    PvP spectator was not going to be added at launch anyway. It was known even before the beta events started.
     Neither was Polymock for that matter. I'm actually surprised you even added it to the list as it was probably one of the least popular features in GW1.

    Annual events shouldn't even be on that list. Would you consider WoW not finished if it lacked Brewfest?

    Better read the OP. All core systems in place. Talking post launch features. He asked me about unfinished features. GW2 is not less of a game without these. It's just that the vision of GW2 has not been fully realized yet.

    Could all the fanboys read the damn post and not just the title. Put some effort into it.

    I don't mind this, if this is the case. There is no sub-fee and that is enough for me. I would have a problem when there would be a sub-fee and they were realsing incomplete product only that ppl were waiting and keep paying till they kindly add more futures.

    PvP Spectator is something that's not nessessarily part of the game in general.  Essentially it's not playing the game but watching someone else play the game.  I'm sure it might come in there in the far future, but not soon.   Really, League of Legends took over 1.5 years to get their spectator mode in there.   And WoW never had a spectator mode for TBC, or I think for WotLK either (come to think of it, do they have one at all?)  I don't think they have it for their upcoming pet battles in the Panderia expansion, though they said they're working hard to get it in (found an old quote from last year through Google).

    Polymock is going to be in.   Just because something is not accessable during a RESTRICTED BETA doesn't mean it's not in, just means that it's not available to the public yet.  I mean, the same thing was said for the Asura and Sylvari saying that "they're not done, the game's not ready for release" that was after the annoucement of the Release date but before they mentioned that both of those would be playable in the BWE#3.    Same with Shooting Gallery, it was a locked mini-game as well.  They gave us a taste of the mini-games through Keg Brawl, but they're trying to keep some things a surprise.

    GW2 Annaul Events?  Really, you're complaining about not hearing about annual events for a game that hasn't launched yet?  Just look at the End of the Beta events for any direction of what might occure.  In less than a month they were able to get something like Hunger Royal together for a 1hr event after a 3-day weekend.   I'm sure that's just a single taste of what's to come for future major in-game events.

    Anything else?   And please, don't say "customizable UI" or "dungeon finder" or any other generic WoW-like features that people beg for from other games that we already know are NOT going to be in this game.

    Cheers!

    Obviously no mmo is ever finished at launch. But I do agree with the OP, I think what we have seen and will see at launch is just the beginning for GW2, much like WOW and Rift. As to why mentioning this as opposed to leaving it to realm of the obvious is because of a game we all know very much about... SWTOR. Just like all other mmos, SWTOR was not finished at launch, everyone knew there would be updates, but I don't think everyone was ready for the epic calamity SWTOR would prove to be... sad though.

    The only time an MMO is ever finished is when the last server is shut off. MMOs are always a work in progress, with features being added, taken out, content being added or changed or deleted.

    Considering the content already in the game I think they are releasing at the best time possible.

    Everything you need to know about Elder Scrolls Online

    Playing: GW2
    Waiting on: TESO
    Next Flop: Planetside 2
    Best MMO of all time: Asheron's Call - The first company to recreate AC will be the next greatest MMO.

    In answer to the OP:

    1) Every MMO launches unfinished.

    2) Yes, GW2 is launching without a few important features. However, none of these features are essential to the game as it exists currently.

    3) Probably the most important feature missing atm is a spectator mode (as they are pretty adamant about having a sPvP e-sport scene)

    4) When it comes to the systems that really matter to this game's playability, it is more than ready to launch.

    There are definitely features to be added later, but this game is definitely ready to launch. It's already more polished and feature complete than the vast majority of MMOs on the market currently.

    Its an mmo they are never finished, and there is nothing that they have pulled from the game to have it done by the 28th.

  • HorrorScopeHorrorScope Member UncommonPosts: 599

    People are so literal. I can't imagine anyone would think a mmo is totally finished at launch.

    It has to be read is it really ready for launch? We shall see. They had work to do after BWE3 (they would be the first to tell you) and imo a person isn't honest if they don't feel that is correct. So if you aren't done, then you ahem aren't really done ready, yet.

  • CorehavenCorehaven Member UncommonPosts: 1,533

    Well, for me it will probably be finished.  Because regarding mmo's or just about any game, "finished" to me means that it is:

    * Very Playable

    * Fun

    * Not bug ridden

    * All promised release features are present and working

    *Game world and zones feel alive

    So if it meets that criteria I'll consider it "finished" or rather "Finished regarding release".   It seemed that way during my one and only recent Beta weekend.   Although I know I didnt try out or mess with all all features by far.  I just ran around and did random PvE stuff and explored.  Yet I sure did have a decent time.

    Well, after all the time I have played on the 3 beta weekends the game look fine, some bugs, but computer software always have bugs....

    An MMO is never finished.

    Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

    i think the higher lvl zones will be bug ridden.

    OP is true but, the game has to be released in order for some of the content to be added. For example Anet need the meta game for competitive PvP to settle in order to design more pvp types and maps, also they need to monitor the growth of guilds to make guild halls more useful. I bet lots of other content depends on the feedback they from the players after launch.

    Maybe.

    The Asuran and Sylvari zones weren't publicly beta tested before last weekend, and I didn't find any bugs. I'm sure they probably had a few, but whatever they were they weren't glaring.

    If they can get that kind of polish from their internal testing / QA team, then there's a fairly good chance their other zones will be in a good place for launch. Will just have to wait and see, though.

    I hope they polish some proffesions, mesmer / thief / eng in particular...

  • KenFisherKenFisher Member UncommonPosts: 5,035

    Expansion packs.  They might be leaving room for improvements in the form of purchasable content.  This would fit with the business model.

    The first GW had actually patches that added content.

    Factions and Nightfall weren't expansions, they were stand alone games that didn't need each other or prophecies to run.

    Eye of the North was the only expansion.

    I too can't wait for future patches (Guild Halls, Personal Housing and so on). :)

    OP no MMO is ever truely finished. It is how they add the needed content after the game comes out that matters. I think this game has a lot to do. I wouldn't be surprised though if they actually decided to add raids down the line. Face it some people do like them. I think overall they have a lot of content to release I just hope people are not bored with it in a month. Although the WvW I think is going to be awesome. Probably where I will spend a lot of time that is always fun taking keeps from eachother and running around looking for some 1v1 action.

    One thing I do hope they fix for launch was the lag in the WvW. It got bad on the last night we were playing. I am sure with a month to  go they will have that optimized so there isn't lag like that. Everyone was feeling it. I am sure it was like a stress test so they will have it fixed. Other than that I look forward to the content I think its pretty sweet they will have an underwater world.

    Isn't personal housing already in the game? Or am I wrong?

    Home instances are in game (a whole district of a town), not personal homes. Home instance changes based on your personal storyline, however you do not specifically have your own house that you can interact with.
