When I first came to this website, it was to get some news on my favorite games and to check out tips about playing them.
Today, we have a wave of trolls badmouthing anything thats coming out...I like the website and most of the articles, but sincerely all the negativity here makes being a gamer something almost depressing.
I will move on to other news based websites, and I will continue to play my favorite games.

If you consider proper criticism and the lack of drive to be "swept away" by hype every time a new product is announced to be trolling then you shouldn't have been on MMORPG in the first place.
If you're looking to avoid the "trolling" for a particular game you're looking at you should stay on THOSE forums. Otherwise you'll likely hear something bad about the game IF it exists.
However, lately there have been a LOT of bad games coming out in the past 5years so it's not very easy to "say something nice" when there's not MUCH to say nice things about

I think this is the first time I"ve actually posted on these forums, and I always browse them to see what people are thinking about of new upcoming games and current ones.
I can almost agree with a lot of the content others post here, and it's refreshing to see some players who actually enjoy some of the games currently released at this time.
However, I haven't come across someone so deranged that they felt a need to post a new topic about them leaving due to trolling. Let me just tell you something; It's called the internet. If you don't like what other people, sitting behind their computers have to say about anything, then you might as well live forever alone or turn your router off now.
Where there is internet, there are going to be trolls, you cannot avoid them. You just have to weed out and sort through the serious people.
And if being here on these forums depresses you, then go play Call of Duty or something like that where all you'll hear are people wanting to rape you and calling you gay etc over voice chat :P
P.S. If we wanted your ugly Michael Jackson / Gollum pic, we would have stole it and used it already for ourselves, we just don't want it.

They should have figured out long ago that people have differences of opinion and that everyone is entitled to their opinion. It can be defended, argued, and even changed. And that is what this site is about.
What would they have felt if everyone posted nothing but love for a game, they rushed out excitedly to buy it, and they felt completely the opposite about the game? Would they think their opinion was wrong and shouldn't be posted?
That is one thing I don't like about the internet. Everything is now labeled trolling. People even consider rational discussion trolling. It's sad.

Strange, my impression is that we get more and more fanboys.
Okay, some of them are really busy bitching about other games, but I guess that will change once GW2 releases.

What ticks me off is the self-entitled people and the vocal minority.

I blame the last two years plus of crappy MMO's. We gamers just can't take any more garbage so we have to come here to vent our frustrations.

This is a carebear forum, we need more unrestricted forum PvP without all the Mod hand-holding and happy butt-pats. I'm not paying $15 a month for this.

The community at the website has taken a significant down turn over the past couple years.
I know your already out of here but just some suggestions to others thinking about leaving here (god knows I have thought about it):
1: Block User is your friend. I've had to use it a lot it seems recently because of trollish behavior. I might miss some "good" posts from them but I hate stupid people. "Spotlight Poster" my ass! More like "Spotshite Poser"!
2: Sticks and Stones and all that jazz. Applies not just to personal attacks (the Mods do a great job of weeding those out). If a game or subject is good and you know it don't worry what other people think about it. They are either Trolls looking to piss you off or just don't know what the fuck they are talking about and are therefore below you.
3: Hell is other people. I guarantee where ever you end up at will have the same shitty posters as here (maybe not so many though I admit). So don't be suprised.
Overall this is a good aggregate place for info and opinions on games. The Staff posters are much more positive than the average poster. But you will also get the real dope on what is bad with the average poster.

I've started blocking people who deliberately twist my words or try and bait me with something irrelevant like someone today dismissing my opinion because I'm a GW2 fan, or more often than that, people who just throw personal insults. You don't have to tolerate anyone you don't want to.
Like I've said, I WILL be leaving here myself once GW2 is out. Some of the people are obnoxious, sure, but I can live with that. It's just that I'll be too busy playing for years to keep up on any new MMOs. I just won't care.

There are times when one must ask themselves is it my passion that truly frightens you? Or your own?
Well, this forum has always been slanted towards a negative opinion though. I think that's part of it's appeal, if a game is bad you'll find out there, not on the official forums where they lock / delete threads.
And I mean, if you want nothing but positive opinions on games, there are sites like that, most fansites of games are like that, not like you don't have a choice.
Just my 2 cents.
