Wow, is that axe sharp enough? Sure, add all past MMOs up and the combat isn't even unique to TERA. That's not the point. TERA is simply a great MMO that has it's own style and a lot of features. I would make this post far too long if I listed every reason why I thought TERA was better than any MMO to date.

It's sad that to be a good MMO these days you have to have something completely different. Maybe it's that more recent MMOs haven't been doing it right. Eh, we'll see how the Kool-Aid tastes in a few months lol.

You got me all wrong.  It just needs to be fun and offer me tons of different things to do in game.  When all I can really do is just quest hub to quest hub with the occasional dungeon/BAM and horrible crafting in between...then the lack of other things to do or depth to the progression system make me uninterested in playing.   I'm an explorer at heart and I found no incentive what so ever to explore in Tera.  No hidden vistas or buried caves, no collection/artifact type system(believe me, even my favorite games don't have this and they should).  I just find Tera lacking that magic quality that pulls me to another world.  It's not a horrible game but it's no where near what I would consider the best.

Let me rephrase this.... Since you don't like the game, totally a legitimate feeling, the game is identically to Aion?

Cause i didn't see the OP asking if this game is the best.

A few things and they're admittedly a little late:

@Jimy, I wasn't referring to you with the "only combat" cmoment. Sorry I didn't catch it sooner.

@elocke, I thought I put an "lol" after the axe comment as I was being light-hearted about it. I use my phone to post way too often so I have a tiny window to use lol.

As a side note one of the reasons I like TERA is because of it's freedom of exploration. Unfortunately that doesn't come into play at first as you'd hope but what does is the freedom of progression, something Aion does not have at any point. Imagine leveling in Aion without questing, /shudder.

Just not worth my time anymore.

I've played every single MMO that is available in the US except some F2P games and Tera has by far and away the best combat.  You are killing shit in every single MMO, that's what you do so I'm going to play and support the one that makes it fun -- not a job.

Because lots of people dont really care about the action combat.  Dont understand what is so difficult to grasp about this.  A good MMO has depth to it in multiple areas.  TERA seems to lack a lot of that depth.  There are games out there that do MMORPG *far* better than TERA.   There are games out there that do action combat better than TERA.  I don't want a  hybrid that excels at neither..

    Positives:

    Action combat.

Open World PVP and no factions.

    GFX.

    Group based.

    Negatives:

Grinding + Quest system + Linear.

    No world pvp incentives.

Overall it's a great game if you're looking for an asian style MMO.

    @Teakbois

It's true that people might not care about the combat, some people like tab target. I personally can't stand it anymore and boring (to me) combat has turned me off of a few titles.

I don't see the lack of depth your talking about. Could you elaborate? The main concept of TERA pretty interesting, to me anyway, and I'm kind if a lore nerd. How far did you get in the game? It sounds like you don't want to like it, which is fine, but a lot if criticism for TERA seems to stem from Korean stereotyping without real basis.

Lastly, we're playing a whole game. You can disect each piece and say x does it better but I don't really have time to play five games to get all the best aspects. For me, TERA has the best of what I like most of any game known at this point.

Just not worth my time anymore.

LOL, if TERA was made here people wouldn't tell the difference and it would be lauded for it's creativity and uniqueness. You guys crack me up.

Just not worth my time anymore.

    Absolutely incorrect.

Ok, somewhat.  Aion has housing and more meaningful PVP and a wierd pet system.  So it has more than Tera.  But when I played Tera last weekend, the crafting is the same, the questing is the same, the over the top character graphics and sounds are the same.  Tera is prettier to my eyes and the combat is more action oriented but I still felt like I was playing Aion 2 minus the Daeva wings.

Absolutaly incorret again, just say that you don't like the game and you are not going to play it. Better for you, as there is in each sentence (?!) a good point and a bad point.

Well, for myself, It looks like a Aion looking (with a muuuuuch more optimised graphical engine) game with a twist of Vinctus game play. The quests are not the most inovative matter, right. Personally trying the beta til lvl 14 for 4 chars, I know It look like a good game, really, maybe needs some polish about the archer gameplay for instance that I would appreciate but the basics are here and different to Aion in many many many ways.

It's seems to be good but I won't play it just because i'm still burned out from Aion and fed up with mediaval fantasy lores and been Korean (as grindy or hardcore or both..), I'm a bit afraid in wich condition I gonna reach top lvl.. (5cm beard, 15kg more and it's summer now, so)

have fun If you decide to subscribe! ;)

I am by no meaning trying to downplay the combat. I like it, its fun and different, kind of reminds me of PSO.

All i'm saying is a lot of people are tired of the quest grind, gear grind, treadmill... and while this combat is cool and different, as it seems so far we will just be doing more of the same.

I'm not trying to bash the game, I myself may even purchase it and continue my current character. I'm just pointing out that it is much more of the same, just with fancier combat.

To some thats all they needed, and this is perfect, but to others they are looking for more than just different combat, and this game doesn't really offer that.
