Im just gonna say this once, dont like it, dont play it. Its simple and efective it wont bother you because you not thinking about and you wont bother others that actually having fun, have a problem with that go play some interesting single player game until your precious GW2 comes out, ah and i dont even play TERA but you haters and hype lovers really pisses me off, i really think both games are a good fresh air on mmo and both games will do great, one for some the other for others.

Go get a drink instead of bashing some game you dont even play all the freaking minute get a life.

The people who signed up for this game signed up for the combat, BAM's, and endgame. If you dont like it, dont play it. Stop QQing take a Xanex and stop flling this website up with your cancer. You are what's wrong with the MMORPG community.

Have to agree with the OP, I've gotten to level 50 on my main and into the 30's on my alts and the game has become just too boring to even borther logging into..

kill 10 of these now go kill 15 of those.. now 10 more of these now another 15 of those.... move to next hub rinse and repeat.. omfg kill me now.

3-5th  ranked guild on my server over 300 members and maybe 12 ppl logged on at any given time......

Oh and another thing what happened to the NEXUS( rift ) events they were so proud they had stolen from RIFT and were instituting in TERA?

I love TERA but the quests are horrible.

I get bored way too easily, but i'm hanging in because the world itself is worth that boring grind.

I agree that the quest system is way too easy and is very mindless most of the time...

I'm here for the BAMS & Endgame so...I dont really mind <3

So tired of folks tossing the word 'hating' around and not really getting its meaning.

The guy is not hating on TERA. He even states (if you actually bother to read the post) that he isn't saying it's a bad game but that he wish more detail went into the quest. That is called an opinion on one aspect of the game. He didn't say it defined the game, he didn't throw a judgment on the game as a whole. He threw a critique on one thing. Anyone that is objective can view even a game they like and find something to critique. Everything isn't rainbows and unicorns as there is no perfect game even if we enjoy that certain game.

So try being objective a bit. Just because someone likes one game doesn't mean they can't like another. There is no fanclub where we all get nice cool buttons on our shirt and get to rave and squeal like little girls at a Justin Bieber concert waiting to go backstage. It's a freaking game.

I found the quests in SWTOR to be worse.  Much more repetative and less variety.  All kill 10 of whatever.

Just because the quest text is voiced by some amatuer voice actor doesn't mean there was more to them.  In fact I'd say there was less to them.

I'm up to level 40 now and TERA has been the best PVE experience for an MMO I've played.  The quests are definitely better than I expected, especially the story quests.

Lets be honest people. You dont play Tera for the quests. If you want that go play SWTOR or something. Even in GW2 the 'quests' were more of an ambient flavor than somethign you were devling deeply into (I love GW2 btw). Quests really arent the mainpoint of MMOs these days. Its about the combat, the items, the egos.

Elleon and Fraya and well every other single character is amazing, they build upon the story again and again, you don't just see a hero for 5 seconds and then off to a new land with new heroes, the heroes of this land are friends, and as you progress through the story you see them again and again.

Rememinds me of FFXI's storyline with Lion.

     QFT

It really does pick up later on and I look forward to what the next patches will bring, the 58-60 patch included some pretty awesome storyline quests.

SWTOR had one of the worst questing experiences ever. There are two kinds of quests, go kill x number of something, and click on the shiny things in the same area when you're there.

It was a complete snooze-fest and the only MMO where I couldn't even bear to level one toon to max level due to sheer boredom.

I thought you purchased the Chronoscrolls with real cash and then sold them in game for gold? If not then my mistake

    Chronoscrolls FAQ

Q: In ten seconds tell me, what are chronoscrolls?

A: Chronoscrolls are an in-game item we're using to fight gold farming, game account theft, phishing, chat spam, and other criminal behaviors in order to create a better gameplay environment for TERA. Players can trade their excess gold for chronoscrolls and redeem those chronoscrolls to play TERA for free. Other players can buy chronoscrolls and sell them in the game as a way to earn more gold. Both groups of players get what they want, without having to interact with cyber-criminals. By creating a legal market where players trade game gold for game time, we can reduce demand for the illegal trading of game gold for real money, and thereby reduce criminal enterprises. That might be more like a twenty second answer, but I think it hits the key points. Of course, you probably have a lot more questions now!

And then I must ask, did they decide against bringing the kTera shop over here as well? The one with the mounts, glasses, weapon skins, etc.?

  • xposeidonxposeidon Member Posts: 384

Wow another thread bashing TERA, I mean we all know the combat is the main attraction of this game, everything else is to the side and second thought. I think we know that this game is only going to be for a specific type of people, a niche of players, a fanbase who will stay loyal to it and praise it for what it is and I think it's time to start accepting that. I guess people are just dissapointed that this could have been a much better game if it wasn't so generic and dull, if there was some innovation to it and if the developers would have put a little bit more effort on the other aspects of the game.

Having that said, I agree that the quests in these game are goddamn awful.

Remember... all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more.

Well, first of all, I was really turned off by the voice system because I was constantly "watching" the game instead of playing the game, and I'm not sure what people get out of having the choice of saying "That's crazy" or "Wow" every once in awhile while they watch the quest text read to them.

But for quests, the writing was some of the worst I've ever seen.  Just one rediculous reason to go kill a bunch of stuff after another.

TERA's quests flow together and it feels like one immersive world, and the questlines culmilate in some sort of event.  SWTOR's quests were mostly a bunch of isolated quests because you jumped from planet to planet and each one had it's own (badly written) story going on.

If anything, I don't see how TERA's quests are worse than any other themepark, as so many are saying.

This I can honestly say is a Tera fanbois reacting. GvG battles consist of next to no strategy , you aren t gaining control, theres no strategic points to take whatsoever, you don t gain anything as far as strategic points goes, you aren t sending out smaller forces to take supply points. You aren t sending out forces to get more supply.  You don t need to cut off reinforcements trying to get to a keep. You don t have anything to fight over period. Strategy isn t all about combat, the strategy on the battlefield, is alot more then knowing what button to push at any given time. Theres so much more involved in GW2 WvW then Teras gankfest then you obviously know about.

Why do people post crap like this?  Yes, Im sure you know for a fact based on limited beta testing that TERA PvP requires a lot less 'stragety' than GW2.  I am not saying it does or does not, but it is clearly 100% impossible to tell at this stage, especially since people havent had as much time to tweak with character customizations.

If people are upset about people bashing TERA, or even posting legitimate critiques, and one of your stock reponses is 'you obviously havent gotten past the starter zone, or it gets better at level xx', perhaps it is best not to be hypocritical and pass judgments based on equally limited experiences.

The reason why there is so much TERA vs. GW2 crap on these forums isn't the GW2 fans (mostly).  Ive been accused of being a GW2 fan or even a fanboi despite the fact that I have limited curiosity about the game and unsure if I will buy it or not.

quick start another one with your 15 TERA-bashing comments alone today. I mean u have to start another one before people actually start thinking the game is great. We can't have that now can we!!!!!

The quests suck, kill  3 of those, gather 3 of that. We can't have any of that.

I kind of get the feeling that they designed a combat system and just threw together a completely uninspired game.  They must have felt that Koreans like grinding since they have so many kill quests.  En Masse has been doing all sorts of stuff to try and make the game appealing to westerners but they seriously have their work cut out for them.

Wait... where was the comment about quests... you know the topic of this thread?

    Oh there isn't any?

How about ya stop derailing the thread.

To answer your OFF TOPIC question, yes there are chorno scrolls, NO there are no other items, in fact Chrono scrolls are not even available yet.  Also they said about the Korean TERA cash shop that they have not made a choice on the cosmetic item shop one way or the other yet, they're more focused on actually getting the game out the door.

And if you complain about cosmetic items in an MMO then I guess you havn't been around for the past few years, because every single mmo has one now.

    Back on topic pah lease?

Still, "kill 10 rats" is only bad if the process of killing rats is boring.

Between 2 closed beta's, the open beta and launch period I have run the starter island and leveled one of each class at least once, (to level 12-16) for a total of 14 times.

OMG, how could I stand to do so? All those boring quests, repetitive mobs and small, walled terrain?

Because I enjoy the combat.  Even at levels 1-12 each class plays slightly different and I enjoy trying to kill things using the different approaches/skills. (Damn, playing as a Sorc is tough, never seen such a squishy class)

In many situations I don't care to read the quest text, I just gather up the quests as quickly as I can, march out and lay waste to whatever happens to get in my way.  Heck, I even go back for repeatable quests, and then crush the same set of NPC's again and again just for the fun of it.

Now on the other hand, sometimes I read the quest text (especially the storylines) and they are quite good (ok, decent at least) and when I took down a traitor it was actually sort of sobering in its conclusion. (and satisfying, the guy was a douche) image

So no, TERA is no SWTOR in terms of breaking new ground in quest story lines, but I find them sufficent to the task, giving me great reasons to kill stuff, which is my primary interest in MMO's.

Tera didnt bring nothing sooooooooooo revolutianary but it realy refreshing to play something with this cobat system.

About GW2 for you fan boys:

TERA and their ppl behind it never said thay are 2nd best game after WOW and they will not stop till they become numero uno !!

GW2 is worst gaming experience I ever had.

WHY? (I have to give a reason cause i was baned 3 times from Administrators for...... well,  beasicly they are right now on the payroll from NC Soft so you have to be cerful and SWTOR PR`s are not paying anymore so you can freely talk tresh about the game).

    - GW2 is a GW1 with a bit polished graphics.

    - GW2 implemented ideas from WArhammer Online and that is a good thing ????

    -  They made a system where you do not even need to be part of any group and in any guid or to ever talk to anyone in game, nice game for PvP sociopats that are and should be treated as 2nd rated population in any game.

    - Finaly, their combat system is the same old thing we saw in every other MMORPG from last 10 years.

GW2 is the game and have system like you live in a world called "DAILY QUESTS".

    - Quests in GW2 are ...................... SERIOSLY............... LOL !!!!!!

    You couldn't be more off.

How am I the cancer if I support all MMO's wholeheartedly regardless of their miniscule flaws?

The games are meant to be enjoyed, not knit picked because theres tiny imperfections that you don't like about them.  Being

able to please gamers is a thing of the past because all they do is sit at their computers and judge masterpieces all day while

they contribute nothing but negativity. You try making the perfect game. Oh wait thats right, you can't.
