It completely amazes me when people think servers with a population of 500 - 1200 players is a strong population. TOR has some of thes smallest populations on their servers when compared to other mainstream MMORPGs and they only have like 11 servers worldwide that are hitting those marks with like 2 - 4 with 1500+ people. Other games like EQ, WoW, EQ2, Aion, RIft had anywhere from 4000 - 10000 players on a server in their hayday.
Indeed. I guess it is the weakness of the Hero Engine.

Go to one of the heavy servers and you will see the very real effect on framerate from just having people in same instance of the planet.
Ok, it seems I was naive like a child. Even with all the skepticism I thought I had, I never expected this would really exist, that companies like EA would sent paid trolls to attack critics.
If that is true, I hope EA crashes and burns. IF. I mean, who can say, these days. Everything and nothing can be true.
Damn. Now I can never look a forum poster in the eyes and not doubt his motivations. Damn you Internet!

Wonder how much of bioware would know about the paid fanboys? Or is a case of bioware(and other devs) thinking there games are great because paid fanboys and reviewers tell them so...
I will not play a game with a cash shop ever again. A dev job should be to make the game better not make me pay so it sucks less.

What he said about he acquisitions is completely plausible. It's very similar to what Bernard Ebbers did with Worldcom, kept merger/acquisitions, and it was very hard for even the professionals to tell if they were healthy or not. Their revenue (not profit) kept increasing, but they couldn't make a profit.

Just a sidenote, I would VERY much want to know if that is even legal.
Due to German law, any advertisement MUST be marked as such. Advertising as paid worker for a company without saying so is strictly illegal due to German law, and possibly also in law of the European Union.
I would very much like to know if such form of advertising is illegal in the USA.
EDIT: I looked it up. In the entire European Union, due to a verdict from June 9th 2011 of the European Supreme Court, false advertising is illegal, even if no monetary payment was given, and if that person speaks for a company without saying so. Given by European Court of Justice, case C-52/10 as most recent example. An example given was, if you make a Blog and pretend to just be a private person giving an opinion about a product, praising it, but in fact you are paid from that company, you fulfill the crime of False Advertising, which is illegal in the EU.

time to stop using the word "fanboi" (thank god) and go to "employed troll"?
I don't see many fans trying to debunk this. Did they all get layed off today?
Someone last week must of started burning an EA voodoo doll. 1st all that patch troubles and now the dirt is going public.
Sshh don't tell, but it's probably Blizzard's paid trolls.
WAIT!?!?! Think the contents in that link could of been created by a Blizzard viral marketer troll? This keeps getting better and better. Someone should do a case study then book and then a movie. It will be the first comedy to sweep the Oscars. Ah but, if EA is involved they will bill it as a drama when we all now it's really a comedy.
Well, SWTOR rocks now with so much to do, dynamic events give us some very nice world pvp, there is always clash btw reps and imps. Dude why you even care about gw fanatics opinion. They will have their game in few weeks and i hope we don't see them much on forums
These threads are always so pointless, go to a fucking store you guys! Go to Target, Walmart, Best Buy, everywhere they have TOR its fully stocked. And I live in florida and theres no shortage of nerds where I live so I can be pretty confident its not a regional problem.
Let me continue by saying I also talked to a Best Buy Employee today who told me the game had sold very poorly at their store and that he even returned the collectors edition he had got from his store beforeopening it, simply because of all the bad reviews he heard from friends of his.
This guy was also not a fan of Skyrim,he told me he got a bit too overtaken by the massive world, he likes linear based theme park games, and is an avid MMO player, and EVEN HE agreed the game seemed far far too story driven to warrent a monthly fee.
Seriously, this is why forum arguments are so rediculous, no one actually grounds anything in reality they just throw assumptions at each other and less face it with "Server merges being on the table" according to BIoware I think we can all just admit the game sucks and move on.
"Despite being careful and doing the necessary research, MMOData.net cannot guarantee the validity of the information found here as it is based on various sources which could be incomplete, inaccurate or otherwise unreliable. Furthermore, all estimates are the opinion of MMOData.net and should be treated as such."
He he he...no but seriously I do tend to agree that the game is losings subscriptions faster than they had planeed, which is why they are being so aggressive with the offers. HOWEVER, Rift did something similar and Trion appears to have turned a decent profit from that game.

The difference is that Trion didn't spend $150+ million developing their game.
While SWTOR will almost undoubtedly make a profit, whether that profit is large enough to justify such a large investment has yet to be seen. Remember that in the corporate world breaking even is actually considered a loss since investors aren't giving companies their money to receive little to no profit.

So where is the point in your replay?? Why you even care about this post if you think it is useless? You want to tell us that swtor players are stupid and we cant see numbers of people in station or what? You don't even play the game and you think we should take care about your comments? You repeat and repeat same thing what are gw2 fanboys doing for months. Game is now awesome and we do have a good players base on our server and it is only you who is trolling on this forum trying so hard to gain some new gw fans
So I guess all the server que's yesterday was our imagination. BTW 1.2 was not a mitiagated failure, It had a bump for sure when the ranked PvP WZ's were not added for sure.
The World Event added alot of fun, world pvp, and something new BEYOND what 1.2 added. If you do not play the game why keep making false statements? This game is FAR from tanking or TORTanking. GW2 hacks are seriously trying tho. Ganrantee when that game comes out the same conversations will be on those forums as well. Dont kid yourselves.

One word sums it up "ToRTanic"! LOL
I would give you a guest pass to SWOTR, but then I wouldn't be able to find a way to live with myself afterwards....
"Andersen pointed to a variety of contributing factors for the cuts, noting that the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic did not meet internal sales estimates and is facing declining subscription numbers."
I find it kinda funny that this post was ignored, considering several people in this thread are saying TOR is actually gaining subscriptions.
But then again I guess that is how most people respond to bad news, ignore it.
Still, what is the fascination with seeing ToR die? I thought it was a fairly meh game but if people are enjoying it then hoping for it to fail seems like a rather childish thing to do.
I for one am not hoping that it fails, but I do hope that its failures will goose the development team to not blame their players for the game's bad design and start to actually improve the game where it counts - game play and game play variety on the social level; it's supposed to be an MMO, for crissakes. Plus I hope other development companies take note of what not to do with an MMO and progress the genre, rather than stagnate it.
I make spreadsheets at work - I don't want to make them for the games I play.

Oh please...
I enjoy the game immensely, but to claim the ‘world pvp’ is suddenly fun because of 1.2 is just stupid. Bioware DESTROYED open world PvP in 1.2…one fucking event doesn’t fix that.
PvPers have LESS content now than they did at launch! ß Think about that…Bioware has REMOVED ALL open world PvP objectives with 1.2 and added NONE! A ONE time limited event is not progress…it’s a fucking onetime event. Warzones SUCK! I hate doing the same mini game over and over and over and over and…OMFG...THREE MAPS?! Oh yeah...we have a 4th now...big deal. Warzones are NOT PvP and they aren't even fun…they're nothing but a grind zone away from others.
Again...I actually LIKE the game...but I can see, and admit, that they are incompetent retards when it comes to PvP.

When I started pl£aying and this post is from a phone so don't grill the grammer!!, I found all serversa to be heavy!! But as my first 30 days that was included with the game which I started playing at release!! Came to a close I noticed all servers had dropped from heavy to mostly light and some standard with only one or two dipping in and out of heavy!!! I would definately agree the game is a flop and on a decline already!! The worst game ever from bioware so far!
Ps!! I thought the game was rushed and very little heart was put into its creation! I grew up with starwars loved ther films and all other starwars games!! This one sucks
