Well, I finally got to play, and unfortunately I can tell this game is not going to get good reviews. I wish it were; I really do. But it is what it is. The good news is MMOs usually get better with time, so while I wont be playing at launch I'll definitely check back in in the future. I really wish FC the best of luck.

game play its fine, story immersion is acceptable. i personally hate the controls and lack there of, with rekeying stuff.

i dont know about the other people playing this game, but i personally hate feeling like im a Korean Esport gamer playing SC1...

im an FPSer i use my mouse to shoot not fking look at the trees. only real beef i have with this game is the controls.

some of the quests are a pain in the backside though, had to boot up google on my 2nd pc to find spoilers on how to complete one of the many tiers of a quest.

but thats part of the game play immersion so i dont rag on that too much.. just the fking controls piss me off.

i guess enough people will love/play this game to make it worth its production value. i personally am only going to play until my beta weekend key expires "monday" morning.

From what I played it seemed half decent.  The combat killed it for me, but maybe that is just me.

On a side note, who cares about reviewers these days.... especially in MMOs, you really have to struggle to find a decent review. IGN gave SWTOR a 9.2/10 after clocking up 150 hours of gameplay... madness.

I heartily agree. An MMO that plays like a console? No thank you!

Its a good concept, but an overall bad game right from the get go. It will have a niche, a small group of players who will enjoy it...and like Age of Conan will eventually be a free to play game as a means to hopefully reach a larger audience.

One of the smaller things that annoyed me was the generic asian stereotyping. If you create an asian themed faction character, you are presented with a city that is supposed to be Korean, yet is riddled with chinese and japanese imagery, signs and a utter generic asian look. Asian players will probably find it insulting.

The game and much of its dialog feels like its trying to hard without really offering anything with real content.

Doesn't sound like you played around with it much.  If you had I am sure you would have realized that there was no need to open google on another pc.  There is a built in web browser for finding information.

I'm hoping they make automated play for this so I can sit back and watch Secret World like an animated movie.  That might be worth paying for.

The game has a great plot and a great central idea for an mmo,

It just doesn't feel anywhere near the quality and polish of the other games that came out recently or are coming out soon.

The environments look pretty good, but the character models and a lot of the item models/textures in the world just... don't really look that great.

I think this game should've cooked in the oven longer.

This games graphics are really nice, animations are decent, voice acting is good, atmosphere is good, but the combat is just SOOO awful! It's seriously like playing a rouge in WoW (oh NOES I compared it to WoW!) and tapping one skill up to 4-5 times to burn the accumulated points with another skill. EVERY weapon plays the same, even ranged and melee feel the damn same. Them feeling the same would be fine if the combat at all felt satisfying.

Everytime I encountered a mob I just sighed with a "ugh here we a go again...", it should be "YES a mob I want to fight them!" you know, because the combat in any GAME should be fun and not a chore? Even AoC's combat was much better and they made the damn game. It's a shame that such a insanely huge mechanic was so underdeveloped when you would be doing it for hours upon hours.

Such a dissapointment, I'm glad I got to play the beta before buying this trash.

First off, Its Beta. Why is an FPSer playing MMORPGS, and complaining that the controls arn't more like a FPS? As far as the second PC, you do know that there is an ingame browser, or did you just play 30 minutes? How is it anything like a console game?

God, explain your posts please. lol.

The game was intended to be ported to consoles. It will never get ported but console limitations did influence many game designs

Dragon represents any nationality that believes in their philosphy that is why Seoul has japanese, chinese and just any other culutre and their imagery being represented. And when you have so many nationalities living in once place it is hard not to see their influence  around the city.

I am pretty sure Asians are not that fickle minded to feel insulted by such trivial things. My GF is Japanese and she was laughing after i showed her your comment.

Because once the content runs out (pretty quick) there will be nothing left to do (see also SWTOR), this is another "one month wonder", fun at the start but it will lose its appeal as soon as you reach the end game.

The combat is awful, the only redeeming feature of this game are the quests which are a bit more challenging and interesting than your average MMO.

The settings are also great, but this game feels too much like a single player game and as soon the players runs out of content, people will move on something else (that's incluse you )

You and I have something in common then.

Is she FROM Japan and have lived there? I doubt it, but just assuming she is then she would know the Koreans would be offended by the japanese and chinese design elements representing Seol. You may or may not know this, but Japan did invade Korea and killed off many of their citizens, there is some negative resentment that remains behind.

The point however is that its often silly and sometimes can be seen as offensive when the asian culture is mish mashed together into some generic form of imagery, where often the artist dont even know the difference in languages and put mixed up signs all over the place just to help create the image of asian culture in the eyes of a non asian. By asian I also do not mean ethnic, but those who live and continue to live in asia.

Eitherway it was a small annoyance for me personally as I clearly stated, and if she's "laughing" over my opinion then well, that says a lot about how she and probably you in proxy think.

If game feels like a single player why not group up? days of forced grouping are gone my friend. Every quest is shareable and most of them are very challenging as solo. Every mission i got was in 'hard' category and got my ass handed to me several times. But then i teamed up with my friend and we did everythig together.

How hard it is to ask for group in general chat and team up? it is not a single player game, players want to play that way. Sorry but devs are not going to force you to group up. Players need to make an initiative and form groups.

Also, regarding that pretty quick remark. I started playing the moment serveres were up and now on Sunday morning i still have half of the Kingsmouth left. I have been playing like crazy around 10+ hours a day (unhealthy i know) an i am not done yet. That is shit load of content and i don't think i will be able to finish Kingsmouth even tomorrow.

Game is very content heavy and skill wheel alone will keep people busy for months.. This MMO was never gear based gear grinder. it is about meta game, skill wheel and skill decks. And clearly not the game for you.

    The game is really fantastic.

I don't give a shit if it gets bad reviews.

Reviews are some of the most over-rated bullcrap in video games today.

Why would Koreans be offended by a video game which is although uses modern day settings has nothing to do with current world and its politics? it is still a fictional world and fictional representation of Seoul which is a home for many nationalitties? yes my wife is from Japan, living in paris for last 10 years. Trust me Asians are not that close minded and i have learned a lot about them in last 5-6 years.

Yes her laughing surely says a lot about how we think as in 'not offended by trivial things in a video game'. I think she knows better how Asian feels than someone trying to speak on their behalf.

Oh by the way my friend i play with regularly is Korean and he could care less how Seoul is represented in a video game full of zombies and supernatural.

I think Funcom are rushing this game just like they did with AOC, this game could have been one of the best MMOs, but still they had to rush it and make TSW look like a bad single player game with all the Solo implemented and unfinished animations and Char customization.

when i was playing this game yesterday it felt as if the core game is still on Alpha stage , the game is totally not ready for release.

Funcom are simply burning this game.
