beta weekends which you can guarantee access to by paying for them is not a real beta goddammit. its just marketing + and easy way to get money.
i dont know why people think a game will someone magically improve and become awesome especially if the game is to be released within 1 month or so. devs can only make small fixes such as glaring bugs, imbalances, exploits. if the game runs like crap and lags it most likely because of the engine (the heart of the game). this cannot be "fixed" without pretty much remaking the game on a better engine.
i dont know why people bend over backwards when it comes to mmorpgs, why would you pay for something you dont know about because it was under NDA or you couldnt try it?

You're talking about two topics here
1) paying to get into a beta. On this one, I'd say it's more likely that most preordered for the game itself and beta was jsut a perk, not the main reason for shelling out 60 dollars
2) magical improvement. They've already said this wasn't an optimized build. While I have no clue what willor won't change between now and release, I can definitely tell you that the performance difference between a debug build and a release build in a program of this size is usually rather big.
So, out of curiosity, what are some of the things you do like about MMOs and MMO gamers?

Like Lokto said, most of those paying for the demo (a beta no longer means what it ment 8years ago) did so via pre-order.
But I see a lot of people who yell at A developer, "Shut up and take my money!" Just for "beta" access.
If I'm a studio, I'm jumping all over that. I have nothing against exploiting the stupid and impatient out of their money.
Forgetful maybe.
It was a conscious choice for people to pre-purchase the game. Also I bet more people enjoy the game than dislike it. Sure sometimes one will spend moeny on something then realize "oh wow, totally not worth it".
I haven't played myself, (GW2) and it seems to have it's issues yet from what I've gathered from posts and live streams, game looks good enough.
Anyways, it's fine.
Practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent.
"At one point technology meant making tech that could get to the moon, now it means making tech that could get you a taxi."
Those dumb people do realise that the game is not yet optimised. NOt gonna comment on your intelligence.
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
1.why would you preorder a game if it wasnt for beta access? what difference does it make to just buy the game when it is released? obv because people are so hyped they MUST play beta.
2. im not mentioning any names here. generally a game which runs like trash close to release (~ 1 month) will run like trash at release. i dont think devs will run debug builds/anything which makes the game look crap during public betas without NDAs because it is sets a bad impression.
3. i dont like mmo gamers in general. too many carebears and stupid people who thing grinding for the next shiny is interesting. im fascinated by mmorpgs and what they could be; i like games that really emphasise the massively multiplayer aspect and exploit the fact there are 1000's of people in the same game world.
you're not paying for the beta. you're paying for the game. the beta is a bonus. that's an extra. a freebie. a complimentary entree before main course.
in answer then to your question, yes, as you seem unable to grasp that simple concept, i guess people ARE dumb.
why would you pre purchase a game if it didnt come with beta access or something else. why not just wait for release. you dont lose anything if you wait but you will lose however much you paid for the game if it turns out to be a stinking pile of shit.
clearly people pre purchase because they get beta access. there is no other logical reason to.
The stupidest thing a person can do is attempt to cure stupidity over the internet. Which causes me to wonder why there are so many threads, especially troll threads but more then just trolls, that try to do that very thing.
i pre-purchased because i've been excited about the game. i pre-purchase music, too. dvds, as well. and books. all the time.
i won't be wading into the beta. i didn't pre-purchase for the beta. i don't feel like downloading it for only two days play and then losing my character. i'm happy to wait for release proper.
so, clearly people don't pre-purchase for beta access so once more, your brains are fried on toast. i suggest scooping them out and attempting to find your "think" button. by looks of you, it might be a little small...
The vast majority of the human race are worthless. Case in point, Justin Beiber record sales.
We have gone on far too long without a large war.
If only there was some compelling reason why anyone should justify themselves to you. But there isn't.
Enjoy the beta footage.
I would like to know how you would feel watching your family and friends dying around you because of this war you so eagerly wish for. After reading your post i don't know about entire human race but you surely are worthless with your insane opinions.
If you think were not going to see a world war in our lifetimes you are a fool, its pretty surprising the Chineese and Koreans havnt gone batshit allready.
Allowed? lol? I don understand your comment, you flame me for wanting a war, yet you talk as your a fascist dictator? Sense it makes none.
Look at the Chinese flag. . .... what? 4 horsemen are supposed to start the end of the world? The sky will rain fire? (we all know they hate all that orbiting shizzle)
1 big star and 4 smaller ones . ..... golden age to save the Tibetan? The Koreans and Chinese may be the culprit.
If you lived in my town than you might be stocking up on ammo and frozen foods just in case they are serious about all the symbolism and spiritual leaders who predict the 'end days' . ...
Just saying. I hope that you are right in that its all BS and we can still be allowed to sit back in peace and watch these Justin vids.

dates for what?
im just talking about mmorpgs in general. lots of games have had public betas ~ 1 month prior to release. Eg rift
this is actually fairly true. majority of people and live their lives and dont really have any net contribution to society. only a small percentage of people create or discover something or change how the world works. I know its hard to swallow but chances are you are worthless. if you didnt exist it, society wouldnt be at loss.
i dont think war would solve this. probably result in a large percentage of land becoming unusable/ entire destructin of human race. remember: higher population = higher chance of genius being born=more cool shit like computers and lasers and robots.
It's partly too because games have become a race to max level. People are max level in a few weeks in most games.
In older games it could take months at best, a few days early access didn't matter if your game took months or years to get to max level.
p+1 for social class World War
me and cool ppl with sticks and handguns
vs
the rich and powerful
and to go on topic Yes people are stupid but definatly not for showing there support to companies in the only way you can in this day and age...shelling out money.

Blizzard has been charging players full price for D3 for the last 6 weeks when you buy it direct from Blizzard

1) Some reasons others choose to pre-order/pre-purchase
- for the items and perks, virtual or real
- for the headstart
- if retail box, to make sure you aren't chasing around Gamestops and other stores to see if they have a copy still on the shelf
- to reserve name and start organizing what server/realm the guild will play on
2) "i dont think devs will run debug builds/anything which makes the game look crap during public betas without NDAs because it is sets a bad impression." "Look like crap" is subjective, but on this point, my suggestion is to tag this thread and we'll revisit it in a couple of months. See you in June.
3) That's cool and all, but I already know you don't like us. As to the second half, have you tried Puzzle Pirates or ATITD, they have that collaborative server effort style of gameplay without relegating it to 'epic' raid content.
