Do not drown out any complaints people have with the game.
Complaining is what makes the game better.
I jump up the fanboys there, too. Though, in all honestly, they're nothing like the BioDrones. In all my decades of gaming, I found the worst of the worst are the BioWare fanboys. I finally stopped posting at the BioWare forums during the days of Dragon Age:Origins development.
Anytime someone would ask for even the smallest technical things, like free movement in the Z-axis, the fanboys would troll the hell out them. Tell them how stupid they were... Just flame and personal attack the hell out of them. And if they fought back, they were banned by the heavy-handed and very partisan moderators while the fanboys didn't suffer any consequences.
So I left. I knew it was only a matter of time before I defended some poor dude for telling the truth and got attacked then banned. Or that one of my criticisms of what BioWare does brought down the ire on me. And since that's where I store all my NWN key-codes in case I ever want to reinstall... I really felt I couldn't take that risk, so I left.

Here we go again. Is dead, and still have more subs than any other P2P MMO but WoW, most of the playerbase is waiting for free tranfers to come back. Even if they lose 300k more subs in the next weeks, how a MMO with 1mill of subs is dead?. What about tera Then, 11 servers, just 2 of them heavy, 1 standard and the rest is Low, but lets just say that SWTOR is dead.
Well, in comparison, nobody really expected Tera to do much of anything.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Here we ago again.... Subs are a lagging indicator of health. Those subs, in March of 2012, showed a total drop of 43%:
Units purchases through March 31st: 2.200.000
Subs through March 31st: 1.300.000 (EA)
Total losses through March 31st: 900.000
Every play-time trend down:
Percent time servers in 'light' in March: 50% on average for month.
Percent time servers in 'light' in May: 90% on average for month.
So, so what if it had 1.3 million subs in March? It had 1.7 million in December, sold an HALF A MILLION UNITS, and still finished at 1.3 million. Since then it's sold 90K and people are still dropping like flies. That's a death spiral.
I'm still playing TOR, and enjoying myself. I'm sorry that it upsets some of you.
If you like it, that's great. Personally I enjoyed the game a lot myself, at least until I reached the endgame. Then it all went down the drain for me, especially the serious problems that the engine has with displaying multiple characters pvping (illum lag!), the many exploits (speed+teleport hacks being used widely) and tons of afk bots in pvp arena. When 1.2 didn't keep the promises Bioware made about it but instead made PVP even worse I just couldn't force myself to pay for this single player/small group coop game anymore.
But yes, different people, different tastes. No need to hate anybody for that.

So sick of hearing all these stupid dead game posts on practicly every mmo on this site. I don't like SWTOR but you people need get you're facts strait, or at least do some research for a baseline to backup you're claims, because most of the crap I read on this site is 80% bullshit.
SWTOR is not a dead game, regardless of how many (I HATE THIS GAME) people "think" it is. There is just as many people playing it as there is Age of Conan, Rift, Everquest 2. None of these games are dead, and won't be for a very long time. Just because you and I don't like the game or understand why people play them doesn't mean they are "Dead"
You want to know what a "Dead" MMO means? it means when there is only 1 or 2 servers left and the company has no more resources to put into the game anymore, It usually happins right before the game get's shut down IE (SWG, Auto Assualt, ShadowBane, Tabula Rasa, The Matrix Online. <-- Those are dead games
Understand?
No probably not...
It amazes me the human race has surivied this long..
Actually I would classify a DEAD game as one that no longer exists, such as SIMS Online, Star Wars Galaxies and Tabula Rasa. Games that have few servers are on life support, but aren't dead yet. If TOR's plug gets pulled, then folks can say that it is dead.
I'm still playing TOR, and enjoying myself. I'm sorry that it upsets some of you.

The news isn't getting better for them after the layoff statement. But you know what, looking at how the financial world is internationally, I don't really blame the game, financial meltdowns are happening left right centre up and down and that will impact any business, no matter how successful it wants to be, reality is a hard dose of medicine to take for game company's right now, look at 38 Studios and their recent meltdown for example.

This point can't be stressed enough. The bad economy has affected everyone including the gaming companies. It's just hard for people struggling to justify a 15 dollar a month expense for a video game that you already bought the box for. That's why I think if GW2 is successful, the days of the monthly sub will be over.

EA came out and said it is dead too, are they GW2 fanbois? LOL @ Not a priority for development and Not in the top 5 earners for EA despite a hefty development cost. When a product shatters all records in production cost by a longgggggg shot, and the rest of it's products are mire fractions the cost, and they call it "not a priority". That kind of speaks for itself with little to no need for comprehension. I think more can be said for lack of comprehension for all in denial.

Nobody, not even EA puts that much resources into a game they did not expect to be the top priority for a long long time. Every month TOR should be as good as a major release from their console games. By their own admission TOR is underperforming their expectations and profiting less than their single player games except Tiger Woods Golf lol. How damning is that? I mean it’s only outperforming Tiger Woods Golf? Who plays that game? Isn’t that an old farts game? If anyone ever wondered what a niche game is I would point at golf games.
So yes it’s failing and it’s failing big, very big, incomprehensibly big, not only by a growing number the “vocal minority” but by the company itself. Why is that so hard to comprehend?

It is still not dead..dead will be when EA / Bioware shuts down the server. Till then people can keep grasping at straws and put their own twist on meaning of 'dead'.
TOR is dying. Other, better game are coming. I can't wait to read the thread where they document the downword spiral on this site.
Would be great if they predicate it with their other article they did where the writer's wrote those ridiculous reviews after playing the game for a few hours.
Oh. MSNBC awarded Star Wars: The Old Republic as game of the year! PCGamer told us for a FACT that each story had 200 hours of unique main-class story! I didn't have 200 hours to get to end game AND 80% to 90% were non-unique side-quests.
(For the record, BioWare was the one that said it was 200 hours. They started touting that 'fact' in 2010. The PCGamer reviewer was just a fanboy giving a fanboy review.)
I read that PCGamer review, it was the biggest laugh i've ever had. The guy gave it 93%. So much for their grading system. What a joker.

What I dont understand is where the hell was all the outrage in all the beta and CB. If the game was this bad I wouldnt care about any NDA, I would tell them to stick it and tell eveyone what the hell was actually going on.

i played in the very last phase of CB then obviously on the stress test... some of the stuff I couldn't beleive like the optional match to chest had a universally positive feedback then gets taken out and the excuse given is there was not enough variation in the types of armor(so many are just color retextures) so it would take away from the "feeling" of getting a new piece of armor.. there were many others but it was one oafter another of them feeling they knew better and giving BS excuses for things. Then the Hi Res thing was pretty ridiculous.. but anyway doesn't matter to late now whats done is done.

I never liked the idea of "the player should know who they are fighting based on gear and weapons." I also remember the dev video on Tattoine where he did the public quest to find the sith and pointing out that the NPcs were just standing around waiting to be killed. I was told by certain people here that the AI was just turned down for the demonstration. When I finally got to run it myself, the AI reacted the same exact way.
Yes. The game is dead... wait.... except for the fact that they have 1.3 million subscribers.
For me, I'm not saying that the game is "dead" in terms of subscribers and the money EA/BioWare were raking in.
For me, SWTOR is "dead" in terms of gameplay. It is by far the most soulless, most loneliest playing Massive (snicker) Multiplayer (snicker) Online RPG that I've ever seen.
There may be alot of players still on SWTOR. But you sure don't notice it ingame. The game has been designed in a way where the population is heavily divided. Are you telling me that in the entire SWTOR game settings, there is only ONE player hub out there? For each faction? Not to mention that SWTOR takes the term "Solo-Friendly" and runs away with it to the bank, forgetting that an MMORPG should... you know... be heavy in the "Multiplayer" part.
Let's also not forget the soulless Space Game.
"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." "Bad" does not equal "dead".
And I am not so sure TOR really is bad, it just shouldn´t have a monthly fee since it doesn´t really have enough multiplayer for that. It would have made a good B2P game.
As much as I enjoy the IP and the past products of Bioware I have to agree that the game feels like a single player game with dungeon and pvp lobby. This wouldn't,t bother me so much if it didn't,t have a sub, but the current status of the game on my server is sad. Outside of fleet I am lucky to see more than 2 unique players on a planet... I am the only remaining member of my guild and have had no luck finding another one. $15 is just asking too much IMO. The game was fun when it had a population.
Cheers!

It really did feel like a single player game much of the time. When I got together with guildies it felt like co op, but I've played team based fps with a lot more people then I ever saw in game. It never felt 'massive'.

I will hold." (First Lieutenant Clifton B. Cates, US Marine Corps, Soissons, 19 July 1918)
"Bad" does not equal "dead".
And I am not so sure TOR really is bad, it just shouldn´t have a monthly fee since it doesn´t really have enough multiplayer for that. It would have made a good B2P game.
Cheers!

It really did feel like a single player game much of the time. When I got together with guildies it felt like co op, but I've played team based fps with a lot more people then I ever saw in game. It never felt 'massive'.
