Today, I recieved an email from a-net, telling me to pre-purchase in order to play in this weekend's beta.
I've kept telling myself to wait a few months after the release to judge if it would be worth the 60bucks....but I couldn't resist. I feel guilty and dirty... afff.
Did you guys even try to resist? I couldn't.
Well, see you next weekend!
If you were a girl, you would be pregnant by now. "Come on upstairs, let's just talk for a while" "We can just lie down for a while, I swear I won't try anything"
---
I am glad you got your game and your beta, I hope it all works out.
Yeah, because women always need to be tricked into sex, just like gamers need to be tricked into playing video games.
Are you a Pavlovian Fish Biscuit Addict? Get Help Now!
I will play no more MMORPGs until somethign good comes out!
The decision is much easier for me. I bought SWTOR even though I knew it would never hold my attention. I did it because I was curious about how their companion and quest structure panned. But I knew it would get boring.
For GW2 I would buy it no matter what to try out the Dynamic events and WvWvW even if I didn't think it would last.
For SWTOR it irks me some as I also had to pay a sub to satisfy my curiosoty for GW2 I consider it a fair deal no matter what. However I am also fairly sure I will enjoy GW2 far longer than SWTOR.
I stayed up to purchase me and my husbands copies.. it was fn lol.. reminded me of the midnight release parties.. except I was alone struggling to stay awake >.<
I am still trying to decide if I want to Pre-Purchase to play this weekend. I never really paid too much attention to GW2 in the past because I never played GW1 and was into other games at the time. When I started checking it out this weekend I was amazed about all the stuff in this game, the videos I watched all impressed me, it seems everything I loved in past MMO's is part of this game and its F2P on top of it.

well not F2P, B2P but yea thats an awesome part of it.. IMO watch a few more vids and decide if the game is worth the 60.00 bucks or w/e your currency is If it is... might as well prepurchase and get extra goodies and more play time to learn the game so you are ready on release day.

1) If you like PvP
2) If you think the launch (honeymoon period) of an MMO is fun
3) You like what you have seen so far
Then buy it now. It will be hard not to get $60 worth of enjoyment out of this game....at a minimum.

Why would you say "If you like PVP"? The game does offer a lot for PvP players via structured PVP matches and World vs. World (vs. World) warfare, but the game also looks to offer more "at launch" PVE content than possibly any MMO since WoW. The Personal Story mode gives you a branching RPG experience with in the game, with out being madatory or obtrusive. This game is every bit as much for PVE players as it is for PVP players.

The PvP/PvE setup is probably one of the things that has me most intrested in this game. No factions so you can group if you please with anyone on the server and then if you want to PvP queue up or go into WvWvW, I always play on PvE servers but I do like to PvP just not while I am out questing or involved in PvE activities in my opinion this is a great attempt to please both PvP based players and PvE based players at the same time.
Also thanks for mentioning the PvE side also as you didnt know if I knew much about it.

Well, see you this weekend!
I bought into the pre-swtor hype heavily and was burned badly so I am now excercising some restraint when it comes to preorders. I really want to buy this game too, but I am waiting for 2 things:
1) Real reviews from real people(not press) that have played the game
2) Full disclosure on what will be in the cash shop
1 should be answered this weekend hopefully when lots of people get in to play the beta, and as it gets closer to launch we should get more information on 2
Cluck Cluck, Gibber Gibber, My Old Mans A Mushroom
The only reason I haven't is I have to study for finals this weekend. I'm really surprised I've held up so far... Hope everyone has fun in beta, can't wait to play!
I swore off pre purchasing or even beta testing MMO's, always go back to my old faithful DAoC, but GW2 got me too, ordered last week, waiting on beta info.
When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.
I'm a massive fan of this game, But i have not pre-ordered yet. "Beta tests" do nothing for me. I hate making a character only to have it deleted. So I can wait....
I definitely agree and I think the same way. However I'm just so extatic about GW2 that I think it's worth it
That's the contrary with me, i almost always managed to beta the games i really wanted to play. And i can say without a doubt that beta phase was always the best moment, so much positive energy, people are so friendly during beta, i wish games would stay in the same mood after betas.

Make a Game of Thrones type character. You know they don't live very long anyway, so you won't feel conflicted when it dies at the end of beta. Winter is Coming to Tyria!

Ya I guess you guys are right I will get my worth out of it plus it will get me away from ToR for a weekend which I am getting quite bored with.

Is this the "Blatant marketing attempt e-mail" thread?
I lol'd when I got mine....How did it go.."Want to play beta?...Pre-purchase"
To me it seems like a "money grab", not at all like a beta.
You all enjoy it.
