I'd resub to EvE tomorrow if they opened a new server and didn't allow any transfers.

Worst problem in EvE to me is the stagnation of mega-alliances and ownership of 0.0.

The new player can't do anything fun without joining an established corp. And unless you are in a mega corp you'll be spinning your wheels in high sec and maybe low sec, that is unless the low sec system is neighbored to a mega-alliance owned null sec and you'll still be gate camped.

That first few months of mass frigate/cruiser PvP and 0.0 land grab and being chased out of low/null sec mining by rats would be.. epic.

i'm just messing with Uhwop :D

as for your OP Belarion, yes of course everyone want's to jump in and be competitive, but EvE has built a reputation and a  hard core following on the basis of complicated mechanics and long term game play. it was never made for the quick and "easy rewards plug-n-play" crowd. it's ment for those willing to lose themselves in a very deep, very engrossing, very intricate world. EvE has laways been a game for the long haul, not a game for the quick thrill.  that is what makes EvE so incredible as a game.

the other thing you have to keep in mind about EvE is that it's been out for many, many years and you just cannot pretend to come in and in 2 months be competitive against the guys that have been  playing for 7 years...it's just doesn't make any sense.

EvE is a niche market game. always has been always will be. it is way to complicated and intricate for the WoW crowd.

i highly suggest you try Perpetuum. it is a lot like EvE but since it's been out only over a  year or so the gap between vets and nubes is not nearly as huge as in EvE.

First thing they should do is make some sort of quest-like progression so I can hit max level and get to the end game and the pvp.

Second, they should make it F2P so that the game gets a bunch more players and becomes a whole lot more fun.

    Are you kidding me?

EVE makes lots of money for CCP, it is the most succesfull Indie MMO ever (it is not an AAA)

And why it is difficult to get into it?

It has a good 50 mission tutorial which rewards skill books, ISK (money) expansive Ships and equipment............and teach you how to play and the profession you can do.

What else do you need? It is a Sandbox after all so expect some thinking sometimes

Then find a "fun" game. There's a whole list of games that have what you want on the left side of your screen. EVE is not changing for you. Ever.

As a relatively new player (less than 3 years) and a member of a large alliance, I resent your implication that joining a mega-alliance is a negative thing. A lot of us live quite happily in a large scale organization. Besides large alliances and coalitions get toppled all the time. Goons aren't the oldest but yet somehow they are currently the biggest fish in the sea. How did they get over the hurdle of the players that were older than them?

That is totally, and entirely, the fault of other players.  If you want the space, claim it.

Goons didn't get were we are today because we sat back and lemented on the fact that BoB owned much of the EVE universe.  Goons did something about it.

The only reason we're an "unstoppable force" is because of posts like yours.

Jade Constantine sends an open invite to any all who would be interested in a permanent war with us.  Every day something like a dozen new corps initiate war with us, guess how much space they've taken?  None.  War declarations mean nothing if you're just going to sit back and wait for the enemy to stumble upon you.

The problem isn't the mega corps.  It's everyone that thinks that war means having red targets to shoot at, and zero cooridination or desire to actually go after those red targets.

Pretty sad when our gate camps consist of two guys and a few warp distruption bubbles, and no one even tries to break the blockade.

Well......go to have fun with another game then, plenty of them that fits your description.

People are having fun with EvE just the way it is.

How about respecting other people fun?

Or do you think your kind of fun is universally accepted as the standard?

    Get over it dude.

Define fun. If fun is owning a 0.0 sector then yeah it can take a while to achieve that. If fun is simply engaging in pvp you can do that within the first week with players of an equal skill. If fun is developing a corp you can start that from day 1. if fun is being a merchant you can do that from about day 2 to 3 depending.

The nature of the game is that there are large groups of players all playing within the same universe. Under this scenario it will always take large corps and mega alliances to control the most lucrative space whether is a new server/old server or whatever. There is absolutely nothing preventing you from creating a corp and recruiting people into it with the end goal of owning some 0.0 space. In fact I would bet that large chunks of 0.0 space are controlled by corps with members that are 2 years or less old - they just happen to belong to corps that have been in existence for a while - older members no longer play the game and the younger members step up and fill in the gap. Alliances crumble as different personalities take over and corps come and go over time.

Ultimately control of 0.0 space depends on only one thing - the ability of a leader to hold a large group of independant minded players together that have good pvp skills. If you dont have that you will never controll 0.0 space no matter how long you play - if you do then you will end up controlling something sooner rather than later - most likely by being invited to join an existing alliance.

But you want the only game that is DIFFERENT, to change what it is to become just like every other game, so that it appeals to a group of people it is not supposed to appeal to.  EVE is what it is for a reason, because it appeals to a crowd of gamers that are not interested in those other games.  Gamers that want an immersive and challenging experience that mimics realistic scenarios like an economy, politics, and real loss.

This is why people aren't taking you seriously.  Because you fail to grasp that EVE's concept is currently one of a kind, and changing it to be like other games would entirely defeat the purpose and would go against CCP's development culture.

Just because you can't grasp the game, doesn't mean other people can't.

That is an absolutely perfect response Sheista, I support every part of it.

    Where's the any key?

hmmm sounds dramatic. Im sure people involved were quite riled up. I wonder if the community based gameplay creates such real life feelings in people where you actually feel betrayed/accomplished at times. Almost seems intrquing, but Im sure its just a bunch of grinding or else the game would be popular.

Seems like they've been doing fine without the hand-holding that comes standard with pretty much every other MMO today, with very few exceptions. Does every game need to cater to the 80s? I don't play EVE anymore, because I just don't have the time to put into it, but leave the people that actually want to think in their video games alone...
