This game is a joke when it comes to questing. The quests are so forgettable and not even worth reading. Even in WoW the quests have some sort of flow and talk about the zone you're in or the quests are reflecting the zone/races. Here they are completely throw away. I can't belive people are ok with that.
It's a shame because the combat is unique enough, however once that novility beomes old.. people will see how terrible everything else is.
I'm not saying the game is bad, actually i'm saying it's a shame they didn't put more effort into the quests to go with the combat. Other MMOs coming out have redefinded questing AND still have combat that requires aiming ect, yes GW2 requires you to aim in that the skill will go off whether or not you are in range, and the skills can be dodged ect.... it's a shame tera didn't try make quests more interesting.

Yes it is.
Because obviously all you do at end game is questing.....
My god why do people feel the need to repeat same damn thing thats been stated for the past fcking 3 month.
I would agree and there is a lot more to a game than the combat. Been telling all the Tera vs GW2 people that there is more to a game than the combat system. A bad game is a bad game!
it's just another mmo thats entirely focused on end game and the journey is completely meaningless.
No one cares about endgame if the rest of the game isn't fun. Why do you think MMO's bleed subs so fast? You think the promise that fun MAY be waiting for them at the end of the game if they keep at it is enough to keep people playing and paying?
People keep repeating it because it needs to be repeated until it sticks. Anet can NOT be the only developer that understands this. If it is then the MMO genre is in extremely bad shape.
I mostly PvP so questing is normally a means to an end for me. While I don't think Tera is innovative when it comes to quesing, the wacky NPC's and voice work do provide some decent entertainment in between killing things.
If you want deep lore and meaningful quests, Tera is not really for you.
However, if you like engaging combat and stunning graphics, it's definitely worth a shot.
I thought the quests in Tera pretty much mimicked Vanilla WoW? I mean I haven't played WoW in awhile but wasn't it a lot of "Oh these pesky boars are ruining my crops, please kill 8 of them and bring back their tusks as proof."
And "These bandits are harrassing the townfolk, please bring back 10 of their bandanas as proof."
lol
I guess there was a story somewhere in there but I don't remember it that's for sure.
I would have to agree. I try to force myself to read the quests to understand what the hell is going on, but sometimes I find myself questing and realizing that I have no idea what the last five quests I did were about. Then I go back to killing <insert adjective here> noruks, 'cuz it's kinda addictive.
<childish, provocative and highly speculative banner about your favorite game goes here>
Yes especially after playing Swtor which has excellent quests. That being said Tera is not a bad game but think how much better it would be with decent quests. How people play PvE with this game is beyond me. This game is strictly a hardcore PvP game
I know that there are things in development, but there are no raids end-game just hard mode dungeons and rifts:

BAMs, HM 5 mans, PvP, The Nexus aka Rifts, and daily rep grinds.
"Loading screens" are not "instances".
Your personal efforts to troll any game will not, in fact, impact the success or failure of said game.
Looks like another gw2 fan that has nothing else to say, plase release gw2 allready so all these haters go play their laggy cash shop game.
Basically the story line doesn't pick up till after lvl 40 everything before 40 makes no sense at all but everything suddenly connect after 40.
I strongly disagree, I thought the quests seemed needless to pay attention to, until I started watching the awesome cutscenes and realized there was a good story happening here I should pay attention to... So I started to..
Amazing story....
Elleon and Fraya and well every other single character is amazing, they build upon the story again and again, you don't just see a hero for 5 seconds and then off to a new land with new heroes, the heroes of this land are friends, and as you progress through the story you see them again and again.
Rememinds me of FFXI's storyline with Lion.
Basically the story line doesn't pick up till after lvl 40 everything before 40 makes no sense at all but everything suddenly connect after 40.
LOL @ you for injecting ANet into yet another TERA thread. Let's see how much "fun" all you GW2 fans have once you've gotten bored with repeating dynamic events and spending countless hours trying to smash down a keep door in WvWvW.
And you saying "the rest of the game isn't fun" isn't exactly a fact, buddy. A lot of us are enjoying the hell out of ourselves during the leveling process.
After playing GW2, i cannot understand those people who keep saying that other games PvE is boring compared to GW2. I really can't. Anyway, let them fall into the hype.
I agree, I wish they would release GW2 sooner too oO. But, alas it's not finished yet.
And just wanted to point out that TERA has a cash shop as well and similar to GW2's meaning just cosmetics and fluff.
Also as far as the Gems go in GW2, I wouldn't say to much about that since TERA has the Chronoscrolls lol.
Not to knock the posters but when I first started reading about Tera , and how the quests were bad and this needed fixing and such, the answere would always be, "well wait til you get off the Island" or "dont worry once you get off the Island and get to around lvl 15 the game really opens up" or "well wait til you get to lvl 20 and you start fighting Basalisks or BAMs it gets fun then" or "wait til you get to lvl 30 ha ha the game really opens up than" and now its "wait til you get to lvl 40 all the quests start making sense then"
I keep saying why oh why cant a game be fun at the beginning?
Tera also has a cash shop.
Hey no worries, you're entitled to your opinion my friend. Don't get to bent out of shape though, it just seems to be the common feeling of me and most others I've talked to in TERA.
While some may enjoy it most that I've talked to in game have expressed they do not.
But I am certainly glad you are!
Red quests = story line quests. Those you read and pay attention to and are short, interesting and sometimes provide cutscenes.
Yellow quests = TASKS. The text in these can be neglected. It's not as if these are presented with walls of text (they're not!).
Funny how some people enjoy smashing down doors for hours. Some of my most enjoyable times I ve had in any MMO was DAOC and keep takes. Tera is on par with some of the worst quests know to MMOs. I made it to all the magic levels of "it gets better after" and well to me it doesn t. Oh well then have you done a dungeon, or BAM, yes they re nothing special at all. Tera will have it s crowd, a small one at that. It will survive, but don t be shocked whenit s down to 2-3 servers in a short time, and a cash shop with a sub.
Tera also has a cash shop.
No, it does not.
Enjoy smashing down your doors for hours. I'll enjoy hunting BAMs and running dungeons, and participating in combat that is actually strategic and doesn't feel like a cluster**** of particle effects being vomited on my screen.
