So Maybe, just Maybe people should think before they buy? You know maybe actually take responsibilities for thier own actions rather then Just Oh wow look i can play for free for the next several weeks let me also get the Lifetime sub sight unseen as i can always after playing for several weeks just cancil. Nah your right thinking is to hard a concept.

No reason to be hateful Winter.  I did think before I bought into the LTS, however I bought it before I actuallly played the Beta.  The game just did not appeal to me as much as I thought it would.  I love the concept but I did not care for the game it self.  If I had to do it all over again I would do exactly the same thing again.  If Funcom did not return my money then I would have accepted it and kept the LTS and life would still be good.  As it is, I got my money back and I can now put it towards something else.

I got my refund for the GM pack so all is well.  I'm still out the $50 but I guess it was just a lesson learned.

I like the concept of TSW but the combat just kills it for me.  Perhaps if the graphics improve it will spark my desire to play the game and I may yet pick it up again to play it.

    Ratero.

For me I think they embarrassed themselves with the "lesbian" scene that opens the Dragon intro - at least for a female character.  Maybe it was a joke someone posted on youtube.  If it is real, it's a pretty sad way to appeal to what developers assume is a mass audience that has no other access to such content.

I don't consider this anything but crap - maybe I'm alone in this thinking but I didn't sit there and see this scene and get all excited about two cartoon females about to have a "session."  Seems tasteless and desperate to try to grab players this way.  Now, show some epic reasoning as to why Dragon is at war with Templar and the Illuminati, show some epic pvp - and then I'm in.  Leave this crap out, though, it was childish at best.

I actually think Funcom has done the exact opposite for this game. They've four Beta Weekends - and every single one of these betas, one could get the keys for free.

On the other hand, Arenanet; that's exactly what they're doing! - only letting people play if they've pre-purchased.

But for some reason no one complains about them? - no, because the cool guys hate on funcom, or something?..seriously, at some point you people most get tired, it's almost four years since AoC got launched. And now Funcom has actually listened; Very little hype, tons of ways to play the game before buying it, NDA lift - and still you're complaining.

Arenanet has and will refund pre-purchases, even if you played the heck out of the game during the Beta Weekend Events. Don't try to smear a competitor that actually gives refunds because Funcom is doing the unethical thing by refusing to refund pre-orders.

That's too bad.  I've been in the closed beta for a couple months but I didn't preorder or spend a dime.  Its easier when you don't have buyers remorse.  People should stop paying to play in betas.

wow. someone has some issues with sexuality it appears.

the scene was not gratuitous, it was not tasteless. sorry if your homophobia kicked in for you.

frankly, i haven't read a single post in which someone went off about how erotic or titillating that scene was. the only people i've seen post complaints have quickly revealed themselves of a particular narrow minded bent.

Yep. You'd think that thought would've crossed the OP's mind wouldn't you? I'm playing with a CB key and I haven't dropped a dime. In fact I gave three away. With most things in life, it pays to be patient... especially with mmos!

Well i bet you still have 30 days gametime, you can play it a month but i think its just not your style if you complain about the grafix.

In my book the grafix are superb.

I guess what I ment to say is the combat graphics I did not care for.  The World graphics are outstanding.  The combat graphics seemed very stiff to me.  Using Blood magic it looked like I was throwing cherry pies at the mobs most of the time with a very stiff arm.  The combat just did not "click" for me.  If the combat graphics were more fluid then I think I would enjoy the game a lot more.

    Ratero.

FYI - it's a well known fact that the combat animations include some placeholders. Personally, I think the production quality here is top notch.

Well, I don't try to smear Arenanet. - I one one thinks it's all fair, that you can't get a refund, if you've used your pre-order/purchace for beta; it's a part of the product. All I did was to make a legit comparison between the two games.

And regarding the refunds, that must be some truly unique cases you're aware of it; because their refund policy is that you cannot - try contact customer service yourself.

People need to stop thinking that a game that releases in a week is going to have major changes to the combat system. What you see, is what you are going to get at this point. Hoping for a different combat system for release is one of the most ridiculously unrealistic things you could hope for.

Well when the beta client everyone is playing is like half the size of the game, and the people on the updated CBT client are telling us the combat is better...id have to think that theres a lot of changes in store in that missing 15 gigs of client size.

Oddly enough..this is literally the inverse of what happend for AOC's launch.  Here the CBT testers are saying great things while the masses of people are complaining about the game...for AoC the CBT testers were spreading doom and gloom while the masses blindly defended the game.

It will be a very interesting launch for this game, so far the people who hate this game the most are devoted GW2 fans.

You keep saying that.   I keep saying put on proof because it's, frankly, something you've probably just made up...

There are plenty of people in these forums that like both games.   There are people trolling in the GW2 forums that like TSW but not GW2.   There are people in the GW2 forums who point out what I'm saying vis TSW players who don't like GW2.

Your blind attack against GW2 players because a few GW2 posters come to this forum and criticize aspects that non-GW2 people criticize doesn't make it a GW2 Fanboys Hate This Game Conspiracy.     Lots of people hate this game.   Lots of people hate this game because of AoC.   Lots of people hate this game because of SWTOR and are gunning for EA whom the wrongfully blame for BioWare's design and implementation blunders.

And lots of people hate it because they have nothing positive in their lives and hating things other people like is what they do...

So, yes, there are some GW2 fans that don't like this game.  But this broad-based attack on nameless "GW2 Fanboy TSW Haters and are trying to DESTROY TSW" thing you've got going on is just bunk.  And acting like they're even the majority...   Pfft...

Sorry, but that is 100% factually wrong.   There were many Beta Key giveaways for BWE2.   You'd have known that if you'd paid attention.

They were given away at the GW2 site.   http://www.guildwars2download.net/

They were given away by PCGamer.   http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/06/01/guild-wars-2-beta-key-giveaway/

They were given away by Ten Ton Hammer.  http://www.tentonhammer.com/giveaways/gw2/bwe2

There some were given away by Game Spy in a teaser link.  http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/guild-wars-2/1224925p1.html  and then you could get more from GS Twitter and GS Facebook...

And there were more.   Thousands and thousands of keys were given out.   I don't know how many because, for me, it wasn't relevant and I never bothered to follow up.

I'm sorry, but I read the comments you're responding too.   There's nothing homophobic about them.   Not even slightly.   Nor is it 'narrow minded.'   He's actually describing a fairly normal reaction to an obvious pandering attempt and describing, correctly, as it is stupid, childish and pandering due to the gratutitous nature of the potrayal.

Don't think that was pandering at all, if this is about the Dragon scene. It's lacking in the Illuminati scene, also on the Templar, so seems silly to me. If they were really pandering to that sorta stuff, you'd see a hell of a lot more of it in TSW, so far that's the only scene and it's consistent with the world and lore of TSW. I thought they did a good job with it, no adolescent like prudeness nor sexualising content.

If you wanna see pandering, take a look at MMO's where avatars run around in barely covering female armor, heavily sexualised female character models etc etc. I say MMO's, but I could also bring up many, many singleplayer games of which the content seem to cater to the adolescent demography a hell of a lot more.
