Alot of people on that list have probably already quit playing swtor. This has nothing to do with gw2 as I won't be playing it. But bioware really screwed the pooch on this game, they have broken that which cannot be broken................
Thats only your point of view. Millions love the game and what bw did with the star wars universe, the game could be better but is just 4 months old, they need some time a few more updates. Talking about gw2 and numbers, anyone know how many pre-orders or pre-puchase they already have? i saw a number in vgcharz but it was pretty small compared with swtor ¨1st week preorders¨, i guess somethig is not right there.
Looks like only 67k Americans believe that buying a pre-order for a game with an NDA and no release date makes sense. I wonder if they all post on here.
Well i've ordered from Play.com and so far GW2 is their best seller, but it still beggars belief that their so called editor as SWTOR as their game of choice of course EA and all it's gameing influence on companies has nothing to do with it does it?
Also GW2 is still in Beta and the Star wars IP is massive so many Star Wars fans like it regard less that's it's any good or not, or like me hope it can change or it will be the biggest game to hit F2P in a record short time.

If I'm not mistaken those are pre-orders not pre-prchases. it's not the number of americans which will show up during the 1st bWE. We don't know that number.

LOL.....it DOES say "pre-orders" not pre-purchases. I love it. So really, that tidbit of info that seemed sooooooo important, is nothing.
Pretty big discrepancy. Think this means anything for the success of the game?
Seriously?
I think it's a ridiculous notion to hold facebook numbers up in any sort of important standard.
First of all, there are still plenty of people like myself who simply do not enjoy using facebook, or don't use it at all anymore.
Second, not every gamer on facebook should be assumed to automatically "like" every single game that they've enjoyed playing, or even plan to play.
Facebook can be looked at as a very clear representation of how trend and marketting works, and in this case, I wouldn't at all be surprised if most of large chunks of both the GW2 and SWTOR facebook fans are nothing more than groupies that clicked "like" on something just because someone else they like clicked it.
frakk. I feel dirty for even spending this many key presses on such a thing

i think the real 'deal' will be when GW2 releases, i think at that point, GW2's popularity will really tell, as for SW;TOR, unless there are some credible improvements to the game, i can't see the playerbase 'bleed' ending any time soon, personally i wouldnt judge GW2's popularity based on 'pre-order' numbers, as has already been stated, the game doesnt even have a fixed release date, but even then, a lot of people have been bitten on pre-orders, and may well be wary of doing so again with another game. i do not see it as unlikely that GW2 will have a much larger playerbase than SW;TOR, given the subscription model, and the games features, especially the PvP related ones. If Arenanet/Ncsoft deliver, it may well steal even more of SW;TOR's playerbase, at least the PvP section, which is.. something that Bioware doesnt appear to have a handle on. Will it be a WoW beater.. not a chance, but.. SW;TOR on the other hand.. easily achievable
Farmville has 38 million likes. It's 19 times better than Star Wars, and 72 times better than GW2.
True fact.
It's even massive and multiplayer. I think the important lesson we've all learned from this, is that F2P facebook games are THE wave of the future, and the best possible thing in entertainment.
We're pretty much all wasting our time here, paying attention to also-rans and have-beens, when we could be part of the REAL future in gaming.

I agree. Not sure if you were thinking I wouldn't or what. My previous "LOL" was directed at the link showing GW2 with only 67k pre-orders. The guy who posted that was behaving as though those were pre-purchases. We have no idea how many pre-purchases there were. I know there were two from MY house. lol Anyway, you can't judge a game by pre-orders or pre-purchases. Let's wait until the game has been out 6 months or a year. At least that's MY take on it. And SWTOR.....I don't even discuss SWTOR anymore. I enjoyed it for what it was, now that time has passed. Nothing much to say really that hasn't already been said over and over.
SWTOR is Star Wars - a real-world phenonma (mis-spelling I know). Not many people outside of gamers know of Guild Wars 2. I am looking forward to GW2 (pre-purchased it) but I do not expect it to have anywhere near the short term success of SWTOR. In the short term sense I think that the Facebook numbers will tell the story. Long term I don't know. I played SWTOR for 3 months and enjoyed it - and then quit. I know a lot of people that did the same thing. Now if Facebook had a way to un-like....
Let me help you out here. I am a middle aged family guy, with a middle aged wife. I'm retired Navy. My friends and I hang out in Man Caves, fart and play video games, eat bacon, drink beer and play pool, watch manly movies ,etc. My wife and her annoying girly-girl friends hang out on Facebook. They also like Farmville. None of my friends spend anytime on Facebook except to laugh at oddball postings. See where this is going?I don't know any guys playing SWTOR anymore. You may want to rethink what you are trying to do there (SWTOR WORKER GUY?)
Ballerinas are always on their toes. Why don't they just get taller ballerinas?
I was born around the time the original Star Wars movies released but I would rather play Guild Wars because it will be a much better game. The likes on a Facebook page have nothing to do with the success of a game.
I dont, for one star wars is a well reknowned brand name. and probably attracted some people in which never playedmmo's but who instead liked the franchise. dont get me wrong i hate swtor, and im not too sure about gw2 but this much is obvious at least to me. i could prob think of other valid points but i think ill be lazy and let other's do so lol.
GW2 will no do better than SWTOR, not even close in comparison, just being realistic. GW2 will have the same life cycle too, up!!!!! then dowwwwwnnnnn.
"The King and the Pawn return to the same box at the end of the game"

Yeah but GW2 won't see a major decline in players atleast for another 2-3 years unlike TOR which is declining not even within 6 months!
The thing I hate about Facebook with companies is that they always do that information bribe stratagy. Get their game X number of likes and then they'll give you things like screenshots, artwork, music, or whatever they can dish out to please you. Sometimes they'll even give you ingame items.

Not realistic, thats your opinion. What facts do you base your assertion on?
My opinion is that when SWTOR was close to release the feel was: looks flat, dated and the suspicion was that it was a patchwork of things plucked from other mmorgs in an attempt to cash in. Coherent evolvment of the mmorgs genre was beyond the ken of the dev team, but lets wait and see if game turns out well on release. Game however turned out to be a dire poorly realised and confused turgid mess of a mmorg. Now, GW2 looks amazing, looks like Anet's motivations are quality over maximise profit over everything and most feedback from beta is overwhelmingly positive. Thats a reasoable start at least, and just like SWTOR ill wait and see what happens.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

i think gw2 will have a big dip after a couple of months when all the eq/eq2/wow/rift/swtor weened loot junkies realise its not the game for them.
Then it will gradually rise in numbers as the rest of the mmo population realises - its not for those guys.
Swtor will be on its arse by the years end. Peoiple who like that grind instances sort of game play will go back to wow or rift, which do it better. People who like story or crafting will go TSW. People who like PVP will go gw2 / planetside 2. People who like more open world will go tera.

No, I don't think it will. I DO think that it will sell more over time though. SWTOR will win the out of the game battle, but my money is on GW2 for the War.
GW2 might not have the mainstream brand recognition or the power of the EA promotion machine behind it but it will do more then fine.
