Deathmatch Z

SlickShoesSlickShoes Member UncommonPosts: 1,019

Over the last few weeks this game has just descended into one big 50 player deathmatch, everyone I have come across in that time has either killed me or tried to kill me, no matter where I am on the map, or if I don't even have a gun.

When I approach players with no weapons they run away from me, no one at all wants to team up, the voice chat is lacking and I am not even sure if anyone is hearing me declare friendly.

I had a guy last night chasing me all over elektro to try and kill me, I didn't have a gun so all I could do was run away constantly. I walked in to the cherno supermarket with nothing on me other than a torch and the guy in there started shooting at me as if I was hunting him down.

I finally caved in after that and went full bandit, there is no point in trying to help people in this game, the only people playing co op are clans that have whole servers blocked off or are just camping miles away on the map and if you get near them they will also shoot you on sight.

So I could join up with some people outside of the game and then arrange to meet somewhere but that defeats the whole purpose of the game for me, if i have to go online to a forum to apply to a clan to be a survivor.

I am not ragging on bandits here either, I sometimes play one depending on how I feel but currently everyone is a bandit because there is no other way to play the game.

I don't really know if this is a problem with the game or with the people playing it, but when every player you come across tries to kill you then you may as well just avoid players. It's easy to avoid the players because the map is so huge, but if I am avoiding every player in game then what's the point playing multiplayer at all?

Yeah, Right now there is no incentive to trust anyone so no one does. I've noticed this as well. The good news is Rocket has noticed too and wants to fix this. The removal of the starter pistol and beefing up the infected was his first attempt at a fix but it only made it worse in my opinion. He is talking about putting in more of a sandbox "End Game" at this point that will require people to work together to accomplish. Whether this will work or not remains to be seen but at least he's trying.

Yeah I am sure this will turn out to be an excellent game in the end anyway, he seems to really have his head screwed on and each patch is definitley progress!

Another thing annoying me just now is that one hit from a zombie causes me to bleed! The zombies are getting progressively better with each patch though, so I am sure they will eventually be a lot smarter and I will be able to take 1 hit from them without bleeding out.

I'm not sure how they can fix the game to be honest. I love the game to death, but I do not see any solutions to changing it from 'Extreme Survival Player Deathmatch - kill or be killed" to "Extreme Zombie Survival - find allies or die".

Yeah, when I started playing 4 or 5 weeks ago I met random people and we teamed up or they saved my life or they just ran by me, now if you don't kill the person they will kill you.

I think they need to bring something back like bandit skins so we can tell who is a bandit and who is not, the current heartbeat audio thing doesn't seem to really work.

I play with my clan and we tend to stick togeather...

Just try and fine some people to play with on the forums or somthing..

  • DoushiDoushi Member UncommonPosts: 96

I noticed that happening too, but cant really blame them doing it.

Not everyone is rotten apple that kills on sight, but there are lots of people who do it, so is it a suprise that there is no trust between players?

I always play with my brothers and friends, so we are big group of people so people tend to turn around before shooting.

but in a game like dayz, its safer to be asshole. And lets not forget, Multiplayer games always have those dick players.

you can fix mechanics, but you cant fix retarted people

Still if you play it smart(but you have to have some patience) you can get almost all. And believe there still people out there even with guns who won't shoot you on sight, me included.

I still keep my ANTI attitude alive so when i see someone im very careful use Q/E buttons and see what happens surprisingly still players who won't shoot.

Go more land inwards or berizino many towns you rather safe to loot. Air fields, electra, cherno stary sobor are hotspots for snipers.

Go try find little towers inland or heli crashsights some awesome weapons there to be found some very rare weapons.

Yesterday I was being chased by about 20 zombies and some guy had a little shelter defense up so he invited me to come in for safety.  We held off the zombie horde and then he proceeded to bandage me, seeing that he was stocked on guns and supplies and I had only a hatchet left I chopped him down while he was bandaging me and took everything he had, his reaction was priceless.  Survival of the fittest ladies and gents.

Yea, its gotten brutal. Myself and a few clanmates play the game and it got to the point of frustration. Pk up the ass.. So I decided to do something about it. We play Arma, so were familiar with the interface, and we thought it would be cool to help out some new players. That, and start a little gang of our own.

I started a thread in DayZ to help the NooBs and asked them to pm me if interested. It blew the fuck up. I was getting requests 15-20 a day, so after four days I had to shut it down. So many new players were feeling the same way, and they wanted to band together. Hell, we even got our own server, had to.

Now we work in 5-6 man squads with one Sgt per squad that uses command chat so all the boys work in tandem.

    And we fuck shit up.

It's not the game so much as the COD deathmatch kiddies that have flooded it. They will move onto the next new thing in a couple of weeks, and take their ritalin fueled rage with them.

Chris, you are the reason i shoot people being chased by zombies in the legs, and watch the zombies eat them.

Kiddies dont go through the trouble of a MOD, Installing, and learning a new and shitty interface.  Most Bandits that I have talked to in this game are over 25. You assume that anyone who enjoys pk has to be a child, and you couldnt be further from the truth.

Ahh sandbox games. People so enamoured with them they fail to see the one flaw that holds them back from truely growing into awesome games.

    Other players.

A good example is the barbed wire. A cool idea on paper, but in the hands of players, it's just another tool to ruin things by placing them infront of buildings, supermarkets and other places of interests so players can't enter.

This is why sandbox games will never truely flourish. Developers have to restrict everything that is added just to avoid the few ruining it for the many.

I dont want to be your friend or even want to know you, the way you act in game reflects what you are in real life, stab someone from behind that's heroic i admit, no wonder human kind is rotten and you're proud to post this in the forum....

in real situation you dont want to be alone and fight  zombies ,would you kill this guy just to take his guns ?

DayZ is just a game but some people try to play like they were in a real situation, what would you do if you meet another guy

would you kill him at sight? try to teammate? help each other till you find more people and start to form a group?

for this game makes me ask so many questions and makes me act so differently from many others games

you're stronger when you're not alone, try to survive alone you wont last

help each other is more benefit

The fact that you think I would do this in real life makes me question your mental stability, and absolutely nothing I do in this virtual world reflects my real life character.  Its a video game, its also a video game that rewards murders - hence why the game keeps track of them for you.  Most of the time playing Im usually teaming up with a friend or relative who plays so the incentive for me or my group to aid others without benefit is not present. There have been times where I've randomly helped someone or stuck with them, but my playstyle simply prefers killing them and taking their weapons.  Its obvious that yours doesn't and thats fine, you can't go tell someone how to play.

I think one of the problems is that people are coming to DayZ from MMOs and FPS games where gear is all about progression, without understanding that in a sandbox gear only enables playstyles (and limits other playstyles).

So people land in the game, wiki the "best" equipment and where to find it, then stream off to Stary Sobor or the NW Airfields, or Cherno and Elektro, get the "best" guns and then think that the game is pure PvP because they've got gear that is only useful in PvP.

My current character is a week old now and only has an M1911 and a hatchet, the perfect combo for the way I play. It's been almost a month since I was killed by another player (I usually die of zombie attrition) and in the two months I've been playing I've still only killed one other player, and that was because he shot first and I couldn't get away. I took his beans, left the AKM and grenade he had then buried his body so he couldn't retrieve them.

Killing other players is trivially easy in most circumstances, and avoiding them is pretty easy too once you get the hang of it. The closest I got to dying to another player was a few days ago when I was in the town south of the NE Airfield. A guy figured out that I was in the area while he was driving around on an ATV, so I moved around the town dodging zombies and cutting them down with my hatchet when necessary. While the guy was stalking me with his M16 or whatever I flanked right round behind him, waited for him to go into the supermarket then I jumped on his ATV and got out of there.

There's more than one way to adapt to the violent world of DayZ and there's no way I'm going to start killing players, not when they're easy enough to avoid and escape from.

My current goal in-game is to set up a string of tents along the coast and fill them with food and medical supplies for new spawns to help themselves to. They won't ever see me and that's pretty much the point. It's always a risk to help people face-to-face (although I will if I feel it's safe to do so) so this is the next best way. I've also spent time roaming the north, finding tent cities and dumping all the weapons and ammo in them into the woods to despawn.

DayZ is a sandbox and the things we do make a direct difference to the way the game plays. Oh, and I still come across other lone-wolves out in the forests who don't shoot straight off. Sometimes we go our separate ways, sometimes we'll trade beans and kit, and swap news of the places we've recently been to.

TBH it takes a lot more balls, patience and personal skill to play friendly than to go kill on sight semi-bandit. I think that's another reason why so much deathmatching goes on.

The barbed wire is also currently bugged so you can use V and just vault over it, I do it every day when the server I am in has tried to block off all the buildings in elektro.

Where do you even get tents? I have found 1 tent so far and it was in a random house inland, I could not place it anywhere at all, it just kept asking me to drop it on flat land or clear area even though I was clear of any obstructions.

I like your idea of setting up tents for new players, I would do that but first I want to find a tent for myself!

Also to the person who said that surviving in a group was easier, if you are getting involved in PvP a lot it sure is easier to survive but if you go lone wolf then you only have yourself to worry about. Once you hit the countryside and you have matches, hatchet, knife you can live off the land pretty easily and only loot towns when you are desperate for ammo.
