Couldn't tell you right now, because I haven't tried it yet, but I grabbed one of the beta keys for this upcoming beta weekend to check it out.  There might be some left here on MMORPG.com, if you haven't grabbed one yet.

This...     And of course i will be playing because GW2 hasnt released yet.
I'm still on the fence- I really disagree with their pricing model and fear that (following their own trends) the game will have crippling bugs until 2-3 months after release. On the other hand I haven't enjoyed a beta this much in well over half a decade and would hate to miss out on a great MMORPG experience.
The only bugs that were crippling were the way some passives reacted to gether.  Word is the CB testers did a really good job logging combat log data, and raised the red flag weeks ago.  I've also heard that the devs have been all over these things since the red flag was raised.

Definitely good news, you must be aware of why folks tread cautiously around Funcom regarding launches however. I don't think there are a ton of people following this thread, but I'll even add this, just for argument's sake:

They fixed them. In between the time I first responded an now. All gone.

would any1 who's played beta care to give me some info on how the pvp is in this game?

I hadn't really given this game much attention but I got a beta key for this weekend so I figure I'll check it out but it MUST have solid pvp or I won't be interested & I know that'll be tough to get from just a beta weekend impression.

I'm mainly interested because I'm probably the only FC fanboy in the entire world. My 1st mmo was AO & maybe I look at my 2 years in it through rose colored glasses but I fk'ing loved that game. It had bugs & lag & problems but it was seriously in-depth, didn't cater to noobs & the whole story & world were completely original. It wasn't loaded with dwarves or star wars b.s. that I've seen a billion times in other games, it was something they created & you could tell they poured their heart & souls into it.

The pvp was also pretty amazing with tower wars even if they did crawl to like 5fps with 150+ people on the screen. So I'm looking for a new story & world to play in. Something not fantasy based, if I have to see another elf I'm gonna go on a rampage. It's just so cliche & tired.

So some questions if anyone wouldn't mind answering for me:

    -how's the pvp?

    -is it 3 faction pvp?

-is it battlegrounds or open world?

-is there pvp servers & if so are you flagged at all times?

-any open world control points/nodes to fight over?

    It's 3 faction pvp
    2 wow style battlegrounds
1 daoc style battleground with another in the works, the current one has 4 "keeps"
    No pvp servers
Control points to fight over in the daoc style battleground, each of the 4 points gives society wide bonus, all 4give 5th bonus, its fully persistent, not a match like say lake wintergrasp

    -good

    - yes

    - bg(2) and huge zone, and free for all arenas(3)

    - no open pvp, so no pvp servers.

    - no. but pvp zone works like that.

cool! thanks for the quick replies guys. The lack of open world pvp is a bit disappointing but the rest sounds really good. the whole zone wide bonuses for your faction when you control the nodes has always been my favorite pvp reward, as long as its done right correctly & the bonuses are actually worthwhile. Guess I'll check it out this weekend, got me excited now!

Be aware that this weekend is another PVE area opening up and more of the skill wheel. The PvP is the following weekend.

Innovative missions and entertaining story? That is rare in MMOs. The downside is no1 has seen PvP yet, and I hate imbalanced PvP games. If they can mantain a well made PvP system with balance, that will seal the deal for me.

I need a filler game until GW2 is released, perhaps this will do. I will find out this weekend. Thanks to everyone who posted here, I'm sure you've helped many decide.

Trully if it were other games i would feel the same about the open world pvp, but with how the game is kinda based around the idea of being part of three factions that are fighting against a darkness that is larger than even all three combined it makes sense as you are basically being told to focus on keeping this thing at bay. I mean what good would it be to destroy your enemies to rule the world at large if you allowed it to basically  corrupt and destroy it shortly after. Also the three factions are not completely the only factions as you have several other smaller ones (like the orochi group, and such.) that also seek the same yet the alliance of the three keep them in place, so it is kinda like three enemies grouping up to keep others from getting what they view as theirs from them an protection too. Honestly i find the many reasons for the sanctioned fields where pvp can happen, the meaning behind winning in these places, and such as a great an well put together bit of lore in the game. I would lvoe to see pvp kind of fuel some parts of pve like giving access to instances, or unlocking new parts of pve zones when you hold different parts of the warzone.

Everything makes sense lore wise with PvP.  The instances are different locations from the PvE locations and expands the real world.
