If SWTOR was truly great then it wouldn't have lost nearly 70% of it's subscribers (2.4mil -> ~750k) in half a year and still falling.
Sub fees apparently account for 40% of those losses (according to EA), so what about the other 60%?
Sorry, but when a game which is made by Bioware, using the Star Wars IP and has a blank check from EA, fails to hold on to its subscribers, there is something inherently wrong with the game.
SWTOR may be great for you therefore, which is fine, but unfortunately you are apparently in a vast minority that still hold on to that opinion.
I don't mind holding a minority opinion; majorty opinions are not necessarily correct ones.
Which is why I said it's fine.
The point of my post however was to illustrate that "unfortunately" the vast majority do not think the same as you regarding this game. Something that should never have happened considering the pedigree and resources involved in creating it.
With that twisted logic you might as well go play Pandas in WOW, since that is the only game that may have a 'majority' of MMO players still playing it. No other game does..so I guess all games except WOW are bad....right?

You call his logic twisted. Look it's simple. Failed launch, failed subscriber retention, and now F2P? You can be a fanboi all you like but numbers don't lie.
"I am not in a server with Gankers...THEY ARE IN A SERVER WITH ME!!!"
Some of you guys are really lucky that one of my moderators went through this thread already. No one should ever be laid into on our forums and called a shill or a plant because they happen to have a positive review of a game you don't like.
This sort of unprovoked hostility is not going to be treated with anything resembling lenience from now on. Troll at your own risk.

Mike seriously the game is garbage. i know that you guys get paid to say otherwise, but c'mon for once tell the truth. Tell me with a straight face that this is a quality game.
"I am not in a server with Gankers...THEY ARE IN A SERVER WITH ME!!!"
If it were great, it wouldn't have gone free to play this fast. Not enough content to keep players occupied thus they are losing subs at a phenominal rate.. Not saying it's horrible, but average at best.

This has nothing to do with SWTOR. It has to do with the way you guys treat each other. It just happens to be particularly bad on this subforum (one of our three most trafficked). I don't care if you dislike or like this game or any other. What I do care about is that you let each other voice that opinion without jumping down each others' throats and calling users' integrity into question without any evidence.
If you think someone is actually a shill or a plant, get in touch with me prviately with whatever evidence you have and I'll look into it. I'm not going to stand for users getting this sort of reaction. It's completely ridiculous and drives away potential contributive community members.
I know, I know ... I'm repeating myself in this forums around SWTOR ... but fact for me remain, SWTOR is for my taste best game of all times and all genres. Starting with C64/Spectrum games to nowadays. And besides SWTOR for now there are only 2 other games I can immagine myself to play for lifetime, Rift and Wow. As for GW2 goes, original GW waslost from my radar completely after aprox 1 month of gameplay. But GW2 looks much more promising. I'm also getting my grip on TWS. As long as I have all this good choices to alternate between I'm happy. But for sure hope SWTOR stays for ever and impoves even more despite being already top game. With top I mean overall score I concentrate in single word: fun. Game is fun or is not. Can be dozen of reasons against or pro, but at the end I judge if it is fun or not to play. An fun games are for me SWTOR, WOW, Rift, TSW, .... Very non fun various Rappelz, Aion (despite I liked it for a month or so), .....
1. As a good mmo should, the game provides for social interaction.
2. The class stories are great.
3. Leveling is fun.
4. There is a ton of things to do at 50.
5. The dailies do what dailies should do--provide a way to make the credits you need to play the game. Doing any one of the planets will give you enough for basic game play. The great thing is they don't have to be dailies.
6. Crafting is a blast and is really useful leveling up and providing a starting point for the end game.
7. The Instances and Operations are well made. Some complain they are to easy, but remember the target audience is not hardcore mmoers who hit 50 in a day, but Star Wars fans.
8. Heroics while leveling up prepares one for the end game, and provide plenty of opportunity for social interaction while leveling.
9. Pursuing datacroms is a good challenge for 50s.
10. Playing the GTN is fun and profitible.
11. There are plenty of opportunities for role playing.
12. While the world pvp didn't work out so well, the instanced pvp zones are great.
Overall, a great and exciting game.
1. Ok
2. They are good, not great
3. No, it's boring after the first
4. Lots of boring repetitive stuff
5. Dailies suck
6. SWTOR has the worst crafting system ever.
7. Ok
8. Ok
9. Hm.. not so entertaining, if you ask me
10. Average
11. As in every game, not more.
12. As in about every MMO with instanced PvP
It is pretty average, not more. Once you're through, you're done. 6/10 Points overall.
I used to sit & play armchair critic too, now I just decide whether I sub or not on if I find the game fun.
I find SWTOR fun, so I'll stay subbed & keep playing, on my 5th char on it's way to L50 & my "plan" to enjoy the game to the max has worked out quite well, only fly in the ointment is that there are not 16 character slots per server.
I'm also enjoying The Secret World & while I've bought GW2 I'm not very enamoured of it so far, it's playstyle feels sloppy, story is poorly written, classes lack any sense of a role - hoping that gets better as the game progresses.
Seems along with the OP I am in the minority among the rabid sandbox crew that habitate these forums, but then I don't remember this site ever being referred to as the home of Sandbox fans, haters of all other MMO's.
I really wanted this game to be good. I love star wars and kotor was one of the few rpgs i played all the way through. I just happen to want a quality game for my money. I personally didnt think it was quality. For those still playing. Good for you. I would kill someone in front of their own mama for a good mmorpg. And if anyone testified against me i would gouge out their eyes. I am not killing anyone over tor. Lol.
I recently tried the 1 to 15 trial and enjoyed the game, granted I am a casual gamer and only got to 15. Was going to buy the game, but between trying it and payday the F2P anouncemant came and now I will wait, dont wanna pay now and it be free in a few months.
Becuase of these forums I was really expecting it to be aweful. I can understand someone prefering a more realistic approach in the graphics as apposed to the cartoon style that Bioware went with, but there is no basis for the claim that the game isnt quality, and yes the play style was very much WoW and not SWG but to me thats not a bad thing, I enjoy the line of games that are derived from the MMoRPG model started by Everquest.

Same here. I bought the game and played it for a while after release; I was gratly dissapointed. I used to think of the game as a failure but then I realized that more than anything, SWTOR is a huge dissapointment. I'll wait till it goes to "fremium" and then check it out again; though I have no intention of spending a single penny on the game.
All i see is the tired old list of MMO "features". Quests, dungeons, auction house, daily quests (yuck) and broken PvP.
Add in the fact that SWTORs world is full of corridors, loading screens and invisble walls, then you have one of the most uninspired and depressing MMO's ever to be released.
You see correctly that it has the traditional mmo features. You're tired of playing mmos and want something different. SWTOR producers wanted a game that would appeal to Star Wars fans, and that's what it is. Without a subscription Star Wars fans will pour into the game and be exposed to the mmo world. FTP is the way to go!
I am a huge Star Wars Fan. Played the games, read most of the books, etc. I bored of SWTOR and cancelled my sub. It wasn't enough to be a Star Wars fan, the game just wasn't that great. I really really wanted it to be. Since its going free to play I thought about playing just for the odd PvP and Star Wars fix, but then I realized that this would be supporting this style of MMO and I can no longer do that.
As an avid fan of MMORPG's, SWTOR has many great features that I heartfully enjoy and some that i find incredibly annoying. First, its strengths, The class story is absolutely amazing if you can get passed the obvious linearity of it. The fully voiced questing system is absolutely amazing and I can honestly say that I have payed more attention to the quests that I have completed than in any other MMORPG I've played (looking at World of Warcraft - open quest, accept, do, claim reward whilst not paying attention to the storyline). The grouping, yes I said Grouping, I can't believe how many times in the short amount of time I have played SWTOR have i actively looked for a group to complete heriocs, just to get social points and sweet lootzz. Crafting system, I can honestly say that I enjoy a crafting system where I am constantly not having to scan my surrondings for materials. All I have to do is send away my companion to do it and I can focus on questing and still level my skills.
As for the negative points: Combat, Loading times, lack of environment within the world, repetitive, PVP, bugs. Need I say more?

A plant not as in a sunlight loving ground anchored lifeform, but as in a planted employee who hypes up a game.
