Following this logic? When did I say no one should play games or have entertainment? I like how you take things out of context. I posted regarding the OP's notion of supporting a company by buying multiple copies. It has nothing to do with self entertainment or gifts, I'm already getting my copy and thats enough for me.
Secondly, I never said there is anything wrong with using your money in w/e way you want to, did I? If you read my post it clearly said: "I'd rather" implying me not the whole humanity.
And lastly, how do you know I don't do volunteer work or help people aside from providing money? And no, providing money isn't the worst possible option, that's just your opinion.
Defensive much, huh?
A logic is a statement implied in a train of thought. It is a simple extrapolation, and something that all humans do. It's not rocket science.
Your opinion was also chastisement about others who differ from it. As was my post. It is a classic 'guilt by proxy' statement, of which I disagree. Nothing more, nothing less.
Note that I not in a single moment directed anything I wrote towards you. I made no assumptions besides what you wrote (the blame game thing). You don't care what I do, and I don't care what you do. It's your choice, as I have written in my post.
Yes, I consider providing money the worst solution. But, it's my opinion only, obviously. Thus, the carefully-placed 'usually'.
It is amazing how people think that any disagreement is a personal attack to someone's honor, integrity, family and religion. Isn't a forum about discussing ideas? Geez.
As long as people have bought the game, it doesn't matter if they get bored quickly and leave, they are always free to come back with no regrets. Also its great if they are having fun playing the game. Otherwise what more does one want?

On the contrary it was your post that came off as being 'defensive'. You took things out of context to disagree with me, saying "following this logic, no one should play games or have entertainment devices at all." No where in my post did I preach to others or say one should not spend money on luxury and give everything to the needy. Your post makes no sense to me.
Lol @ providing me with a dictionary on words I didn't ask for.
Or you can get a damn job and buy your own copy. I would never purchase random copies of a game to give out to random people on some forum, lol, are you serious?
I can suppor the game just fine buying my own copy (or my wife/friends) and buying stuff in the cash shop. Nice try though?
I've already purchased one copy of the game for me..
If my friends want to play it...they can go purchase it...
This whole premise is silly. Put your money where my mouth is? Firstly...don't eat money, it's full of germs. More importantly, I already supported the game by purchasing it, I see no reason to purchase it again for people who may not have any interest in it. Should they have interest they can do the research and decide for themselves. Why would I attempt to essentially guilt someone into playing a game? Here I bought this for you so now you have to play it! PFFFFT, if they want it, they'll play it. End of story, silly OP is frankly silly..
Blahh, Blahh, Blahh, everyone keeps posting…GW2 is awesome, it rocks, it’s the WoW killer etc. And that is all fine and dandy. But it is time to put your money where your mouth is.
We all know someone who is just wasting their time and money paying a sub for a game they have already all but played out. It’s time to just go out and buy them a copy of the game. This will in effect teach them that they don’t have to pay a sub just to log in and sit around a campfire comparing farts. They can instead have all the adventure and excitement of a full blown MMO without having to pay a sub.
The money they will save without a sub will allow them to get a little something for their sweetie as well as get any future expansions.
So help a friend today and you will have helped them for a lifetime of game play. As to those of us who actually pony up and buy that extra copy we will have supported a great game and only helped to make it better.
Note: All you haters keep coming and post all your venom. All you are accomplishing is raising the hype meter that will only get more people turned on to the truth.
Agreed,
Couldnt have said it better myself. Specially the "We all know someone who is just wasting their time and money paying a sub for a game they have already all but played out. That part definitly reminded me of WoW ahaha.
I have played the Beta, and i can definitly say, as i was playing GW2, the whole time i was thinking
"This is one time pay?....REALLY???!?!?!"
Arenanet really did a good job showing, you dont need to pay 15 bucks for a MMO every month.
Specially looking at GW2, its not even just an ordinary MMORPG, its got special features.
I can definitly say, 15 dollar subs time is over, they just arent putting out stuff thats worth 15 bucks a month plus purchaseing the game itself too. Time to ethier lose sub's, decrease it to about 5 bucks a month instead, or really make your game with 15 bucks a month, but i doubt any one can do that.
But of course, i gotta say,- Rift, even though it is just generally an ordinary MMORPG, RIft is somewhat worth the Sub, because they dish out the Content Patchs, and no X-Pack BS or any of that.
As the original poster id like to add even though some people are getting off track here, I appreciate all comments.
More importantly I feel that this is too good of an opportunity to squander for my friends. I have heard all sorts of excuses as to why not to give it a try.
For example one tried GW1 and did not like it and for the life of me I’m having trouble convincing him that this is a whole new ballgame. Even though I know he will love it. So he will get a copy.
Another excuse I heard was “I don’t like non-human or cartoony characters” even though he loved his non-human mythical dwarf in another MMO. So they will also get a copy.
As to my unemployed friends, their getting this for free will be based on their efforts to get re-employed as I do not want to hinder their ongoing efforts.
In the end I am sure they will all thank me for my insight and generosity. And yes this game will be a game changer and I don’t want them to miss this historic opportunity.
The unemployed friends comment....yeh, so you have those kinds of friends too eh? I've got a buddy I used to LOVE playing games with but the guy is 35 y/o lives with his parents and only shows ambition enough to get off of his computer to go to some fast food joint on his parents buck. Seriously SAD.
To add to my previous post tho, I bought one for me. My wife liked the game in beta so technically I'm buying one for her. As a gift for an occasion I could see this, but none of my friends have B-days anytime soon. Maybe if release is close to christmas then everyone gets a big ol' guild wars with a bow...but I'm not in the habit of buying peoples games for them otherwise..
My husband and I already pre-purchased digital deluxe editions. I've also bought it for my mother, who will be 58 this week, yes she's an mmo gamer still since UO, hehe. We've convinced several friends who were old school DAOC'ers with us to play too. We'll gladly be using the cash shop every month(who am I kidding will probably be weekly) to show our support for the game too, since there's no sub fee.
I already bought a digital deluxe edition but my closest friends really hate MMO games. Fortunately, I've shown them how different to all others GW2 is, and I'm very close to convicing them to buy it, or I might buy it for them myself, so they can see the light and we can play together.
Block the trolls, don't answer them, so we can remove the garbage from these forums

It's an idiom. Why do you all get so worked up over this?
Do we really need to support a game by buying multiple copies. I can understand if you want to gift it to friends but it's pointless to buy multiple copies of the game just for the sake of doing so. If their model is viable, they should be able to earn enough profits without people buying 5 copies each.
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
Anyone wanting to buy me a copy just let me know. I'll be your bestest friend for at least a week.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

Sorry, just quoting just about the most irrational reason for spending money that I've ever heard anyone admit to, in public.
Congratulations!
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

Hear! Hear!
I've learned not to pass judgement on a game unless I have personally tried it, but I still believe it's not prudent to pay for a product not just blind, but also for the privilege to beta test it. Still so many wonderful people have said so many wonderful things about the game I'd prefer that trial be sooner rather than later.
You can contact me via PM here in this website and I will gladly accept that offer.
This game is hardly a killer of anything, much less than WoW. I've played in both beta weekends and I've been nothing but disappointed in both. ArenaNet will not be getting my money.

This game has killed everything for me, WoW for sure. I've played in both beta weekends and I've been nothing but amazed in both. ArenaNet surely deserved my money.

I have totally neutral stand against GW2 and I really don't care if it's a success or not... But this message was just a loud "oh god, please someone buy this game so there's more people to play with". Don't worry, I'm sure someone will.

Sure. It was poor me who brought up the plight of the needy to a mere game discussion.
Anyway, you won the discussion, here are your internetz, let's move on with the offtopicness.
I've also bought two extra copies on top of my wife's and mine. I'm sure whichever of my friends i end up giving them to will enjoy them ^^
Hmm, I never had that problem one bit! Must be my age or something, you young kids must have terrible reflexes! lol
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Pfft, noobs. Circle Strafe....Dodge.....Rally.....Win.
Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?
Dodge into red circle...Dead... >.<
Touche.
They can be tough. I have learned to make a split second decision between running or dodging out of a red circle. Paid off for sure.
