Higher lvl you get more you have to think while fighting and moving around having 20-30 skill will fuck up your gaming experience bigtime in GW 2.
Most tradition MMO you have like 30-50 skills right?, and what do most seriouse gamers do when they have so many skills?, that's right they make macros so they only have to press 4-6 buttons, see where I'm getting at.
The complexity of the combat comes from proper positioning and skill use. If you notice, a lot of conditions and boons have a very short duration, literally a few seconds, requiring you to use them at a proper time, instead of just spamming them whenever.
Besides that, there really is a decent amount of abilities available at any given time. You have 10 weapon skills and 5 utility/heal/elite skills. That's 15 skills total. Then you have classes like the elementalist and engineer with attunements and various kits and the amount of abilities gets much larger.
