more. It really sucks that people have to compare Tera to GW2, they are both very different games, but some people make it into a war whether to chose one or not. Both are and will be very good MMOs that will find a solid fanbase, it will be unknown if one is better or worse than the other, frankly, I do not even care. Back to the point at hand, the combat for Tera as of right now is great and I hope that in the future they implement battles that require decent strategy to complement such great combat.

One can also get to the point where their constant negetivity becomes, well, constant. Any enjoyment they would have gotten out of something is replaced by a bitter jadedness they themselves put there. I'd rather look forward to things :)

Besides, it's not as though people don't keep track of what was good or bad about their past MMO experiences. There is a reason I'm looking forward to TERA. It offers a combination of play I haven't seen in a while.

Just not worth my time anymore.

It's not my problem how you read my attitude. Unfortunately, while you may not like what I have to say, I have every right to put my opinion on a forum meant for the purpose of discussion. So, seriously, you don't need to bring up everytime that you have a problem with my negative opinion cause it happens to be against a game that you happen to like because you believe that you are entitled to some kind of restriction from opinions that are against yours.

I just don't understand it though, why TERA? It's the board 90% of your posts make their way to, only other time I saw you post was in Raiderz or GW2 section and those posts are about TERA.

I mean, you have nothing really positive to say about the game, all your time consists of nagging the fans of this particular game only, enlightening them how they should view the game.

What is the point of posting hundreds of times in a board about a game you don't have one positive thing to say about?

I mean you don't even post anywhere about a game you do like...you only post in this board about the faults TERA has, you seem so incredibly odd to me.

combat is good but that being the only redeeming quality of the game, sorry not interested. It takes more then combat to satisfy me, it's gotta be a more improved everything for an experience to keep me. Especially if they are asking a monthly fee. They better make it the second coming for a monthly fee imo. The old models are dead. Don't wish anything bad to happen to the company but i suspect they won't have many subs for an extended period considering the economy and other games showing the way to do it with high profits without the need for a subscription model AT ALL.

I thought the combat in SWTOR was a strong poing, it was so fun going in and bashing away at mobs with fast furious relentless skills that worked smooth and felt fun.

Good thing it's not it's only redeeming quality, and complaining about the old gaming models you have a guild wars 2 fanboy sig. Ironic much?

name one thing that's different then the old model? LFD LFG Dungeon treadmill running back to the quest givers to turn in the stuff? what?

Well I played Tera CB1-2 and then got back to SWTOR. I'm having tons of fun in PvP Oo

Tera has a different combat system but just being different doesn't automatically mean it's better. It does make PvE more fun though.

Personally, I thought Terra sucked. Bad.

If you played Shadowbane and said it ruined you for other games I'd agree.  Terra? Hardly.

The one good thing I can say about Terra is that they processed my refund within just a few hours.
