Blows away anything I've played, unfortunately I couldn't play at max settings like yours look to be because of my shitty graphics card. The chick looks like Mila Kunis lol
its crazy when you start looking at the details.. the wood, the gold work on the stall, the dohickies on the beams in the rafters. The wood work was the first thing I noticed and then the color difference in her hair.. then I started looking and saw the rest. SO nice for people who can't afford a great system but want pretty pictures of themselves!
Ok, I'll bite. Don't post a great deal but graphics are important to me. However, gameplay is also important. The best graphics I've seen in a screenshot (on this site anyway) were shots from Final Fantasy XIV. Never played it myself, but from a lot of the comments I read around the net, that game's grind and content totally blew chunks. I get sad when an absolutely fabulous graphics team gets stuck with mediocre content designers.
Tera does have nice graphics, but again, the asian style grind and "huge honkin' weapons" just really turn me off.

That's what games looked like in 2003. I'll give you that games from our past tend to look different in our memories than they might in real life (I loaded up FF8 the other day and I swear I remembered it being prettier than that) but try to keep some perspective.
Though, yes, AoC looks great on max settings. You'd never fit hundreds of people on a screen at once in AoC without blowing people's computers apart however, which is why the graphics in GW2 are lower. Even in its under-optimised state, it still functions better than a game like AoC would in the same situations.
It's one thing to just not like the aesthetic quality of something, it's another thing entirely to not give credit where it's due, IMO.

Definitely. The art direction in GW2 is absolutely stunning. On top of that, I've been in a few 50 v 50 + battles and my computer didin't explode. 40 fps is lower than I would like, but not unmanageable. The mixture between gaming realities and aethetics is spot on.
It's something that people talk about all the time. Graphics vs Aesthetics. While GW2 has some pretty solid graphics, it's the aesthetics of the game and the overall feel of the environment in game that blew me away.

Sorry, I should have said "Character model". Maybe 2004, that's when EQ2 came out, right? Final Fantasy XI, had character models that looked at least that good, that was from 2002. So, I was wrong. The character models are 10 years behind the times.
When you have environmental models that are out line with character models, aesthetics and immersion take a hit.
All your 2003 SS's are ports from console games, by the way. I'll let you figure out for yourself why that's not a valid comparison.

Nah, the models look fine. Your assessment that they are from 2004 is just lame and boring. Everyone sees the difference. Hyperbole isn't getting you anywhere.
There are a lot more, but the art direction in the game is glorious.
Anyone else suffer from withdrawel after seeing these pics? Good shots man and much appreciated. I haven't had an interest in even looking up Tera information but if you came into a thread and expected to get agreement that it is superior in graphics they may be hard to come by. That shot you posted was not that impressive.
I know right im having withdrawels after seeing them i just wanna log back in again and explore some more : ( cant wait till Anet tell us when next beta event is : )

You're talking to a 3d modeler and animator, which is why your arguments are failing. I actually know what I'm talking about. As someone else already pointed out, your hyperbole only further diminishes your cred. GW2 models are not TERA, but they're in no way, shape or form 10 years behind the times. The requirement for GW2 models purely to get into their internship program is a polycount of 7500. Multiply that by how many people are on the screen, and add the polycount of the assets loaded on screen at once. Games 10 years ago were incapable of handling that, hence why EQ2 has since gotten a graphic update to get WITH the times now that both the technology and the majority of gamer rigs can handle it.
Keep trying, though.

O man i wish the secret of the swamp event triggered when i was around 3rd picture, was in there for awhile trying 2 find a way to trigger the event but i couldnt find it : P guess it somthing im not meant to see this time round in beta lol
Awwwwww.. if I had a daughter, I know I would give her Tera for her birthday.
My wife and I saw some of those ... Elin? Elin girls with big hips and mini-skirts and knew we wanted that game nowhere's near our kids. Maybe that's unjustified, but we have a healthy caution of internet predators and the like.
Look at the chat box. One line, someone says "ea needs to buy tera and fix it" hahahahaha!
Another line "need healer, pst." And another line "dps lfg, pst." And another line, someone says "lfg for world boss, pst." Really? How can you people really support this same game AGAIN? It's the SAME GAME!
Have fun with your run of the mill MMO, so glad I will never see another "lfm need tank/heals for blahblah dungeon."
Tera is the same game you've been playing for 10+ years, only with combat being different. It'll have less than 100k subs within 6 months and will be F2P within a year with the same 100k people playing it.
For every screenshot in my link, I set graphic to maximum, but got 5-25 fps, depends on zone, in Lion's Arch it was slideshow. Somewhere were playable on max and had 20-25 and in combat too, but moving a little bit further it was like slideshow. Whole beta played on low settings and on notebook with i3 and 5730 ati mobility.
Right you are a pedofile? This is better than Gw2 seriously, ok tera have better graphics suport direrctx 10 and 11, but the art of Gw2 is the best i ever see in a mmo and it s beta these graphics will be improved for sure....
lol no but I do play an elin. Unfortunately, there's no way you can stand without seeing the panties of the female characters in TERA.
But I'm not sure where you're getting your info from that the GW2 graphics will be improved for sure.
Im sorry but that SS reminds me of a 12 year olds hello kitty adventure land vista and its horrible, not lively and way to cutsey for serious gamers. [Mod Edit]
Now this is some serious Mans game with manly appeal and gritty no nonsense mideval world ripe for adventuring and exploration.
And this one shows the beauty and breathtaking vista that a truely living world of a GW2:

How high were yor graphics settings?

not sure how high his is but you can keybind taking a pic at highest settings no matter your settings, it just freezes while it renders.
high but not highest by far
pic taken with high option
I just want to add my 2 cents on this "discussion".
Guild Wars 2 art team is an AWARD WINNING team, check Daniel Dociu.
Pretty graphics mean nothing when the game is nothing but grindfest gameplay. GW2 gameplay is the best that I have seen in many years.
That wood grain behind her looks real.
Some nice shots there. Not AoC though. The model in the 5th shot looks circa 2003, if you're honest.

It's stupid how great AoC looks on max settings.
Damn you and your magic photo collection! Now I want to play!!!!!!!
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
