Good point Bain, I didn't make that clear hehe. I was speaking more to those that hadn't preordered but you are absolutly correct and I can't wait!
I'm excited and all but TERA might only be a pass over game until GW2 releases. Speaking on subcription basis if the PvP isn't up to par I won't last past the first month... I'm not into PvE raiding games unfortunately and in saying that I am not saying TERA is bad. It's just not for me to be doing PvE all the time.
I will say though I am glad for the 24 hour head start. Allows me to get out of the newbie area and away from the rush on Friday.
TERA is the most PvP-oriented game to come out since Lineage 2. I'm not really sure what you're talking about.
Open world PvP is the most fun I've ever had in a game and is what I'm looking forward to most in Tera. There's nothing more fun that farming for gear and all of a sudden being in a huge battle with other players.
The problem I forsee with TERA PvP is a lack of "Meaning". Killing random people just for the sake of it gets boring to me. I crave "Reason"... objective play. My point still stands even with TERA's "Action Combat"

I think the sweet spot with OWPvP like TERA's is that you are both doing PvE and PvP at the same time. Your goal could be one or the other and switch at the drop of a dime. It's a setting rather than an event. When you rely on instances for your PvP your segmenting yourself and taking away a certain amount of surprise and excitment. It's preference really.
This ties in to the "reason" or you could have meant rewards. If not please correct me as I don't mean to put words in your mouth. In that case the reward for OWPvP is already there. Whether you're at war with other guilds, an outlaw looking to gank, a "bounty hunter" hunting them or a group of guildies trying to take down a world boss for a guild quest because your guild level deteriorates, PvP is always there.
Im always a fan of an open beta. Let me get my feet wet with the mechanics and if its good enough I would play. Sub? Not as likely as I used to be. F2P has spoiled me.
Just a reminder that Open Beta for TERA starts tomorrow for preorders and Friday for anyone that signs up for an account at EnMasse (NA) or Frogster (EU). Please see the original post for links.
This is essentially a trial since your character (for NA) will be kept for a period of time after launch even if you don't purchase.
... you have preordered and can get in today.... barring traffic. If you haven't signed up yet please refer to the OP for the links. It's worth a try at the very least.
In settings make sure peer to peer is turned off. Also, this is the first day so a lot of other people might be downloading. Hopefully you get in soon.

You mean the game that cost hundred of dollar a week if you want to be anywhere near the top XD?
I have been wary about this game since I first heard about it. I rarely like over the top style or overly twitch-based combat. But I feel a compulsion to try any game offered me for free, and just about all MMOs. So I have been looking at the open beta.
And I was shocked and very pleased.
I've never played an MMO that was so intuitive (when I chose the controls I liked), or with combat so fluid and satisfying. The combat feels like some of the best single-player RPGs I like. You can use a mouse or a keyboard, and both feel good to play and work very well. It's the perfect balance of MMO and action combat. It just feels right, and that is so very hard to achieve. It is just fun to play.
And the over the top style works. The animal people are super cute, and the Elins(?) are adorable. The giant's slaves are just incredibly cool. The warrior/priests whatever race are also impressive. Each race has a unique style, and some are archetypes you rarely see in games or stories. They all have a good flavor and the animations and sounds are great.
I was shocked. And I love it. And I've been waiting to see how TSW works out, and I have been incredibly excited for GW2. I've played GW2 at shows, and it just feels great to play, but TERA has a different feel, and it's easily as fluid and enjoyable.
Everyone should check it out and see for yourself. It's worth an hour or two of your time to see it.
Edit:
This isn't to say I'll be playing it. A pox on subscription MMOs!
"There are two great powers, and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit."

Just now spend 2 hours playing it. Combat is fun and has a lot of potential later on with BAM's etc. We fight our 1st BAM in tutorial. I don't like being stuck in place when executing skills but I could get used to that. Besides that I got bored very quickly =/ I don't know why but I don't feel like logging in again. I will try it again later on but I'm afraid the game won't be for me.

If nothing changed, in two days, Thursday.
I added in info for EU but I don't know if "TERABETA" is also the shared Open Beta key or not. I will update again when I get home.
Just not worth my time anymore.
From what I read on EU forum "TERABETA" should work, but there are no official news yet.
God I hate Frogster

Why is this download so slow? Only 400 kB?

Oh, and when you turn of peer to peer close out of the launcher and reopen it.
Just not worth my time anymore.
Thanks for the tip. Benefits met by 50kB more or less. I am at 80% already so i'll just tough it out
