Who likes the Downed State?

Who here likes the "Downed State"?

it was interresting at first, but quickly gets annoying, especially in WvW.

I usually start looking for a "Give Up" button..

Man the third skill on Downstate is the most powerful utility, but some reason it starts on a Cooldown, making it useless in WvW, when you have mass of people AoEing (which any damage will interrupt the self heal)

and massive amount of people trying to Instant kill you. Which makes the heal pretty much useless.

I also hate how we cant move in Downed State. at least in CoD you can move. it is kind of useless unless you have the distant on the pack, enough to get third skill to recharge. But not all third skills are as useful as others. but still it best for buying time for some classes.

Also another thing I dislike about it is the Camera. makes it hard to see whats going on around the battlefield since it zooms in.

In PvE it can be useful sometimes, but Mobs for some reason will target you while downed. so kinda defeats the purpose. (excluding Downed State Tanking Exploit here)

In PvP, this is useless feature, since it rely on Enemy Players being stupid enough to switch targets after downing you, and not Instant Killing you, which wont be the case in WvW.

But it does promote teamwork from the community.

But Rallying with so little health, in a massive Zerg fest can send you back to the Downed State quickly!!

I would really like some abilitiy to rally downed allies from a bit more distant away. Because sometimes teammates get downed in the middle of massive zerg or AoE spam spots around a Keep or something. (Especially the Melee Fighters)

its just so easy to be knocked out of Downstate into Defeated State. Kind of makes it pointless.

Lets not forget how the Male Human Downed State animation looks like he is giving something the Bump and Grind in the sack( aka Sex). LOL

 

Seriously the Downed State idea need to be revamped. Interesting concept, just not done well.

*Need Crawling, and some better movement



*Need to make Downed State make players invulnerable to Damage for like 2 seconds.



*Need a Suicide Button.



*Third Skill need to be made more useful from the start.



other things need to be done, but what is your opinion on Downed State?

    It only lasts a few seconds (10-15?) if don't try to recover and gets shorter if anyone is attacking you or if you've died recently. If nobody is attacking you then you can just rally by healing yourself. It felt pretty great the couple times I defeated an enemy and rallied.

     

    Several of the most intense and fun battles I had were over trying to rez downed and defeated players.

     

    The animation is strange but the mechanic is good. Other than that I think it's fine the way it is.

    I actually enjoy it.

    In WvW it was great seeing scores of injured invaders in front of my gates, with the knowledge that with a little guts and fancy dodging I could jump down and end it before they were healed.

    Also dueling with someone only to both get each other into the downed state.... and have a downed state duel is epic...

    2nd it allows for another layer of complexity... and added teamfight presence... when an opponent downs you they have a choice to make, try to finish you off, try to kill you from range, or leave you be and go capture objectives.... throw in a newcomer to the fight and it all gets so much more interesting...

    You could attack the second person and ignore the downed person... with the chance they might revive or attack the downed person with the chance of getting bursted by the opponent thats still alive... 

    I like the system.... especially vapor misting away to safety.

    I think the ranger downed state needs some work or has some bugs though cuz my pet never rezzed me once...

    Warriors can bring back players who are in downed state with two different spells. One is an elite banner skill. The other one is a shout you can only do if you can kill a person next to the body of your ally. I think both of the spells can bring allies who are completely knocked out back into the fight, but I haven't tested them completely. I think the shout does rally fallen state players.

    Elementalist (or was it Necromancer?) has a skill that rallies all allies in the target area, and give some health regeneration boost.

    How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW?

    ALso rangers have a utility skill that allows their pet to go revive a fallen ally, and an ultimate that summons a spirit which will revive allies.

    I can live with it but as in my review I posted yesterday I feel it is one of the things that detracts from the game.  I would much rather see downed removed and somethign added in its place, but I dont know what.  With that said I will def learn to live with it.

    Its give you a small chance to get back up in pvp and pve you should be advoiding dieing in the first place but if you do go down you have a chance to get back up.

    Mesmers have a ranged bubble skill that can affect multiple allies and get them up again while downed.

    Elemetalist gets one that either rally somone with regen (water attune), rally somone and urself if you die shortly after (fire attune), rally somone and teleport them to you (lightning) and rally 3 people and i think they get toughness (earth) or somthing along those lines.

    I'm indiffrent atm. Its an interesting mechanic. But it can also be verry frustrating. Possibly even alittle buggy. Saturday I "rallied" 8 times in a row without useing a single skill just to die as soon as I got up again. That was completely anoying and I was ready to say screw it. On the other hand Its saved me a few times in PvE.

    i had  one thoughtfull  instance of downstate in pvp

     

    i found myself  fighting  a elementalist and killed them thinking ill just run over and finnish them off  i didnt notice that my health was also low 

     

    by the time i got close   he had hit me and downed me 

     

    so now it was a race to heal up but because he was already downed  he could instantly start the haling process 

    where i  had to wait  a few extra seconds

     

    he promplty got to his feet first and   finnished me off  as he stood up on half health

     

    now  i dont know if i had started chucking stuff at him  if i could have reduced his healing to less than mine

    tbh i didnt think about it at the time and i guess is also my own fault  as  i should have healed before trying to finnish him off

     

    but felt kinda sucky that having won in a one v one dual  i ended up dead but for him it must have felt really great and i guess i wont do the same mistake again

     

    but was a good way to see how  even if your down you can still comeout on top even thought it was me  who ended up dead

    If you get rallied it usualoy fairy easy to stay up afterwards dodge roll backwards twice then pop ur heal and usualy ur fine after that.

    The ranger elite is fantastic.  Not only does it revive allies near it on use (and can be used at least twice while it's summoned!), it also removes conditions and provides a constant healing regeneration for those near it.  Too bad the elite cannot be used to revive yourself.

    To name a few. The builds aren't flushed out, I just picked out some ones that I thought would fit with the theme.

     

    EDIT:

    So many people in the beta were trying out DPS builds. Which is cool, but I think over time we will have lots of players playing the many playstyles of each class rather than having everyone trying to do damage.

    As for the topic, I'm neutral on the downstate. Although, I do agree the camera for it is somewhat annoying.

    the downed mechanic can cause some really epic moments. I like it! Though I think rezzing when someone is completely dead takes a bit too long sometimes. but meh shouldn`t be too easy either. I loved the one warrior skill I had, when its active and I kill an opponent it rallys all nearby allies, that made some truly epic moments.

    I remember a fight we were clearly loosing, I was last one alive, and went down myself, I rallied myself killing one really low hp mob, then got out my 2h sword, put on the skill and went berzerk, and rezzed about 8 people lying around, winning the fight afterall, truly epic moment.

    I like the downed state alot, but not so much in pvp. I think it would require some serious retooling in order to make it really viable in PvP. Enough changing that it would pretty much change it drastically in pve...which it works well in. I think the most obvious solution would be to simply remove it in PvP or allow for a "give up" option. In pvp it often results in odd moments where like 3-4 people are trying to perform a finishing move on someone.

    I thought it interesting. Thing is, didn't seem to work very well. Once you were down, you were out despite trying to recover. Then if you did succeed in recoving, before you could regain your health, you were down again and usually out.

    I find it quite usefull. I usually get people down to really low health in PvP so having a downed state kinda allows me to throw their victory in their face.

    This is not a game.

    I love it.

    If you could always recover, then there would be no point. If you a certain you have no chance at all, you can always go right to defeated, but most of the times I've been down there has been some doubt which way it would turn out and it makes things very dramitic. A lot more so than just dying and instantly respawning.

    There is some strategy involved, if you are aware of what's going on around you. I also found it adds to situational tactics for you when it's an ally that goes down. Doing something to buy them the time to recover, or even an opportunity to help them recover, is an awesome element to combat.

    not sure what to think of it. Visually it makes me feel like a pathetic creature :P Having said that, on the occassions where I do recover which is every time except once, I have managed to heal myself straight away. Still it seems like a time waster in some circumstances where I am close to a res point I'd rather just get it over with and come back. I think it's more useful in pvp as far as requesting help from those around you.

    I like downed state, but there are moments when I go just FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF about it. So ye its an interesting feature but Id also like to see some change to it to make it a bit less annoying. :)
