And this is in reference to TSW which has the most customization and better combat than GW2 or other MMOs. And DayZ is a great Mod will never knock it but as far as MMOs go TSW is bringing it old school not what todays easy MMOs are all about.
Just confusing me the hate for any game especially when you can tell they haven't played it. Same thing going on in my GW2 guild no one even wants to look a TSW because they say it sucks but not one has logged onto it.
Lol ^.
Please pass the kool-aid, mine seems to be wearing off.
Both are for me RPG games with Zombie content, thats why I did mention it. But even without Zombies the mentioned points stay the same in my own opinion. But everyone has a different taste of gameplay...so enjoy what you like.
You have the right to your opinion of course. Many have already said what they like and don't like about the game, which is fine. However, basically, you didn't like TSW because it's a themepark, mainly after you played DayZ. It's like me saying i don't like a fantasy themepark (which i do btw) after playing sandboxes.
EDIT: Let the game fall or rise to your liking based on it's own features, not by comparing it to a game you shouldn't even in the first place.
Actually I played themepark mmos aswell and the last one was Swtor, but to see too much rehashed content is just one of the issues new mmorpgs suffer currently. No wonder that since many years most new blockbuster mmorpgs struggled. When it comes to TSW, it just gives me a cheap feeling..dont know how to explain this, it is probably just too simple. A little bit of themepark is alright, but too much of it kills a game.

Now you fail hard... Better combat than Gw2? Tsw hard? In the last bw did not even die once only while in GW2 lost count the times I died.
....played Arma2:DayZ for a while and tried The Secret World since it has Zombies aswell. I have honestly to say that the animation, the combat and the overall game has quiete a cheap feeling, reminds aswell on f2p gameplay a bit. Story is alright so far I saw, but at the end we know all from Swtor that story isnt all. I was bored quickly...these new mmos are really only a rehash.

HOLD ON!
If we are going to give ARMA credit for one thing it is NOT the zombie AI, the way they move or there combat, all three are dire. The zombies are stupid, run as fast as a car, can hit you through a wall, can see you through walls, will slow to walking place when they get indoors so you can line up headshots and they have completely erratic movement.
If they make DayZ in to a full game one of the things that needs a lot of work are the zombies.

Pretty good proof you didn't play much TSW. Some missions require you to die (sorry if that's a spoiler).
As anyone who's played Dark Souls/Demon's Souls or similar games can say, death doesn't make a game hard. Nothing in the progression stages of an MMORPG is hard these days. The hard aspects of the TSW missions aren't even that difficult, it just asks you to actually use your damn brain (for some, not all missions) which no themepark MMORPG has done in the past 7 @#$%ing years. Or you can defeat the purpose and look up the answers to the riddles like MMORPGs have been training you to do for the past few.
Dude, I'm know that you're in "TSW defense" mode but let's not get carried away here. The OP may be trolling but DayZ is a really great mod.
Depending on what one looks for. Many of us really couldn't care less about DayZ and people can as well keep that to themselves. Not everyone is in love with a realistic zombie simulator, it's hardly the first game of that nature, tbh. A lot of people prefer for their games to remain, well, games.
Prancing around talking abou how great DayZ mod is and how other MMORPG's suck because they're themepark is seriously beginning to get on my nerves. Maybe you should go join the army if you like realism and permadeath so much.

That's funny. Because the zombies in DayZ are just horrid. The animation is ludicrous. The run speed is freakish. The blood looks like cherry soda...
It's a great mod. But you're just not telling it straight.
ARMA2 is a shooter and it doesn't have the same kind of high-detail you get in a CRPG MMO. The graphics are designed for low-burden, fast-draw so they can support incredibly long sightlines they don't use in MMOs.

MMORPGs suck. Kill 10 wolves tab target, tank and spank, no death penalty garbage. DayZ is an exciting game that actually can get adhrenaline pumping. Zombies feel like zombies and not some boring and completely non-dangerous mmorpg mob dressed up like a zombie.
Sorry. Played it. It's fun. It's got serious problems with the zombies. The vid I linked in my previous post shows just how amature they really are.
And it's fun. It's a great mod. But it's not professional at all. And doesn't come anywhere to the level of quality in animation or AI or anything going on with TSW.

I've played both and like both and (once I buy TSW) will own both. For a fact, TSW does have better optimization. GW2 hasn't been optimized yet. It's still CPU bound.
As for better combat. If find them about the same. They each use the same basic concepts. TSW commits the sin of the GCD. GW2 commits the sin of classes. With weapon swapping, GW2 gives more flexibility for the now. TSW gives more flexibility in the long-run becaues it allows you to make custom builds that are the best for your play-style.
DayZ is in alpha which makes it rather hard saying that it's bad due to animations as they aren't in focus and probably won't be for quite a while.
I also read that someone asked what's better out of Battlefield 3 someother fps and Arma 2.
Arma 2 is a battle simulator and not a fps game in the same meaning and thus it's rather hard comparing it to other generic fps games. I do encourage people to actually play Arma2: CO and not just DayZ as the game itself is splendid (though rather demanding on your pc), but DayZ is also a great mod with great potential but it's still a post-apocalyptical survival full loot pvp simulator than your average mmo.
(On a funny note the Zeds aren't really zombies as they haven't risen from the dead but there are zombies as well ,D)
The speed of the mole and the power of steel is my weapon

Day z seems cool but whats the point, whats the goal. I understand it can be fun but at some point there needs to be some development deeper than to just survive as long as you can than die and start all over. I watched a lot of vids and it seems uber slow paced as well. At this point it's just a cool little mod.
TSW has a lot of great ideas and potential but sill feels a bit all over the place to me. I will be playing this weekend though and hoping to see some more improvements. Did'nt get a chance last weekend and heard they did a lot to improve the game so heres to hoping. But TSW will atleast have a goal and progression to advance the game.

I never claimed that DayZ has no issues. Iam not a fanboy and wont deny issues, even I would change more with gameplay than with animation or graphics, actually I dont have problems with animations rather with the lack of realism for certain gameplay modes in the core game...but Iam playing sim games since a long time already, aswell the Arma series and I know what is demanded in this genre, Iam probably just used to it. Iam telling straight that I wasnt impressed by the gameplay for TSW. I did mention DayZ only because it did remind me on the Zombies, was discussed a lot on the forums here and its a mod which I played for a while, maybe I should have not mentioned it but it was just such a contrast in gameplay.
You know I like both DayZ and TSW. There different to me. Why all the fuss over trying to prove which one is better. Play one, play both, play neither. Simple really.
DayZ is better than most mmorpgs because it is challenging and even staying alive is hard. Triple A mmorpgs are easy, grindy easy but easy. I dont know exactly when, but it was some time after WoW but somehow triple A mmorpgs turned out to something for under-achievers. Something anyone can play and master.
Didnt expect that everyone was jumping on the dayz mod in this discussion, should not have mentioned it but described in an answer before why I did. At the end everyone enjoys other types of games, but the gameplay contrast between both games was just so drastically when it comes to fear, excitement, combat and so on....I would say, delete the tread.

Arma 2 doesn't seem to handle pathfinding, line of sight, and buildings very well. I believe it is more about the engine than it is the talent. Right now, there is pretty much one person working on Dayz. It is in alpha, not beta, and certainly not in a release state.
Also keep in mind that this is a launching point for Arma 3. Doing all this work now will making the Arma 3 version of Dayz even better. Perhaps they will fix a lot of the engine and coding limitations.
They have stated that Dayz may end up being a stand alone title. Sort of like a Counter-Strike was for Half-Life.

I'll agree most all games in the mmo genre are really nothign more than a grind regardless of what game it is. Yet triple A games are about making money as they are made by companies that are primarily first into the market of gaming entertainent, and if they do not make a game that almost anyone can play they are losing money. YEt in no way can justt anyone master playing any mmo even wow, i have seen many players that barely play thier chosen main class well, and can barely play their secondary speccs at all, let alone master all the classes or machanics in the game. Yet you do not need to master games to enjoy them at all, and so the fact some people only play okay in the game, is fine as they are getting thier money''s worth.

I agree, it's the same with any activity, how many people play sports but suck at them? just about everyone!
I play football once a week but I will never be going pro, doesn't mean I can't enjoy it. I go running in my spare time and in a recent 10k race I finished 1046 out of 5000 runners, does that mean I can't enjoy that either?
Loving Dayz, but I can't for the life of me understand why everyone goes on about the zombie aspect. It's a very small part of the game and once you've played for a while it becomes little more than a minor annoyance. The only real danger in the game is other players, my real issue is that the more popular it gets, the less I get from the game but that's probably just me.
The zombies are not the reason for the popularity imo, they may have been the reason people played at the start but they stay because it's a good survivalist pvp game with a harsh death penalty which gives a mock feeling of fear.
----- The person who is certain, and who claims divine warrant for his certainty, belongs now to the infancy of our species.
The only thing keeping me from buying Arma II and downloading DayZ is ironically...the zombies themselves. At least one aspect of the undead.. They move TOO fast. A 28 days rager would come in last place at the track to any Day Z zombie. It would be a DayZ zombie trifecta. Carl Lewis would have lost to a DayZ zombie and The Flash would probably win a footrace but say .."Damn! That's one fast fucking zombie". They look like I'm watching 8mm film on triple speed.
If they could make them realistically fast and mix them in with a batch of slow ones (I know..realism?..but they're zombies..still) . Like for every 5-10 slow ones...there should be a fast (28days fast... not motorcycle fast) zombie to mix it up and give you a surprise.
Just my opinion. Who knows..I might still try it out as long as I don't continually get spawn ganked.
