I wonder if the majority give the edge to AoC over Terra because they prefer the art style? I do like its grittiness. I think I'd give Terra the edge particularly when you concider it's open environments and how well it runs on modest hardware.
Yes, I'd say it is indeed preference for the art style. World of Warcraft could be someone's best-looking MMO based on its art style, for instance.
I prefer AOC's art style, but feel Tera is a better looking game.
You're all gonna hate me for this but...Champions Online looks just like the source material just pick up any marvel comic book circa 1960 or later. When I play CO I am amazed how good they got it, I'm glad they're putting more work into this, they recently had a great update. Still the game needs more(way more) content. But as far as looks go, they really nailed it. BTW, I love the look of all the other games mentioned, I just think CO looks exactly the way it should.
I know what you're talking about with CO. It's actually a nice game. Not something that will entertain you for 6 months... but play it for 6 weeks and you'll walk away happy.
I like graphics - but I'm definitely more about the overall look and feel. For me - AoC could look pretty - but it always felt clunky.
I see most people posted AOC but the animations are a bit clunky in AOC, though it is true the graphics are good. I guess Tera is the other main one, and appears smoother. Thanks for the info!
didn't think Tera was all that great(graphically -- gameplay it is fantastic), for sure a beautiful game but not compared to conan.. i guess subjective opinions are subjective.
gw2 looks like it may be good but i seriously doubt i'll appreciate it more than conan either.
Tera end of story.... For those of you who think otherwise, you have bad computers. Tera is on a whole nother level then aoc, aion, even gw 2, although gw 2 is pretty good, its a completely different style. But for actuall graphics, its %100 TERA thats full release in 5 days.
Age of Conan hands down its been the best for a long time and keeps getting improved.
Tera character models where nice and textures are quite low res and the terrain is not that good when you get up close. Cartain parts of mortal online are a better showcase for the unreal engine in an MMO but parts of it sucks balls..
GW2 is nothing special graphics wise and even get close to waht tera is..
TSW on the other hand will be another amazing looking game using basically the same engine as AOC.
World of Wa........nah, just kidding, Age of Conan is still the best looking MMO even if it is a few years old now.
aoc has smaller zones
What's that got to do with being the best looking MMO?
I'm gonna have to go with TERA on this one. I had beta access one of the weekends but sadly never got chance to play it as I was moving out at the same time . Still not sure wether to get it or to leave it to be honest.
FFXIV and Tera both have much better graphics than AoC.
"Esport with tournaments is for hardcore pvp'rs that want to be competitive. Openworld PVP with ganking and griefing is for casuals that just wants their pvp mixed with pve from time to time." otacu
FF XIV and TERA. But AoC has better shadows imo. Generally FF XIV > character models. Nothing come close, TERA> environment, depth of field is nicely done, AoC> shadows, water. It's really hard to tell which one is the best overall. Unluckily I can't add GW2 to the list right now. I have to play it first. And it's a very stylized game so it's hard to tell how good graphics are.
Let's see no MMO has DX11 support. But the best looking would be AoC hands down. However, best looking means nothing in the MMO world because it kills open world gameplay.
I believe AoC has DX11

I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back.
Honestly I think that Darkfall is the funnest one and am very excited for the 2.0 version. Guilwars 2 is another one that I am excited for but I do not see myself doing much of the PVE part of it. F2P AoC keeps me hoping that I can camp Tortage Underhalls with a level 25 toon without paying a sub in some FFA server and I am also revisiting Vanguard in the meantime. 2012 for MMOs is much less than I had expected so far but I would say that Darkfall still wins them all.

I have to say Tera has some amazing chracter models and amazing world detail.
GW2 looks like a water color painting. Which is beautiful also.
Lolipops !
+1 for age of conan.
..as of right now
in the up and coming dept:

Tera, by far.

Tsw will overtake it though
FFXIV without a doubt looks the best graphically.
Now if we're talking about art direction, then it's GW2/TERA.
I believe AoC has DX11

AoC still has the most realistic graphics and animations to date. The caster animations are amazing.
I just wish they would fix the aquilonian race so that they don't all look like George C. Scott
Best looking MMO I've played is FFXIV

Some places in Archeage look very impressive, on par with Crysis. Some - bland and boring. For consistency Id say TERA.
As much as I love Vanguard (and this is the only MMO I play atm), its graphics cant compete with TERA or Archeage
