Why in the world would it sell more in the first month, than in preorders, when did that ever happen - first month more than preorders? Name a game and link to article about it's sales. If you predict you base it on something other than your hopes..
This site is the only site this game is so hyped on. Other mmo communities aren't that exited about it, and I don't really think it will get more sales than first one did. Since people have expectations that are way to huge for the game to handle, and they claim it's gonna keep them busy for years, after playing only few days in betas. When they'll realize it is just another good game, not super dream ultimate miracle, then the hype will go away and sales will slow down.
I won't buy it, didn't find nothing special in it, I still think it will do better in sales than any other latest games, but not milions of bilions of gazilions of copies, wake up... 2-3 milions
I´m gonna be a smartypants here and say more than 2. Because I bought one for myself and one for my GF. So they already sold more than 2 that`s for sure.

Don't you get a free copy of GW2 if you do an annual GW1 subscription ? That should push Dia... hmm... GW2 sales. Too bad you can't subscribe to GW1....
Beside that I don't see any reason why I should care as long as they sell enough boxes to keep game running and finance future expansions. Which should already be the case with existing purchases and preorders.
1-2 million, possibly after 2 months, but no more.
By the end of the year it might have shipped close to 5 million copies, but I'm predicting closer to 3 million.
I'd like to see it do 3-5million in 2 months, but that's completely unrealistic, and I'd like to see it reach close to 10million within a year, but my dog would sooner legally drive a car before that happens.
I think 3million..ish will be around the 2 month mark. Also on your dog legally driving...that DMV test is tough so when he gets his license tell him to come over. I'll have my monkey butler Mr. Worthington make us some mean blue berry flapjacks

Diablo was released in Asia from the start. GW2 won't. Diablo also has a much larger market and fanbase as well as advertising. I don't think they are even comparable. I would say that GW2 won't sell over 2 or 2.5 million in the first two months. I remember a similar thread in the SWTOR forums not all that long ago with people making wild predictions.

Nah, they have already almost sold a million prepurchase copies so 1 million is far to pessimistic.

He asked for a game with less pre-orders than sales and he got it.
Besides that, yeah, Diablo 3 is a bit of an abberation anyway. But I could still list a bunch of games with more sales over the first month than pre-orders. It happens all the time.
The fact that they've already sold 1 million + pre-purchases is pretty amazing considering some people have already predicted under 1 million in this thread. 3 million is probably reasonable for the first 2 months, but you never really know with these things. Speculators are constantly wrong and certainly forum posters like yourself and myself are often wrong.
2.5 million is the highest unless it really catches on in the general gaming community.
SW:TOR had Star Wars, tons of hype, a HUGE advertising campaign, like a million pre-orders, the fact it was a Bioware game and sequel to 2 hugely sucessful RPGs, and *it* sold a couple million copies.
preorders figures do not matter as most just do it to get a free look into the betas. as for predictions since swtor has launched you guys have talked about gw2 being the second coming of christ and after playing beta myself its nothing different than any other mmo out.
when tsw launched it was about 1.4m and while there is more buzz around gw2 i still cant fathom this game getting above 2m at launch. i also feel though i know most cant see it cause they are giddy about a new mmo that this game will at about 1.4m subs which still isnt bad but its not gonna topple wow as some say. it will indeed find its place amongst the mmoverse but i just dont think its quite good enough to topple wow or go above 2m subs average.
to bring wow numbers an mmo is going to have to in a sense reinvent the mmo world with new technologies so ground breaking that even the pope would play it:)

the game hasnt been released yet. preorders are not paid off most places you put 5 dollars down and reserve it also im sure 3-4m copies will be sold within weeks but when i refer to active subs....accounts im talking after the first month or so when things settle. it will retain about 1.4m actives also keep in mind that its hard to track a ftp mmo on actives as most companies consider logging in once in 6 months active.... again i know you all are hyping this up to math or shatter wow numbers but truth be told this game dosnt match up to what it would need to topple wow......and no i dont play wow nor am i a wow fanboy i play several mmos atm and gw2 will not be one of them

Diablo 3 had over 2 million pre-orders.

Diablo 3 sells 6.7 million in the first week not including units sold through 1 year sub of World of Warcraft.

I say 2,5 million copies after 2 months.

10 million by the end of the year.
Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need.

+1
EQ2 fan sites
Doing my Math this would mean that GW2 with 1.4M preorder/purchases would sell 4.5M after the first week.
But then the brand of Guildwars is way les known yet then any Blizzard game...
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
If we are doing the Price is Right version of closest-without-going-over, I choose 1.
Too many "I love this game so it will sell a ton" stats here.
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
It has already sold more than that.
Like every other AAA title it will sell millions. But after the first few months it will lose the vast majority because it isn't different enough.
god i hope not, you'll have every douchebag playing the game then.
