if diablo 3 has a forum here then so should call of duty and battlefield, or maybe just maybe blizzard paid to get diablo 3 a spot on this site.
So we should remove Guildwars 1 also then?
guild wars has a centralized hub where hundreds of people gather, i think that qualifies it as an mmo. diablo 3 is a hack and slash rpg with multiplayer options. don't get it twisted.
Oh well then that settles it. Thousands of people will gather in the lobby of D3. I guess it's an mmo by your definition.
you can't physically see these people though, you cant run around a city and see 100's of other people buying and selling items. if you can do that in diablo 3 then i retract my statement.

I wonder why we didn't get a single similar topic for games like Torchlight 2 and Path of Exile. Blizzard hating hypocrites

Well, as it stands out, I am more interested in Diablo 3 than any other MMO out there (except for WoT).
But ofc, WoT is not a pure blood MMO.
The point is the site needs attention, if you want to pick on something, let's talk adds.
Or not, since the site also needs money.
So what is the whole point of all this?
The whole point is that they have nothing better to do than to hate on Blizzard. The amount of Diablo hate going on these forums is crazy.
I think the Blizzard haters are bitter cause Diablo 3 broke the records for the most preordered game and because WoW's subs have not dropped this quarter.

By that definition Diablo 1 was a MMO. So was almost every online game. I'm all for being inclusive but that's just silly.
I know, I'm just being dumb. I really don't think GW 1 is an mmo though is my point.

GW1 is not an MMO. There's no persistant world and you can't have more than 12 people in place.

it is an mmo because you can interact with 100's of players in the same zone. you can trade and craft beside hundreds of other players, then form a group from hundreds of players. the city is an mmo city, the world outside is designed for small group play.

No. There's no persistant world in the game so it's not an MMO. Also you can't have tons of players playing together. Those outposts were glorified visual trade hubs. But you can't interact with other people in any other way than click trade on the m^

umm ok ya i knew D3 wasnt a mmo long ago and i thank god it isnt...we dont need more mmo's we need a change. So bored with the same old mmo that D3 is a welcome change for me.

Perhaps the term MMO needs to be redefined? While the "world" of Diablo isn't persistant in the way of games like Everquest, World of Warcraft, Aion, TERA Online, etc., the (RM)AH for example *is*. Same goes for other aspects of the game, like items and the characters. In PoE's defense, that game felt more like the original Guild Wars, with towns that function like hubs and instanced areas to battle in. Guild Wars is also listed here and I believe it belongs on these forums.
Of course, Diablo 3 doesn't have these persistant hubs, but to deny a spot on these forums is just limiting ourself to niches.
On topic, this thread is a poor attempt on "criticising" Diablo 3 of the OP. Fact is, that there're more "bad" games, then "good" games. This was so in the past as it is now. People in general should take off their nostalgia goggles. The way I see it, Blizzard took the core mechanics of Diablo 2 and improved them. Diablo 3 seems like a game for everyone, with Normal mode being accessible enough so that my mother can enjoy it (if she enjoyed action rpg's like Diablo that is), while Inferno (probably) being to difficult for me to finish. I fail to see how this can be a bad thing, unless some insecure people are scared that perhaps more people will enjoy the franchise that they (wrongly) thought of as theirs.

If people call DDO and SWTOR MMOs then I would consider D3 an MMO. People blurr Co-Op or OMG games with MMOs anyways.
OP should necro some early posts from the Guild Wars (not GW2) forums. There is nothing new under the sun.
