imho....dont post links that dont work.....but maybe need to read a fiew post B4 your reaction m8.

The link does work, it is the official beta link. Registration is closed atm, but will be re-opened at a later date. Furthermore, you seem to have posted earlier that you've signed up already some months back, so you should already know this.
- Anyway, if you still want to get into beta, that link contains what you need in order to do so. It's entirely up to you as to whether or not you want to use it. You don't have to follow them on twitter, or facebook. You can simply ignore their updates and see what becomes available later on. It's entirely up to you.
Well, believe it or not, thats the subject of the email beeing sent by NCSoft/Arenanet to people who did sign up as beeing interested in checking their upcoming title Guild Wars 2.
Let me tell you something,
IF i was thinking on buying this game, after receiving this email, i am PRETTY SURE i wont
One of the dumbest things I've heard. How shocking that they send you and advert for something you've already expressed an interest in. Oh, the humanity.
I'm pretty sure your smart enough to know the op is not complaining because they sent him an email about a product he has an interest in but is in fact peaved that they are trying to twist people into purchasing a game that isn't out yet to GUARANTEE beta access.
I swear you people are genius' unless of course someone is saying something less than favorable about the games you like.
I've seen you engaged in pretty deep conversations about the business of gaming and can't believe you wouldn't see that.
more than likely you are just trying to troll the op much like the first two pages of GW fanatics.
The prepurchase deal is not a surprise to anyone. It's been discussed up and down, back and forth for weeks. Anyone interested in it knows what they are getting for it. I see NO PROBLEM with ArenaNet reminding people that they have an option to use it because, and here's another shocker, some people are A-OK with those terms. If they are not, they needn't buy the f*cking thing and can wait or preorder like everyone else. For those who are willing to take a perceived risk by putting down their money before everyone else, the perq is beta weekend access.
This isn't rocket science and is hardly different from someone putting down money on a Kickstarter, only GW2 is a much surer bet and is far more imminent. If the OP really has a problem hearing about that, too damned bad. Get in line and wait for release like everyone else. No one is twisting his arm. Beta access is NOT his right. Take it or leave it. No, scratch that, just leave it. One less whiner with an overblown sense of self-entitlement suits me fine.
I know i am just one guy in millions but i am not going to encourage companies to charge full price for betas with no release date. I will buy the game once it is ready to release.
you are NOT alone on this m8......i also refuse to buy a beta test.
f**** that sh*t
You do get to play after beta as well. This is not new. . preorder and get access to the beta. Or you could sign up for beta and wait. You don't have to do anything.
Anet used a very similar system when releasing GW1. Pre-orders got access to all events, but they still handed out keys for every event to people who hadn't pre-ordered. I for one did not pre-order and yet had access to all Beta Events they held. Hell I was even in the Korean one.
So now it's not pre-orders, but pre-purchasers that get access. How many people don't pre-order with no intention of buying, just to get into some beta, and cancel when they have what they want. Anet decided to only offer the event to loyal people. Furthermore it will give them a much more accurate idea on how many servers will be needed.
You don't like what they are doing than don't pre-purchase, but don't spout nonsense on how this is unfair or a rip off. No one is entitled to participating in a beta and developers really don't have to offer one for that matter. No one is being forced to pre-purchase. Anet have stated that people that signed for beta will be let in in future events and also that they will offer keys at some point again.
(Open ) Betas are also not about players testing anymore. Players have long ago forgone actual testing in open betas so why should developers stay behind the times and still offer it as such. Bugs found during such a time by players are a bonus if reported. Anet wants to see how their world will react to a much larger audience than they have available in Closed Beta. Some things will only become evident when large groups of people are present. Anet will be monitoring the entire event and data will be analyzed accordingly after the event is over.
Not all games offer Trials or Open Betas. If you aren't convinced by what you have seen than wait, but complaining about it is futile.
So, OP received a newsletter reminding him that he can pre-purchase the game and gets access to the beta as part of the deal, then complains that the company which he subscribed the newsletter from is sending him that email.
Then goes on about not getting beta access because he didnt pre-purchase the game, nor tryed to get any of the beta key giveaways (I personally saw a few, even Matt-Visual came personally on this forum and posted a link to his beta key give away).
Then complains that the company is selling their product before it has a release that, like the company forces him to do it....
Did I get everything right? why is this thread still open?

i have read their website over and over......registering once is enough....i know, but what troubles me is the following:
Fiew months ago i sign up for a game i see myself playing (love the GFX and the "dynamic" quest system) and i wait just like the rest of you...BUT after months of waiting i get this e-mail that says (between the lines imho).....since we have so many people interested in our game we will only be alowing those who payd us upfront to enter any kind of beta.
Seemed kinda pointless that i even signed up in the first place then doesnt it?
But i'll wait a bit longer...maybe there will be a free round in it somewhere huh?

Dont sign up then unsub there mailing, then you won't have that problem.
Its all so simple lol.
you fanbois can defend it all you like.....its plain greed.....no other company asks you to pay for the beta.....not even de "big evil" blizzard.....this weekend you could play D3 for FREE also TERA gave us some love by letting us try it......this is just plain GREED, nothing more or less.
What are you talking about ?
did you forget the annual pass thingy which let's people into MoP beta AS WE SPEAK .. for a bloody year of subscription lmao... get your facts straight mate.
Pre-purchase is buying the game. Nothing more nothing less

Annual Pass is still the only way to get guaranteed access to WOW MoP beta
you could make the same claim about any promotional offer -- you get XX stuff with this deal too !
You sent them an email asking for a free beta-account. You did not get one, but now they inform you about their current offer. This is, how the internet works.
I did not preorder to get into their beta, but I think it is a fair bargain for both sides: arena.net gets some money and wins more time to finish the game (e.g. read the threads about the current SWTOR patch). And players who are shure that they will buy the game can still their hunger for their own beta impressions.
If I wouldn't have to work every weekend, I would get it to.
Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need.
.....since we have so many people interested in our game we will only be alowing those who payd us upfront to enter any kind of beta.
Except, that's not what they said.
You're confusing 'pre-purchase will get access to beta', with 'only pre-purchase will get to play beta'. People have gotten into beta w/ out buying the game. Hell, I could probably send you the game client right now if you want it (patcher probably won't update properly for you though).
Yes, they are going to continue to allow people who haven't pre-purchased into beta. They just aren't guarunteed a spot. It's kinda like a rock concert. You can buy your tickets in advance and know you're set for the show. Or, you can wait to make sure the show will be awesome, and risk it being sold out.

I think some people are forgetting (or don't know), that this game has been in development for a while now. They went straight from working on an expansion for GW1, to cancelling that decision and starting up GW2. In fact, this is probably one of the few MMOs that has been releasing info since it first started.
This game started back in March 2007. It's now over 5 years later, and they don't have the same budget as EA or Blizzard. I'd much rather them take my money now, and work to release it when it's ready, than be forced to rush the game, and suffer the same problems as nearly every other MMO has had for the past 10 years.
It only means that the amount of "neutral observers" in this beta will be rather low.
So yeah, the on the fence sitters, the skeptics, and those with light saber burns that didn't quite heal yet would do best to have some more patience.
To be really sure: wait for a trial of some sorts, (there might still be an open stress test before launch).
To be reasonably sure, wait for long term player tester reviews
To not be so sure at all: determine your decision on the "reviews" from the fans after the first beta weekend.
Good advice.
Honestly I think a lot of the fence sitters (more the skeptics really), need to just stop following this game. I know it's hard when there's always a GW2 discussion on the front page, but I think it'll do them some good. If they are legitimately interested in the game, it'll give them time to stop focusing on tearing up apart GW2 arguments, and a chance to come back to a place of indifference.
Being that 'neutral observer' is probably the best thing someone who's on the fence can be towards this game. It'll give them the best chance of not ruining the experience for them, which will mean they will get an accurate depiction of whether or not the game is for them.

Good advice DP! To piggyback on this I like the idea of also being able to watch livestreaming for those who want to check the game out before purchase. It's an awesome way to see if it's for you or not.

Yes, its plain and simple GREED from NCsoft/Anet, more than one million peoples already subscribed for beta, and what about GW customers, for instance, I bought all chapters and expansions in CE edition, left money in NC store too, should players like me be eligible for beta invite?!
One thing is for sure, this Anet is NOT Anet from 2005.

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
I think pre-purchase should het garunteed access. I think people should be able to sign up for a chance at beta with no charge. If they have both then at least they are trying to appease people.
PM before you report at least or you could just block.
TO claim this is anything but an attempt to garnish profits, is absurd.
I have to admit at first I though I read it wrong, that it was from EA/BIo.
"IF" they honestly wanted to stress test with maximum player base they would have a "free" "open" beta, not a pre-purchase only beta.
Edit: I did sign up for info on GW2, and I am not totaly adverse to this advertising. I also signed up to get beta access, I will NOT PAY to get said access, if ANet wants me to test for them I will only do it for free, or if they pay me cash. I will pay for a finished product, failed with TOR, with a release date.

Its not about skepticism, its about that e-mail I got from Anet, from my perspective as an old customer.

personally im a fan of gw2, did not prepurchase, did signup for the beta
I got the same email as the op did
I took no offense because Ive seen this in the past w Age of Conan and Warhammer and other mmos
its business as usual
8 years ago, I paid to get into World of Warcraft beta because I got tired of waiting to be selected for beta
its historical - pay for guaranteed beta access or try to get into beta in other ways (fansite promotions, conventions)
