# CPU - Xenon's CPU has three 3.0 GHz PowerPC cores. Each core is capable of two instructions per cycle and has an L1 cache with 32 KB for data and 32 KB for instructions. The three cores share 1 MB of L2 cache. Alpha 2 developer kits currently have two cores instead of three.
# GPU - Xenon's GPU is a generation beyond the ATI X800. Its clock speed is 500 MHz and it supports Shader 3.0. Developers are currently working with an alpha 2 GPU. Beta GPU units are expected by May and the final GPU is slated for a summer release. The final GPU will be more powerful than anything on the market today; in game terms, it would handle a game like Half-Life 2 with ease.
# System Memory - Xenon will have 256 MB of system RAM. Keep in mind that this number should not be equated to typical PC RAM. The Xbox has 64 MB of system RAM and is a very capable machine.
# Optical Drive - As many have speculated, Xenon will not use Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. Games will come on dual-layer DVD-9 discs. While the media is the same as that of the current Xbox, the usable space on each disc is up to 7 GB. The drive is slated to run at 12X.
# Memory Units - Xenon will use 64 MB to 1,024 MB memory cards. 8 MB is reserved for system use, leaving a 56 MB to 1,016 MB for user data.
# Hard Drive - As many have speculated, Xenon's hard drive is optional. 2 GB of the drive will be used as game cache. The final drive size is still being determined.
# Camera - Xenon will have a USB 2.0 camera. It's capable of 1.2 megapixel still shots and VGA video. Photos can be used in-game and for gamer profiles. The camera can also be used for video chat. It's unknown if the Xenon camera will allow for EyeToy-like gameplay. Developers are currently using a simulated camera driver.
# Sound Chip - Xenon does not have an audio chip in the traditional sense. Decompression is handled by hardware, while the rest of the chores are handled by software. DirectSound3D has been dropped in favor of X3DAudio. The former was deemed too inflexible.

I'd drop the camera and the soundchip to make the price lower than the estimated 5 Ben Franklins it is supposed to cost. I think ill just keep my PS3 in mind. By the way, the PS3 is supposedly a lot more powerful than the next gen Xbox. EGM says that it will blow the Xbox2 out of the water. I believe it too.

I'll be getting both, as I allways do when it comes to consoles. My take is this, with Playstation, because its Japanese you will be getting much better RPG's. With XBOX, because its american, you will be getting much better FPS's. Also, PS2's online play is a joke compaired to XBOX Live. Come on guys, for a console, hell, even for a computer thats some serious hardware they are stocking this baby with.

I can see them making a break even point, but losing money? Either way, a 3.0ghz powerpc cores are weak compared to AMD64 and P4 cores. Is the new xbox going to be 500 dollars?
Ill buy playstation over Xbox, unless the new PS3 is over 400 dollars, which most likely it will be.
Yeah, but even if PowerPC cores are weaker, heck, they've got 3 of the 3GHz ones, and thats still a whole lotta power.

dude game selection for all microsoft platforms is lacking when compared to game selection for Sony platforms.
WHO GIVES A FLAMING SHIT LOG ABOUT HALO, their are so many good and great PS2 games for everyone one good Xbox game. the ratio is at least 4 to 1. and it will continue to be like this until xbox, can steal some of the japanese and foreign developers who are hesitant to work for them cus xbox sold all of maybe 6 units in japan.

Man those Xbox2 specs are REALLY weak for a next gen console. Have you seen the specs for the PS3 CPU? Theyre INSANE, more powerful than a 4.0ghz processor(they say its close or more powerful than a 5.0ghz, and i believe its a 64bit CPU) and the amount of information it processes per cycle is unbelievable. Also, its GPU is going to be more powerful than a 6800ultra, which is way more powerful than an X800.
4 Gighz CPU? lmao 2+2 does not equal a 4 Ghz CPU. It would probably add up to a 3.0 Ghz as well.

A 4 ghz CPU cannot be made out of smaller CPUs because in the world of clock speeds, 1+1 does not necessarily mean 2.

first off its new tech. second off the idea was already going to be done by IBM but was dropped due to heat problems and now a link that partailly has the info... it does not cleary sttate there 4ghz but does state .... just read the article it kinda long so scroll to bottom... and I will keep looking for the article I read before... here
