... started with a character profession they didn´t want to play at release ... and started loving it so much they now want to have it as their main class...
I rolled a human warrior (cause I wanted to play a Norn Ranger) and now I just love the profession...

Started with a mesmer, was going to focus on Necro for release but loving the mesmer now
I'm still sticking with Ele as my main (first) class at launch, I loved it as much as I though I would but when I tried mesmer and egineer I liked them almost equally, guardian also looks like a class for me but I didn't try yet. Maybe I'll just get rid of a main altogether except for being completionist on one of 'em
I can understand the op, I've always shunned the class of warrior and in some cases the other classes in other games, but I find the ones in gw2 to be very entertaining, this will probably mean that I will actually for once play every profession available in a game---which is a good thing
I tried warrior, thief, ranger and Ele.
Liked thief the best so far, no surprise there but I am not sure that it will be my main class anyways.
I had the same "problem", only it was a Norn Guardian. The warrior is a LOT of fun. It's very visceral and depending on the weapon type, either strategic or just plain chaotic, and I love being able to switch to either style on the fly.
I started with a Charr warrior and became a Charr Thief, luv shadow stepping.
I guess I sort of had that experience. I went into the BWE leaning towards playing guardian but the class wasn't working for me when I created one. I knew I would like elementalist but when I rolled one I almost immediately loved it. I also enjoyed mesmer, but I'll probably go with the elementalist at first.
Of course it's pretty easy to reroll a new class for WvW so there's not as much reason to have a "main" like there is in other MMOs. You have to love a game where you can jump right into end game PvP without having to hit the level cap and raid grind for gear first.

Kind-of sort of for me, I wanted to play the Ele but it was really boring for a bit so I rolled up a Necro and had fun with that. The next day I went back to my Ele and got a staff, and it started getting pretty fun, so I stuck with my ele. Human Ele and Norn Necro, but like Eruiel I'll probably try every profession, I probably will also.
Edited: Minor grammatical errors that I made because I just woke up and changed some of the wording.
I think if they increase the survivabilty of the pets I will still play ranger at release but I really am struggling to decide which class to play as my main.
I won't play my race and class i save that for release. I use beta for cheking out on other races and classes. Also restrict myself not explore to much about game world so i pvp alot.

Upon release, my main will be an Asura Elementalist. So... during the BWEs I will be playing pretty much everything else (I know you can't play asura and sylvari right now).
In the first BWE I played a human memser and necro, a charr engineer and elementalist and a norn guardian. I ended up loving every single one and now I don't know what I want to play upon release. I just had so much fun with all the professions; especially with the engineer's flamethrower. Most likely my main will still be an elementalist, but after the first BWE, I'm def going to have many more characters than I can probably handle haha. I'm so screwed considering we still have several more BWEs and a few more professions for me to try! haha
God I love this game!
I played Necro, Mesmer, Thief : loved all
I also want to try Ranger, Guardian and Warrior
I have no idea what my main will be it's getting kinda ridiculous really - I never had so much trouble deciding my favourite class
I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them
I'm a unique and beautiful snowflake.
I started as a human Elementalist and I liked it the most.

I rolled an Engineer ans a Guardian, and had little thought that I would play either live. Guardian, I really enjoyed. Engineer not so much -- though to be fair, I haven't fully explored the class's potential yet.

I went into GW2 wanting to play an elementalist but opted to try a mesmer as my first beta character. I leveled to about 6 before switching to an elementalist, which I fell in love with as expected. I still plan on playing pretty much every class, but elementalist is my undisputed main.
words cannot describe my feelings about this matter. Classes are so unique, i approach every class to be my main. Each one have awesome gameplay styles that i want to learn and master.
For the beta, i choose guardian as it was the least played amonst my guild and it rocked, at first i wasnt using my virtues (only used them as passives) actively, but after i tried using them it had excellent effect on my team. Combinations you can do with your traits virtues and utilities are awesome. I loved the teleport skills (both to allies and enemies).
Only thing i wasnt comfortable with is that i felt useless in long range combat (there is a wide discussion about this in the official forums as well). They will maybe add a supportive long range weapon (short bow more possible) in the future or make scepter attack in 3d (right now you cannot hit hot-oil pots with a guardian from the ground level for example)

I wasnt even thinking of rolling a guardian but i loved the class.
After that i rolled a ranger... And i felt the same all over again... Damn i think i will go with 8 mains :P
I tried them all. And I found the Guardian the most fun for me; which is a complete surprise. Was expecting to go Mesmer or Thief.
Normally I'm always blessed/cursed with picking the "rightest" class for me straightaway, without actually wasting too much time trying to analyze the classes in advance.
This time I thought I'd read up on them and figured that the Engineer would probably make for a monster setting up turrets everywhere and bring all the utility you can shout at to the fight.
Which reminded my of old Tribes2 gaming.
Tried the Engineer, was not too impressed but still kept going - things always get better after 6-7 hrs, right?
Figured that based on the PvP map design a stealth character would be fun, so tried Thief.
Fail!
Tried other classes: Necro, Ranger, even sniffed at the Guardian's rear end, neither really felt "yeah!"
Went back to Engineer just to try further utility options, in the end stuck with him as he was the highest levelled (16 at time of switching back, 19 at closing BWE).
Frankly, if I were to see a point I'd try the other classes on Monday, but with the overall feel of GW2 not my thing (mediocre game IMO), gonna skip on that and, well, say it's going to be no class for me at release, just because I'm not going to waste money on this game :-P
How did you get in the beta again?
so you suck at game so let complain about the class arent good. well my friend i will show a video where a skilled player can do amazing things and in this case the player use a ENGINEER class.

thief on PvP is amazing and dont need much search to see thief gameplay on PvP because is one of the most class use on PvP. basically you say: im not good on combat so the game is mediocre. you spend 55€ just to try some betas??? loool. why you dont make suggestions on official forum?
Was going to start as Thief or Engineer. I mostly hate caster classes, but I gave the elementalist a shot and now I'm pretty hooked. My biggest complaint from WoW and its clones always was the fact that you could not cast on the move--it always felt clunky and at a severe disadvantage. I used to cry that they should just tone down the dps of casters and let them move while casting. Thanks Anet, for hearing the cries like mine, it really makes a huge difference to the overall enjoyment of caster classes now.
p_s_sousa,
of course people can do fantastic things with just about every class in every MMO.
The question is just whether because some random gamer was so "skilled" with that class and did such "amazing" things it's the right class for you (or me or any other random gamer out there for that matter).
According to you apparently yes, as obviously all gamers play alike when it comes to playstyle, it's just skill where they differ.
So, on that note: try playing the Thief in GW2 as a non-combat stealther (a style I'd like to go for as the GW2 PvP maps are perfectly suited for that) and you'll see that the Thief lacks the skills for it, not the player.
The same goes for the other classes I've tried in GW2 in some way, shape or form or the other: the way I'd like to play them just didn't really work.
Which is obviously my fault as I suck at the style of gaming that is hardwired into these GW2 classes...
but hey, guess what, there are other games where I have classes that are suited to my style of playing!
Now, I assume either a fanbhoy or a moron would say "well, you still have to play the game you don't like, because it's the "bestest" game ever!"
Should we wonder which of the two you may be?
I mean, if you really understood my posting the way you seem to have understood it based on your reply, well, the answer to that question is fairly obvious.
If on the other hand it's just your fanbhoy-ism making you see red (and not much else, I guess that's why white letters on black are hard to read for you) because someone didn't feel like "your" GW2 is God's gift to Mankind, well, shouldn't you be guarding the offical forum? Not that somebody may slip in and stain the prestine grace of "your" game... *gasp*
Because, seriously, where in my posting did I say that I think GW2 is a mediocre game because of the classes that I've played? Or even that I pre-purchased the game?
Obviously it must be that way, because you said so. "loool."
Rivalen,
won the key, figured I'd take a look at the game, registered, was in.
Might be news to you but there are ways to get into betas without pre-purchasing a game...
Goreson,
sure you did. Wierdly enough you only got in the 2nd BWE and not the 1st.
Either way, glad you're saving the cash.
Good luck on your future endevours.
