SlyGamer79SlyGamer79 Member Posts: 278

Everything after WoW i quit after about 5 years or so and most games i tried my interest only lasted maybe 3 months

this is in no paticular order lol

Age of Conan 1 month

Warhammer online 1 month

Lotro 1-2 months

D&D 1 month

Rift 2-3 months

Swtor 3 months

DCUO 1-2 months

CoX 6 months (no idea why but it did lol)

Guild Wars 6 months to a year

Runescape years apon years (started playing 98' up to 06 then got sucked into WoW)

(yes the last two are what i started my mmo gaming on believe it or not ! lol)

but for some reason most of these games seem kinda stale now as for interest.

The only one that was close for me was DCUO. I actually played it for 8 months, but not all in a row.

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

Well i used to play Everquest and Anaracy online for years...

Then somthing happened to the MMO industry... yes WOW was released..

I brought it as it sounded pretty good..

It lasted 2 weeks before i uninstalled it .

Then nearly every AAA title after that was a wow clone and did not last much longer than wow. I will list games that i actually played for over a year..

    Age of Conan

    Darkfall

Everquest 2 until they started copying wow as much as they could.

    SWG until stupid CU

Currently playing Mortal Online and Eve andI can see both of these being long time games for me.

Sadly all other MMORPGs have been basically wow clones and have sucked donkey balls :)

    Oh lets see..

Probably every game I purchased since World of Warcraft.  I left Everquest to play Wow, during the time Lineage 2 held beta I think.

I started EQ1 in 1999 - and played untill I joined the World of warcraft beta in 2003 or 2004. ( I cant really remember the year anymore. It was a family and friends beta that lasted for many many months.)

After Playing wow, the first breakaway I had was to swg, which didnt go well. That was my first experience with the nature of the beast that is poor game direction/hype/management. - Prior to this I was a gaming disaster virgin. Every game I had purchased had been great fun.

After swg, I tried Warhammer and AoC - both from launch  (lol) talk about crap.

Then I started playing EVE online. This game has been my bandaid. I play it for a few months every year. It is the only title besides EQ1 and WoW that has been worth paying a sub for.

Then I tried Aion, from launch - *shudder*

After that I played wow again for a bit.

Then I tried Rift - which I actually enjoyed. It was not THE game as I had hoped it would be. Too shallow and probably still too much wow and too little Everquest in it for me to really love it.

After Rift I decided not to purchase anything untill swtor.

Swtor I quit after 1 month. I knew after 1 week that it would not have retention power and that the game wasnt what it was hyped as. But the arguments from the fans werent worth participating in. - I guess when you have been around since the birth of mmo's you just know from the gut if its got what it takes. - Swtor doesnt. It wont even have 500k subs by the end of the summer. It sold 3 mill copies, which makes for a pretty bad retention rate, which will only keep going down.

Swtor was the last straw for me. I decided not to play another mmo with a subscription. I have purchased GW2 and had played it enough prior to purchase to know it was going to be exactly right for me.

The above experiences are the direct reasons for not purchasing TSW - which I was a bit interested in, despite my terrible history with Funcom launches. -  That also goes for Tera btw.

If I had been less burned by hype in the past, I probably would have bought both TSW and Tera and played those till GW2 come out in late summer. After Swtor however I will not purchase any mmo without playing it extensively first, either through beta or convention oppertunities. And certainly not if it doesnt provide beta but still requires a subscription.

I pre-bought GW2 and i might get D3 purely because no monthly fees so i can play as much as i want and not feel totally ripped from paying a monthly fee anymore. however i'm not totally sure if diablo 3 has monthly fee yet.

Well, I played wow for a few years. I also plate global agenda and Planetside for at least a year each. Actually a couple years for planetside.

Other than that I can't think of any games I've playe for a long time. I'm still playing TOR since launch But that's only 4 months.

    Shadow's Hand Guild
    Open recruitment for

    The Secret World - Dragons

    Planetside 2 - Terran Republic

    Tera - Dragonfall Server

Rift - 3 months (left with 3 still paid for, never played a mmo less than 6 months till Rift, and was a good price break) - Trion seems like a good company, just wasn't my thing.

TOR - 1 month (friends were playing, that I played other mmos with, so got it, didn't really buy the hype), was worse than I thought it would be, given the budget, and words from the devs saying it would be almost hybridish, allowing for railed and off the track play, crafting was 90% meh and useless, maxing out skills in like a few hours it seemed...

I preordered GW2, and I am watching TSW....

Waiting on ArcheAge, EQNext, WoD, Pathfinder, Copernicus, hoping someone makes something good....Not saying I am going to buy all of those though.

SWTOR i spent $100 on only to regret it. lol But i did really love the beta and i think the game is great im just tired of the combat mechanics. I do like SWTOR's combat pace, just tired of the mechanics.

DCUO i preordered and sub'd for 3 months. Still want to play that game all the time but im playing so many other games right now. One of my favorite games ever, i think its amazing that its F2P. The "downside" to the game is that you can blow through the content pretty fast. Personally i think thats awesome, its a very fun game and theres a really good amount of content. Its a really good combination of casual and hardcore.

Have bought almost all A titles since SWG till Aion and  but nothing has satisfied me wants and needs from a MMORPG as SWG has done for me.

    Did play WoW till BC

Think played Fallen Earth the longest, little more then a year.

The rest a couple of month where some not even got a week.

  • CastillleCastillle Member UncommonPosts: 2,679

DCUO was the only one tbh.

I got into SWTOR expecting KOTOR with a lil multiplayer and thats what I got so I guess I bought it but I didnt go in with unreal expectations. I knew I would finish it up quickly but then again I still wanna play it to see the other stories....And Id be playing it if I werent so busy.

GW1, EQ2, DDO, Vanguard, AoC, WHO, Rift, SWTOR(Most Likely)...

Any thing pass WoW before that played EQ1, AO, and DAOC, WoW is the only game i've played for a lengthy period of time, it's also the only MMO i've returned to after quitting it for over 6 months(1st quit @ end of vanilla, returned for every expansion - wont do for MOP mostlikely) still got an "active account" GF is using it on a yearly sub..

WoW was just good people can hate, but it's still one of the better MMO expriences out there and for better or for worse i dont think ill ever enjoy an MMO as i did WoW during its good times.

WoW came out when i was 18 i litterly grew with the game played it since early 2004 during the beta till 2011 one and off - thats 7 years.... If any thing holds WoW till date for many people its the nostalgia feeling you get every time you remeber the good old days of wondering clueless killing drakes  :D

    I was 21 days.

I tend to get invested in those I play.  Played SWG from launch until about halfway between the CU and NGE.

Played EQ2 for around 6 months.  WoW various times but longest was 6 months sustained.

Then POTBS for around 2.5 years.  TOR was the first (and last!) MMO where I was going basically on hype alone.  Not gonna make the same mistake again.
