akaMikeB on Tera

MikeB's initial thoughts on Tera. Seems like he basically hates the PvE part of it, likes the combat, LOVES the pvp and doesn't seem to like the chronoscrolls(or whatever they are called) specially for a P2P game.

Yep, I just watched it, I think its a fair review. He clearly hated the PvE questing, repeatedly saying that it was boring and easy. But he appeared to absolutely love the PvP, especially the GvG aspect, and he liked BAMs, and thought the dungeons were fun but super easy. And yes, he though chronoscrolls could possibly turn into P2W.

Soo... there is a sub and a cash shop with something that works similar to gems in GW2?

    Are chronoscrolls different?

Chronoscrolls are apparently game time that can be sold in the auction house for in-game gold. K-Tera has a cash shop but it is not clear if and when that might come to NA/EU launch. Yes it has a sub.

Oh, so more like PLEX in EVE.

LOL, I hate pvp but his enthusiasm almost got me, almost...

Chronoscroll should be exactly as plex, from what EME and Frogster wrote in the faq about chrnoscroll they consulted with CCP on how to make them.

Same here. But then I remembered my own levelling experience with TERA and that turned me right off. Don't care about the chronoscrolls system, because I simply won't have enough time to play endlessly for the first free month and grind enough gold for chronoscrolls. I wished the game went B2P, similar to GW2.

I don't disagree with most of this review, and I really enjoy TERA and will be playing at release. I think the chronoscroll thing will work just fine. It will allow some people to never have to pay the monthly fee for this game. Sure, some people have lots of money to spend on these games, but I don't think it will be to the extend of throwing the economy out of wack. He brings up an interesting point about the political system. I'm curious to see how that works out. Only time will tell. Fair review.

I enjoyed that. I'm on the fence about TERA, I loved the beta, well, I loved BAMs and PVP, brilliant stuff. Questing isn't so good. But brilliant game overall, really well made and future content updates look hawt.

    Hmm...

Comparing it to his GW2 review, this one seemed a little skewed.  I expected something more objective.  At least he found the PvP aspect favorable.

I would prefer it if the GBTV crew dropped TERA coverage and just focus on their beloved.

questing is only for the first 60 levels and id ont think you have to do the random quest, once you hit 60 no more quest

Just because you disagree (presumably) doesn't mean he wasn't objective.

He backed up every point he made with real examples, and as such it's hard to argue against the points raised. If however you can then please feel free. Don't just state that he wasn't objective and leave it at that though. If you disagree, explain why.

Ya, he seemed objective to me. On that note he s pretty bang on to how I feel, except I thought the PvP was just ok. Hard to say if this game can hold up in the west, with some other games coming out.

You got me wrong, i'll play Tera but not on a PVP server :)

I totallly disagree on almost anything he said about the PVE with the exception of the starting istalnd.

When i saw the first 2 quests pointing both at the same mobs... /facepalm.

He said he can solo any BAMs without danger but what i saw was him fighting the esier of the BAMs at level 22 while Basilisks are 20.

When you say "I can solo" on Tera you should talk about soloing something at the same level. To be 2 levels higher of a mob is a huge difference on Tera.

I heard a lot of people saying that soloing BAM is easy, but i still have to see some viedeos from those pros in action,  granted Basilisk are not hard, but they are the first BAM you'll meet.

Let's say i want to see someone soloing an ovolith without risk of dying.

    EDIT:

I almost forgot, why i didn't hear all this delusion for SWTOR lacks of dynamic weather? Tera at least has a lore that backs this decision...

The idea of plex and chronus scrolls is a good one in my opinion as it negates the need for gold sellers as why would you do something illegally that you can get legally and not risk your account or terms of service.

What exactly was not objective?? he gave reasons to everything he mentioned...

I should have added more to my comment as it seemed a bit out of the blue.

I enjoyed his BFF report but not whenever TERA is handled by the rest of the GBTV crew. I would rather they don't cover it at all if all they have for it is disdain.

Whenever TERA is mentioned in one of their videos you get tons of comments calling them out for their treatment of it.

Meh as Lancer doesn't count too boring :p

It will take lot longer than 10 minutes with lancer if you are same level as Ovolith.

Anyway the one thing in this video i 100% agree with is that Tera is really a polarizing title.

Probabaly i can't remember the only time i tried soloing it was in cbt 2 during the 27 cap so i know i'm around that lvl and all i remember is it took forever and when i got it to 2%... 2%!!!! it reset it self because it kept rolling around and moving so much it moved out of its span range and reseted -.- i was like FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.

Ya thats what they have been doing, lying. They don't do any research on the game at all (beside MikeB) and just talk about a game they know nothing about. You know in journalism or most thing thats call lying.

I disagree greatly with Fony on his assessment of PvP.  I think a 1 faction system is 10X worse then a 2 faction and a 100X worse then a 3 faction system.  Thats my personal preference.  In the end a Tera style PvP system inevitably ends up as a glorified gankfest.

Yea i noticed this problem also with the Centaur BAMs when they perform the 3 jumps, yu have to position yourself in a way to keep them near they original arae cause if they reach the max distance they reset, the distance is pretty big, but still some BAMs move too much :p
