I hope it gets better than what i have seen so far.

In last weeks beta i was turned in a cat and hunted rabbits, i had to feed cows, i had to follow some wolf around to get credit for quest, and i had to pick up eggs off the ground and put them in a nest.

these are just the stupid ass quest that i remember, there were many more.  please tell me that this isnt it, these are some of the most care bear quest i have ever seen in a game. most of them i didnt even have to kill anything.....

Because having 2000 "kill x and report back to me so I can send your ass off to kill y and report back to me again" type quests are less "lame" and so much more fun.

Yes, there are "kill" type quests in the game. Of course you could have tried another race or progress beyond level 1.

you never made it very far into the game I see.

Would it make you feel better if I told you that once you hit level 15 the quests get alot more brutal, like killing a veteran boar so that you can spread it's entrails into ettin traps and once you've gathered 20 ettin heads you can return them for rewards?  Or like the questline in the personal story where if you don't save your friend Yulanda and choose the path of revenge, she ends up being tortured, raped and killed? Or the quest where you light a centaur village on fire and you get to watch them run around screaming until they collapse into an ashen heap?  None of them happen, but the quests do get better.

Did you do the one where you have a snowball fight with two children?  That was pretty fun and memorable for me.

You dont have to do all quests/hearts/events, if quests dont suit your epicness you can pass them and move on.   there are more then enough epic quests

Except for your personal story quest, but those are supposed to be epic in nature

But then maybe you should go and play an awesome game like Asherons call

I think you're not understanding the point of the design of the quests, they are to put you in a different perspective, viewpoint and take you away while breaking up the pace of the quest.  I'm not sure how much you played but there were some amazing quests that just epic in terms of battle, pacing and perspective.  The changed from having to group to soloing, to finally the climax which was a boss fight and a great story set with it.   The egg quest also led to the riddle quest was an excellent way of getting the player to stop and think and not just spam kill everything in sight.

Like every quest in any game there are only so many permutations of what can be done but how they are paced out, the difficulty they are set at and the way you experience is unlimited but limited only by the imagination of the developer.

those all sound like the Renown Hearts.  i find most of them boring and trivial.  Some of them are creative and fun,  but for the most part they suck.  most of the zones content is dynamic events.  i found the best way to play is to pick a direction and go explore.  this may not work for you but it helped me alot.  the hearts are there to guide players to differnt parts of the map.  the level 80 zone doesnt even have these hearts.  really other than these hearts there ae no quests other than the personal story.  go explore and find evvents and happening the game plays much better that way.

I am really looking forward to these epic quests in gw2 which i have yet to hear about. Maybe a murder conspiracy quest. Who killed the rabbits? Was it the centaur or the boar???

Almost every heart i did you can progress the heart by killing some thing i did 3 of the start zones completely char, human and sylvari. You just have to find the right mob to kill for it in the level 30 zone i was in there we're 11 hearts and like 22 wave points it seems as the level up you get less and less hearts and more dynamic events. A lot of people don't understand hearts are a good way to easy you into the game at the same time you're not being forced to do any hearts you can level just fine without doing them. I leveled more off dynamic events then i did doing hearts if you get bored of doing hearts or dynamic events go explore you'll be surpised what you find.

Players have been saying this since very first beta that starting areas are weak and doesn't give a good impression to the players. MMO should grab you frol level 1, you don't have to reach lvl 15 or 20 to start having fun.

i just hoped it got better after the starter zones thats all, i did 3 starter zones for different races and my god those heart quest things were really stupid.

The quests aren't that bad though. It is better than just having constant kill quests which then just feel grindy. At least some of these other quests mix it up a bit.  Killing X amount of rats to collect Y amount of tails gets boring.

    1) You are level 2 when you get out of the tutorial. So obviously you would have gotten past level 1.

    2) That's what you get for treating it just like WoW. This is not like WoW. You treat it like WoW and the game will seem boring. This game centers around exploration. Renowned hearts are merely a guide to push you in a certain direction.

Well it certainly grabs me much more than most mmos. Although I do admit killing 10 wolves for pelts is pretty hard to beat from other mmos.

Then don't do them. It's as simple as that. The game gives crazy amounts of exp for doing pretty much anything. But from what it sounds like, this isn't the game for you.

I heard similar problems with SWTOR,

"you are still in starting area...get out of starting zone to start having fun."

"Hey guys he is still lvl 2 lol... he is a troll"

    sigh/

dude its the same thing, instead of them saying kill 10 wolves they say grab eggs and put them in nest untill the little bar is full. only difference is you dont know how many stupid eggs you have to pick up.

The thing is that none of my play throughs have been the same, unless I make it the same. Every single time I've played through the human zone so far, it has been a little different. Sometimes it's extremely awesome. Sometimes I've been extremely bored. Depends on what events you come across.

What you were doing were renown hearts. Not dynamic events. Basically you missed out on the best stuff. And no, there will be none of these in the last zone - there are more of these in the first zones, less in later ones, and you do not have to do any of these if you don't want to.

Look for the big orange circles that regularly appear on the map - dynamic events. After you finish the objective, stay around and see what the NPCs do, because more often than not they react to it somehow, and a new dynamic event kicks off. These are what really tell the story of the map, that happen whether you were there or not. And often if you see one, it is in your interest to help out, as you get gold, xp and karma for doing so.
