This caused many, and I do mean many, unhappy customers asking for a refund from Blizzard. Of course, Blizzard refused.
If they allow refunds, they can't report 6.5 million happy customers, can they?
Metacritic alone is proof that they allowance of refunds would have crushed D3 into non-existence.
They do allow refunds, sometimes. If you purchased the game through the battle.net website you can call their 800 number and get a refund. It must be within 30 days of purchase. I am actually in the process of doing it now, the hard part is getting through the phone lines, the queue is always full. The WoW deal where you paid for a year and got the game is non-refundable. Now why they wouldn't allow Koreans to get refunds I don't know.
I have a friend that plays from Taiwan and he told me his latency is awful when connecting to the Korean servers. He has lots of connection issues as well. I think there are quite a few unapphy people who want their money back.
Huh its about time, if only blizzard would get into seriously deep shit over this, i mean they break the rules all the time, even there own terms of use so no doubting that this wasnt going to happen.
Ehhh........kind of extreme. But then again Im not surprised.
I might be mistaken, but I think it was in Korea, that a jealous woman erased her boyfriends Lineage 2 characters and they actually had her friggin arrested. For that.
Most PC games cant be refunded as you can just copy the thing and play it. However.....well......with D3 does that really apply? Because you cant. So? Give the people a refund Blizzard. Not really worth the hassle is it? Then again, as a consumer, knowing the deal already regarding refunds, maybe they should have researched the game first.
But on second thought any heat Blizzard gets for this online only garbage I applaud. So *golf clap*.
I hope they left the servers, otherwise people will be waiting even longer to play.
I wonder if the bandwidth simply exceeded what Blizz paid for, or exceeded what the network could handle. That would be sort of funny...so many people wanted to play Diablo 3 that the internet died.
Same as is happening here in Europe right now. Unable to login for over 6 hours and counting. Now since over 2 hours ago they simply just dissabled login completely!
Blizzard has a specific amount of bandwith bought in, has a max capacity for their login servers.
Both have exceeded. Blizzard refuses to pay for more bandwith and more hardware to increase capacity.
Blizzard just hopes enough people will give up after a sertain amount of tries, so both bandwith and login servers settle down by itself.
The blue responses are just copy paste lies to pretend they are doing something about it.
Anyone actually believing this is just naieve! As Blizzard knew these problems / limitations already from the Open Beta weekend, which was over a month ago!
And now more than two weeks after official launch, the login issues (now infamous error 37 and 73) continue.
This is not an MMO! We all have already paid in full, without any chance of refund! So Blizzard doesn't care we cannot login most of the time. As they expect the activity to drop over the coming weeks and things fixing itself!
I really hope the Asian government has gotten hold of the bandwith and hardware contracts and other documents that will expose Blizzard and how greedy they have become!
Though the server issues cannot be excused, you're assuming a whole lot in your post, you have no idea wether blizzard are not getting more servers online, sounds like they cannibalised the RMAH servers to add capacity hence the delay in the RMAH being released.
During the beta weekend the US servers were serving over 1 million players from all regions - If I were blizzard I probably would have said thats sufficient but they got it wrong, again not excusing Blizzard but your dumb if you think this is how Blizzard wanted things to go and they simply don''t care right now.
They're looking for a bribe. Which they will call a fine. Which is the same thing the US and EU were looking for when they raided Microsoft. Someone didn't get their palm greased.
Lol, I think you are getting confused about Korean government with your own corrupted country.
South Korea are trying to build a country name brand like Japan and they are almost there.
And their No 1 rule is.... Don't fk with their gaming.
Having to log in to play a single player game, or a single player portion of a game is BS. It was annoying when i had to log into Steam just to play Skyrim, and i haven't even bothered to buy Diablo yet because i was guessing that it would be a total cluster at first. I had planned on buying it a couple days after release but with all the problems and the stupid decisions on Blizzards part I think i'll just wait until it hits a reduced price, if i bother picking it up at all. Just too many games out there to be stuck trying to play software that doesn't even work.
Hilarious. I hope they get done for it. They ended up with this kind of mess by being to greedy and trying to save a bit of money on server power and the idiotic "you have to log in to play single player" policy.
For me D3 is unoriginal, simplistic, overhyped clicker which belongs in the 90'ties so I was smart enough to stay away from this time waster.
Since the beginning of digital media, the most common policy has been not to honor a refund on opened, installed, or registered media. When your local game shop offers to buy back your game for $9, that is not a refund.
Let me state that I am not trying to start a rumor. I have no evidence to support what I am postulating. I don’t expect a company as wealth as Blizzard to limit its login capacity and just wait for demand to equal supply. I suspect that demand is artificially being driven higher, by a denial of service attack. Blizzard may not want to officially announce or admit that they are under such a cyber attack. Again I have no knowledge of information that they are, this is just my interpretation of events. I know this doesn’t fit in with everyone else's hopes and dream for Blizzard’s demise.
If a cyber attack is underway I expect Blizzard is fighting it. The attack may be coming from third parties involved in RMT(gold sellers) in Blizzard games, now negatively affected by the RMAH. Or from groups(fans?) fearful of their games (GW2? or any 2012 release) competing against the Blizzard product.
Pardon any spelling errors

I don't think GW2's fans are fearful of competing against Blizzard. Like, at all.
Maybe, just maybe, some of the big asian gaming companies like Nexon saw an opportunity to damage Blizzard and used their influence to "encourage" the Korean govt to act ?
Just cleaned up the thread a bit, removing overly political or policy-based comments. Please keep the discussion to the Blizzard-related happenings and not on the particular policies of one government or another. Thanks.

Finally got a refund here in NA. Only took five days of phone calls and finally a 100 minute wait on hold so it's defintely possible. I still find it odd they will not honor refunds from Koreans. I have no idea how the laws relate though. They should be entitled to refund just as I am IMO.

Blizzard = horrible excuse for a company
Without getting too political its not really that funny or suprising...

Bought D3 digitally.
Beat it.
Saw where how crappy the online service was.
Saw where the AH was going.
Had it digitally refunded.
Glad I did.
Good for South Korea, NA is too Chicken shit to ever try something similar...
found a better solution, I avoid Activi-Blizz Products
an example to be followed by other ccountries
