Sadly, not one released or upcomming game tops Age of Conan in terms of detail and the massive array of effects. I think its still the only online game to use NVIDIA's server side PhysX.

But the title is which game looks the best, I agree AoC has the graphics edge but from an aesthetic point of view GW2 equals AoC if not has a slight edge because the art is so damn impressive.

Commenting on subjective perception such as art is pointless as such perception is unique to yourself only.

After Guild Wars 2 it is definitely not Guild Wars 2.

The game has great art direction but that is severely off set by low poly and low res textures for everything even on the highest graphics settings was a big disappointment.

Guild Wars 2 look good ....from a distance.

Would have to give it to Tera.

After playing Tera for a bit, I have to say, what a gorgeous game. It runs silky smooth, and is just drop dead gorgeous.

I still have objections to ellin and popori and find the lore a bit anemic, but graphically, it's just a massive achievement.

Seriously, more MMOs need to use unreal engine, what a ridiculously good looking game.

EVE, Tera, and AoC all have excellent visuals. The nod goes to EVE though. It's graphics are simply the best, from character creation to outer space, and everything in between.

They can adjust a game all day, but they can't help the issue between the keyboard and the chair.
Played: UO, DAoC, AC, WoW, EVE, TR, WAR, Aion, Rift, SWTOR, GW2, TSW, ESO, Elite:D
Play EVE for free for 21 days

FFXIV and TERA. Hands down the best MMOs out to date graphics / appearance wise.

I actually like Uprising Empires.  It' s a browser-based MMO with great graphics... you guys should try it out!

Best looking MMO of 2012? That's what the thread is about.

Just because one game may have the best graphics doesn't mean that it looks the best. Wether or not a game looks the best is subjective.

So, just to annoy the graphics-nazis in this thread, I say: Guild Wars 2.

Oh but technically we can objectively judge which game has the best graphics. We're not talking about aesthetics here, but graphics.

The OP even talks about Metro 2033 in 3D vision.

"all the performance stuff by which we evaluate how advanced FPS graphics are."

This thread is clearly about the technical rendering techniques, not the aesthetics.
