and whered u get those specs way before BWE#1? because I been following the game a very long long time and they never officially announced the specs till lately on their site.
This. The system requirements had been announced before the prepurchase was possible.
Also if you have an ancient computer it's common sense that you would look at the system requirements. Not checking them is entirely your fault.
I am using a laptop for PC games which I can't play on my console because I am a student. I also ALWAYS go for Intel + discrete Nvidia videocard. I never get any integrated video cards, I never use AMD or Radeon. For me AMD is a poor man's intel and Radeon is a poor man's Geforce.
@people who are quick to recommend a desktop. Do you think people buy laptops for lolz? Everyone knows that PCs are more powerful. I am well aware that for 1200 pounds I spent on my laptop, I would have gotten a PC which can play most games at extreme. But 99.99999999999999999999999% of the time when someone is using a laptop there is a very good reason so you critising laptop users and recommending desktops is just a waste of forum space.
I have never seen so many threads complaining about an MMO performance. GW2 certainly gets too many complaints in this department. Age of Conan is the other one which most people moaned about. Although I am very surprised at GW2's optimisation so far. GW1 was also one of the prettiest MMOs when it came out but it ran very well on a large range of computers. GW2, not so much.

Originally posted by spankybus I would do a refund on principle...you can always buy it again later once you have the proper hardware. If there really area lot of people with this problem, the number of refunds might change antes mind.
Refund for what reason? They have posted minimum and recommended SPECS for a while now, way before BWE#1 started. If the person's hardware doesn't meet or match those, and they still purchased the game, who's fault is that? It's like buying a car before doing your driving test for your license. That's only the operator's fault, not the developer's.
What you can't get a refund even if the buyer made a mistake buying said product in some fashion? Wow Walmart has it all wrong then. The game is not threatened by a person getting refund.
From the evidence I've read, the specs HAVE changed and to my view haven't been updated at the official locations. That is where the OP got caught, no real shennigans going on here. At one point he could, where now he can't.
As for thinking a Intel Chip shouldn't be expected to work with 3d games, it still does with many and if it's in the requirements, so be it. Now would I expect a new highend game to work? I would be very careful, but then again the OP probably was when he first tried it out.... AND IT WORKED.

Why not consider it as being accurate for many instead? That is my main issue with the game, period. If I were to complain about one thing it would be this, then the major skill change from GW1. GW1 didn't have this level of compliants about performance because.......... it didn't have an issue with perfromance. Point is, you read it a lot because it's real for many. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sometimes people have to use Laptops, i get the whole student thing at Uni etc, unfortunately, those laptops with the 'built in' graphics, while their okay for watching video streams etc, their not really meant for gaming, so usually handle it very badly, and Arenanet did give plenty of heads up about the graphics requirements, the thing about beta's is, their gradually adding more and more features etc into the game as they progress towards release, in terms of stability etc, making sure each feature works and doesnt compromise another part of the game, which is probably why the guys laptop was 'okay' to begin with, but at some point was no longer good enough, its a shame, but, its hard to justify the complaint given that the information given out before pre-purchase even, stated that his laptop didnt have the capability of running the game. I am not advocating he gets a desktop, although that would be probably cheaper than getting a laptop that met 'minimum' spec's for the game. I would add though, that GW1 graphics do look more than a little dated, which is something that GW2's graphics do not.. on the plus side though, his laptop can probably run WoW okay

I was refering to GW1's graphics and system requirements at release relative to GW2's graphics and requirements today. GW1 can run on a microwave today What is really disappointing is that GW2 run on low is just too ugly to look at. It's unplayable if you ask me. If your computer can run GW2 well on low, GW2 will look much much worse than other MMOs would look on the SAME PC, e.g. WoW, LOTRO etc. So basically if you say you computer runs LOTRO on high but GW2 on low, LOTRO will look much much better.
