I like your idea of setting up tents for new players, I would do that but first I want to find a tent for myself!

To tell you the truth the tent I'm carrying at the moment is the first one I've ever found ;) I found it in one of the supermarkets in Berezino, couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it there. I was even more shocked when I found two more in the same supermarket! I would've taken all of them if they didn't take up so much room in my bag. You know how it is lone-wolfing, you feel naked without an ALICE pack full of bandages, painkillers and morphine ;)

    It's simple

For a lot of people it's simply more fun to kill a more intelligent opponent not to mention more rewarding than a bad AI with bad pathing. The AI is emotionless, it doesn't care about getting killed/defeated. When I started two weeks ago I was meeting more friendly players than now but it's not hard to see why it has changed into what it is now. The game in its current form isn't sustainable over a long period with just co-op. That's not even mentioning the mod itself does everything it can to discourage random grouping.  Regardless if you are that special somebody who can play the game like that, forever. Otherwise things wouldn't have escalated into one big kill fest

Adapt. I kept playing, getting killed, farmed and hiked everywhere just to get my hands on a decent scoped weapon (the hunting rifle found in barns just doesn't cut it). Now I hunt bandits that stalk the cities from ridges and feels safe from a 1000 meter distance. It's not really that difficult. Just scout the obvious spots with good views over the hospitals/firestations and chances are there will be a bandit lurking in a ghillie suit.

I've upgraded my DRM, gotten a gps and a few other items this way

Well I've almost stopped playing DayZ, mainly because the current mechanics makes it so very pvp oriented and because the bugs and instability issues make the hardcore nature of the game more of a pain in the ass than an actual challenge.

Don't get me wrong, I love pvp and I love hardmode. It's just that DayZ has the potential to be much more than a buggy deathmatch arena, but atm it's not really fulfilling that potential since it's kind of in-between genres; if I want instant action I'd much rather play M&B or some shooter, and if I want time-consuming char/gear progression I'll play an MMO.

Oh well, I guess I'll be back for the beta.

    Things are still very wonky.

I agree that all you can do to try and change the general deathmatch type game is to buck that trend and do something different, I have only ever found one scoped gun though so that makes it a lot harder to stalk some bandits.

Zombies are still seeing me through walls and hitting me through them and I am still bleeding after one single hit.

Loot seems wonky too, I have found so many empty cans I could fill a few shopping trolleys and cover my real life wages for a week.

Still love the game but playing it less and less until a patch comes to fix a few of the ultra frustrating issues. Until that point the easiest way to play the game is to join in the banditry, spawn, run to cherno/elektro grab a gun, start killing people.

I have found the easiest way to get a start in the game is to run in to elektro, find a gun, sit in the building opposite the supermarket and school, just wait on someone that looks like he has nice gear, kill him in an ambush and then disappear in to the woods and start exploring.
