I would wait for a trial, if I was the one you were asking solely. Worst leveling experience I ve had in an MMO in years. Very boring quests, combat isn t as great as some are saying, at first maybe, but after awhile, not so much. BAMs are really nothing special, especially after doing 20 or so. It really is a quick leveling, nothing to do at end game MMO.
All the "OMG OWPVP in this game is great." It can be fun, but when the "I can t wait for BGs to come out", OWPVP will be pretty much dead.
I just don t think this game is better, then any P2P MMO out atm, so I can t suggest you try it on that alone. If you don t care about wasting money, then go for it, otherwise wait for a trial.
Probably the best way is to make up your own mind by playing a trial of the game.
Now I believe I can send you an invite for a trial from within my frogster account if you are interested in giving it a go. So if you do wish to try it out send me a message with your email and I'll see what I can do.
Sure, it's a grind, but the aim/dodge, etc. combat and graphics make it more bearable in my opinion. Well, that and grouping with friends so you can get through quests faster and explore new places. I've had a bit more fun leveling after joining a guild too even though I typically lvl alone in most games (besides dungeons of course); adding the GvG challenge and guild convos helped a bit.
I played the game for a couple of weeks and cant say that I am overly enthusiastic to load the game. The game is gorgeous and the combat is fun but the game is an extreme themepark game which means it is on rails so I got quickly bored (lvl 20 Priest is my highest char but I have tried them all except Sorceror).
I play on the PvP server and the only PvP I have seen is getting ganked a couple of times, other than that nothing.
I still got some time left so I will continue level my Priest to see if the game opens up but I am pretty bored to be honest.
What mmo would you recommend? I m quiet bored these days and would like to try something new.
Most new mmos are not that great at the moment, I would say jump on the DayZ train which has a sticky thread in the Pub Forum currently and loads of people loving it, for just 15$ for the game without a monthly fee you cant do anything wrong. There are currently at peak times 150-200 servers, most of them full or very well populated.
Wait in the meanwhile for GuildWars 2 and look for the reactions if the game is worth it. And if you like pvp in general, currently many multiplayer games offer more fun than the latest mmorpgs.
