Not buying it after playing beta

I played for several hours last night. I tried the different classes and I have to say I'm not impressed at all. It's not groundbreaking, it's not better, it's really just D2 in a prettier package and with a cash shop to boot!

I was really hoping for something better. It's too bad that sequel games have to follow the same formula as sequel movies.

I just found it to be meh at best. I kept thinking it was going to get better but it just kinda stayed the same, follow the blacked out path, smash baddies when the map opens up, rinse and repeat.

When did that add a cash shop?

So you're not buying it cus you found the tutorial (which is what you played) a little meh. each to their own.

Your right, I mis spoke about the cash shop, replace that with the cash market. Is that better?

    Edit

The tutorial then should blow your socks off because that  is the first thing people will see. Why save the better stuff for much later? I can understand not playing your best card early in the hand but this aint poker and they should have at least shown us something to get our blood pumping.

It felt more like a chore to finish the tutorial. It sould have left me salivating for more, instead I was just hoping it was going to be over soon.

    A little better.

I liked it, eventhough I am not into top-down RPGs. It felt polished and nice, the only thing I din't like is that it's fully online.

  • ButregenyoButregenyo Member UncommonPosts: 483

I feel the same about it as well. it's like devs are mocking us. First they upset the fans in every possible way, then they come up with a mediocre hack and slash game after all these years, without pvp at launch, only online play and RMT... And i find the character progression system too cheesy. At least they could try to win the sad customers back with a proper beta not some mini demo with 2 hours content

I liked it too. Perhaps I should have said that in my OP. I just don't like it enough to buy it. I'll pick it up I'm sure, but not until theres a sale.

...and if it HAD been different, if they HAD changed it, you would be here complaining about how they have 'ruined it' and how 'this isn't Diablo!!1!' etc.

I have no problems talking about  shitty cash shops in every games, but don't criticise Diablo for being Diablo. That's just... well, you get it.

Not every game has to be 'ground breaking'... sometimes it's absolutetly fine to have an evolution rather then a revolution. Sometimes 'the same' but with prettier gfx is all I want.

Except that they did change it. The premise is the same, but they took everything that made D2 amazing out. There is no character customization anymore.

Diablo 3 sucks in my opinion...just  a lame cash-in that ain't worth my trouble.

It's just booring and an uninspired game... (And don't go BSing me that the final game will be different)

The entire game (or what we saw of it) feels like such a drag!

If you want a good dungeon crawler, that actually does some cool new things try Lineage Eternal:

Chances are, if they had changed it, even just a little, I wouldn't be here wasting my time complaining about how I will be keeping my money in my pocket. I'm glad you like it and are going to buy it. I'll be there too in about 6 weeks after launch when it goes on sale after disappointing post launch purchases.

Tried beta as well. Not buying it as well.

I might not like h&s games anymore maybe - no idea - just did not find Diablo 3 fun.

I pretty much agree with you.

I gotta say I wasn't too impressed with the Lineage Eternal video until the boss fight at the end.  Makes D3 look pretty lackluster by comparison.

When is that one coming out?

ill never get tired of tellin ppl like you the following: your so called diablo 2 character customization never existed. yes, back then you could pick from several different skilltress but that was just an illusion because once on hell difficulty you had to pick one of the cookie cutter builds or else you wouldnt have killed shit. Some builds didnt even work without the propper item like windforce for bow ama. thats not what i call customization. stop judgeing the game by the first few lvls. its like getting of the carriage in skyrim and saying "well that was sh*t, im not buying this game".

I was lucky enough to actually get to play on Friday, (4-20-2012) in the open beta when server space opened up.

My first impression is it felt like Diablo 2 with slightly polished graphics. I finished the open beta game and I'm going to buy it. I had fun in the game and I liked some of the new ideas they put in. So far I like the Demon Hunter class the best. I tried Barbarian and trying to get in the game today to try the other classes.

I have played Path of Exile and that game is definately not as good as Diablo 3 so not sure why everyone is stating it is.

Is this game for everyone? What game that has come out that everyone will like? None, there is no such game in existence that everyone loves the same.

I am actually pretty neutral about the whole game... I never really understood the passionate love of Diablo tbh... I enjoyed it, sure, but it never occupied the same kind of place as BG or something.

Never said I was gonna buy it ;)

I was making wider points really.

With exception that D2 was 1000 times better and deeper game

I just think the compaint is strange since Diablo 2 was exactly the same.

However, I do see that if someone is bored with Diablo 2 that Diablo 3 would feel boring to them.

  • kishekishe Member UncommonPosts: 2,012

They took away all the things that made Diablo2 awesome...gonna save my cash for Torchlight2

  • synnsynn Member UncommonPosts: 563

yeah I decided against buying this game. I'm not sure if its just because my taste in games has changed since I last played D2(which i loved) but after playing beta for a bit It just felt like something was missing. I may continue playing the beta and see if it changes as I progress further.

  • ZeroxinZeroxin Member UncommonPosts: 2,515

I personally was just expecting a solid game.... and it is a solid game. I had fun in the beta, would buy it if I was into Diablo.

    This is not a game.

This game took years to develope and this is the best they can come up with...speechless.

Why call it beta and not a demo?
