I'm personally tied up between Norn / Human  Warrior / Guardian...  There is so much my play style loves about both races and both professions!!!  But imagining those same profs as an Asura....HA!! I seen a video with TotalBiscuit playing an Asura Guardian and I was drooling.

the problem with the old vids of Asura and Sylvari is that they are most likely not the current models.. they changed the Charr from those demos as well. As to your dilemna.. my husband is trying to make the same racial choice but I think he is def. playing a warrior. I personally don't understand either of you =P why play a human race in a fantasy RPG! I do have to say that I have never been so tempted to play a human race as I have with GW2.. they look amazing!

    8 days and counting.

My guild and I spend a couple hours in League of Legends messing around playing araB and dominion, get bored of that then search the interwebs for any new information that might have been leaked about GW2.   To us it seems defeating to start any new game since it likely contains things we truly can't stand about MMO's.

We've done hundreds if not thousands of hours of questing in mmo's, the traditional way.  We've spent countless hours raiding for gear.  Grinding levels because questing got to boring.  I can keep going on and on but I know I'm not the only one.

We are desperate for change and GW2 is going to be bringing enough of these changes that makes nearly all the games currently available worthless.   We are no longer satisfied.. Thank you ANET now we have nothing worth playing until the beta following pre purchase.

I´ll be there the 10th. But people wating for a change will be really dissapointed, there  is nothing new or innovative on gw2, not even the combat system, TSW have the same system already. Dynamic events are just a new version of Warhammer pqs and Rift, and the WvWvW is literally a copy and paste of warhammer RvR. GW2 could be fun, but is just more of the same.

Well I certainly will be playing other races but my main name sake and usual roleplay usually envolves a human king or some form of it.  Although I thought of being a Charr who was previous a human whom has been transformed into a Charr during the previous war :P  I donno I could have made a beauty and the beast type story but I probably wont.

I definately am going to make a sylvari and asura just not sure with what profession but I do think they will be my secodary characters.

@ individuals trying to warn us about how we will be disappointed please spare us the asinine arguments and ignorant debate... I'm sure others like myself,  know what to expect quite clearly from the game, I've been doing this for a very long time and from reviews and previews I can tell if I will enjoy a game or not.  Trying to "warn" us differently, with absurd arguments that its the same old same old, is just a waste of time.  Maybe you have an apathetic approach on life or gaming but if you can't tell by the post a lot of us aren't and don't care to hear it otherwise.  So wasting others time by nay saying or trying to lower their anticipation is more annoying then beneficial.

Since that reply and my reply to it were off topic at best I'll get back on topic.

Flash games are occupying my time at the moment as well but I jumped into Mass Effect 3 for a bit and had a little fun.  These next 8 days are probably going to feel very long and drawn out... >_<

Hey don't go dizzing Warhammer online's RvR.

WAR had solid renown/gear grind and the RvR actually affected the world by locking zones and attacking capitals. It did miss the most important thing though: 3rd faction. GW2 doesn't have anything except 3 factions and a server vs. server competition. I suppose you could say it affects the world if you do good and fight a tougher server next week Oo

I can'´t see myself getting really excited about GW2 RvR since it has nothing to grind/fight for except some cosmetic gear :j

I've been playing WoW while waiting for GW2... I know, blah blah blah WoW.

I'm actually having a great time gearing up a new 85 and have started doing the Looking for Raid pug-raiding stuff. Lots of fun actually, makes me wish they had put in LFR a few expansions ago.

I just hope GW2 is good enough to finally and completely break me away from WoW, but at the same time I might still play WoW on the side just for the raiding/gearing up.

Thats cool that you can find enjoyment in that.  I can't deny that my countless hours of raiding and gearing up my high levels in other games was incredibly enjoyable.  I some times regret that I bypassed WoW to play other games and now can't find myself leveling past 15-20.  I keep trying and I have 3 accounts over the years with maxed character slots filled up with different attempts at enjoying the game.

I guess at this point I've done it all to much :P

I am not particularly excited for 10 April. Prepurchasing the game doesn't give me any joy. I want to play the game... Even if I buy it on the 10 Apr,  I still won't be able to play before release date. I am also not playing the beta events. I don't like playing betas. I only play them for a bit if I am undecided about a game. But I am definitely buying GW2 so there's no point in ruining my first experience of the game.

So for me it's not that exciting...

you really have a Big Point there boy...and thats another reason people wanna play beta just to play the game knowing its gonna be diferent but just playing in ..like me icant wait and somtimes im thinking if playiing beta or not .

ican say its anet strategy  but hey the pre order atleast can give information on how many people the game  would have ,of course is not 100% confirm knowing people can buy game at release but it just give you an idea and inspiration knowing  that (1 mill. player) reserve the game ..that give you an idea from the begin ,and i wanna know how many will be pre order and know how many  copy they will sell .

I guess I can reference it to road trips.  When you go on a familiar road trip you know different land marks on that trip.  Passing these land marks lets you know that you are that much closer to your objective.

With us for the most part our objective is GW2 Launch.  My excitiment is the landmark of pre purchase of the game which indicates we are that much closer to said objective.  Post pre purchase we'll get a chance to HELP TEST the game which is indicated by "beta" beta is a nice way to see if you like the idea behind the game but it is certainly not meant for this it is to help test the game for Anet.

I personally want to help Anet improve the game as much as I can because what they are offering is something pleasing to me.  My wife is on the other hand one of those who doesn't want to spoil her first impressions of a game by doing beta just to have her character whiped to start over again.

The announcment date of the pre purchase was another point that got me excited and now with that date coming we'll soon know when launch date will be.  Again like a road trip, i'm looking forward to the land marks that are coming with excitement. ^_^ We are almost at our destination!!!!

Hmm.  I thought I was really hyped until I read this.  I'm NOT that hyped.  I guess I'm just mildly anxious for release so I can enjoy exploring Tyria.  /shrug  But I'm pre-purchasing because I WANT to, apparently NOT because I'm very hyped.  Will be fun to have the BWEs to try out professions before head start, and of course to help in whatever way would be most useful to Anet by then, whether bug reporting or just stress testing.  I feel pretty chillaxed about the whole thing and yet.....happy, not hyper.

My husband is just like your wife when it comes to spoiling the game, and he's driving me nuts:)

We're still playing SWTOR, LOTRO, and other games - though I expect once they announce release date SWTOR will go.  LOTRO won't ever go away (we're lifetimers) but we only get on for two hours each week to catch up with friends at the moment because we are burned out on it.  Now if we can convince those friends to move to GW2 we'll have it made but I'm pretty sure they won't move until housing is in.

In one of your previous posts you mentioned the problem about outlevelling guild members - Nothing kills a game faster, I am so looking forward to being able to spend time with friends without a ton of coordination to make sure we are close to level and on same quests.  Usually it's enough of a challenge to work our way around our real life schedules to find some meet up time.

  • DawnstarDawnstar Member UncommonPosts: 207

Looking forward to this.  I'm glad that pre-purchasing will give me the chance to contribute to the game during beta.  Yes, I am jonesing to play, but actually contributing to the process excites me!

We did our stint in Lotro but the graphics killed me,  not that they were bad, but I'd get extreme motion sickness just traveling around.  I found myself standing around near the Auction house in town just doing nothing.  Our guild house was pretty nice and personal housing as well.   I can't wait for that to be in GW2, then it will have nearly everything I want in a game.

My wife LOVED lotro, I just... couldn't.

While I wait 7 days until I can purchase GW2 pre purchase I'm playing League of Legends with my second in command of Guardians of the Garter and my queen.   All Random All Bottom is a custom play style where the host makes it all random for champion select in the dominion map and everyone fights in the bottom lane not going above the speed boost.  its fun but today we started playing on Twisted Tree Line.

So bored of that game but until GW2 comes out we have nothing that interests us in other games.

What are you doing for the next 6 days until the pre purchase of GW2?

Damn friend of mind got me excited with GW2 now i bought the game and i can't wait to play it.
I never thought after all these years and failors of many MMMOs and me being a sandbox fan seeing all these mediocre themeparks(not long ago i condem all themeparks hehe)i'll would be so enthousiastic about a themepark.

I hope its worth it cost me €150 hehe, if this will be a dissapointment i'll quit gaming :D

I know I'm in the minority here but are we really getting excited over the day we get to pre-purchase the game? And wait... who came up with the phrase "pre purchase"? In order to pre-purchase the game don't we have to purchase the game. Maybe we should accurately re-title this "Purchase the Pre-game"... I don't know. Random thoughts, I know. I'm tired and shouldn't hit the send button but I've come too far to turn back now...
