I'm going to use your arnswer as mine as well.
I'm going to third that response.
I'm going to sneak in here for a fourth to this response.
Was in a guild of 25-30 Rl freinds, had a really good time and was late for work.........A lot.
Running through the wilderness with IRL school friends, killing people and taking their loot. Absolutely heart poundingly awesome.

Being in a good raiding guild with a funny alcoholic tank and an incredibly offensive Liverpudlian trying to orgonise an Onyxia run over teamspeak. Good times.
My first online game, which happened to be GW1. No other game has measured up to the first one. I wonder how many others that is true for?

Originally posted by wr036 For all of you saying DAoC, you should definitely check out uthgard.net. Shameless plug, but they offer an Old Frontiers, pre-ToA game. Currently it's just Classic, but I think they plan on adding Shrouded Isles as well. They ban people using buffbots, it's free, there's no /level 20 or anything. It's really like the original game and it's fairly populated, much like the mid-populated DAoC servers of old. Population peaks for EU primetime, where there are around 400-500 players, US primetime there seems to be around 200.
I'm definitely going to check this out later today.
UO it's first year, Shadowbane, WoW in it's first 3 months, GW2 so far (3 BWEs and 3 stress tests), and per nge/cu swg. Those were my favorite mmo moments.
Cheers!

World of Warcraft, I had so many fun times but if I had to name 1.
It was during the pre-WOTLK plague event when everyone was being turned into zombies and infecting others. I was maining my holy priest at the time so my services were in demand, my wife on her druid also. As we sat in SW healing as many as we could they all of the sudden decided to zombie raid Northshire Abbey to kill the new players.
We took action and ran into elwynn forest warning all the new players to either stay away or if to low lvl stay inside the gates. My wife and I drew the line and held the gates on Northshire Abbey alone against the mass raid of alliance and horde zombies. This lasted for hours until they gave up and went back to SW. All the new players were so happy and glad that we stayed to defend them for that long, Id say that was a great introduction to life in World of Warcraft for them, and was my best memory of the game.
Diablo 3 ... finally tuned a arcane orb build that can do Inferno Act 2 well.
You're doing it wrong! You forgot to mention an MMO.
Originally posted by Gorwe Guild Wars. Artwork is AMAZING so you really feel Like exploring some other World. Also, the customizable 8-skill builds were heaps of fun(thinking what goes where etc...). Also not an MMO.
For me there were 4 games that I can say I had an equal amount of fun in.
UO pre Trammel - I loved exploring and collecting. PvP was great fun too. So far my favourite class system to date.
DAOC pre TOA - Amazing PvP orientated game play. Dungeons were a lot of fun. Really enjoyed no instances in the open world.
SWG pre crap - Great PvP and class system. Enjoyed the exploration a ton too. PvP was okay, didn't delve into as much as I could have.
COH - This one caught me off guard, but it was a ton of fun for me. I'll be hoping into it again for a month here and there for sure. The instances didn't bother me too much, though a lot of it was more of the same. The PvP was pretty lame too. Even with the things I don't enjoy to much I really liked this game. Out of the 4, its the only game that stayed remotely true to its roots.
First weekend i had the internet going and played Everquest.
Me and a friend of mine made a wood elf Ranger and headed out into greater faydark. We eventually came to a break in the rocky cliffs around the edge and proceeded to explore. After a few minutes of zoning we emerged in Butcherblock Mountains and dared to walk further into the unknown. We conned a few bats and were welcomed with the message "what do you want to apear on your tombstone", this told us that maybe it would be dangerous to continue.
But just as our confidence was shaking we saw two other players dressed in shining bronze armour, slashing away at the giant bats with brazen confidence. Lets go and make friends with these guys we thought!
Our first question "where are we?"
Second question "there are boats in this zone? wow how much to we need to buy a ticket?"
After the giggles died down and our blushes receded, we followed the path all the way to the docks and eventually got onto a boat. During that 20 minute boat ride we spoke to a few other guys that were sharing the same trip, where we were told that there were dragons in this game. Again we sat at my PC with slack jaws.
By the time we had crossed the world to Halas, we had made many freinds and learnt so much about online gaming ad the world of Norrath,...Even how to send a personal tell!
That experience will never be re-produced and those first few steps will always be my greatest memory of any MMO.
it was my first, and i was addicted for years, it was astaudingly awesome for a total mmo nube. Capital raids in the old world were insane. BGs and arena with RL friends were fantastic. i've just never been sucked into a game quite like WoW ever since.
the only other that came close was MO, for at least the first 8 to 12 months. my first reall full loot, fps mmo and adrenaline pumping all the way. the game was so different from anything else it was amazing. it was also incredibly close to whati would call the perfect "TES" mmo. after years and years of 3rd person, no consoquences, theme parks MO was a rebirth of excitment and adrenaline. so hard to go back to theme parks now....so lame and boring so repetitive.
Vanilla WoW and Wrath of the Lich King! Both gave me some of the best gaming memories I have (second only to Pokemon.)
I didn't enjoy BC at all, and Cataclysm even less.
BUT I will point out I've tried Mists of Pandaria (I'm an annual pass holder) and the game feels like it's been designed for me alone! It's my perfect combination of Vanilla + Wotlk (as as I stated above I enjoy Pokemon, so the pet battle system is a nice addition in my eyes.)
I can see Mists of Pandaria giving me some good memories
Wow at launch, coming from fps's not reading anything about mmo's or wow and running into Astranaar with my horde wondering why they hated me so much. Yeah, nothing beats the early city pvp raids in wow. People were so loyal to their factions I was one of the first on my server to have both horde and alliance and took so much crap about it. Immersion! Aoc dispite the rough launch Tortage atmosphere, Conan's graphics are amazing to this day!

I haven't tried MOP yet just because i do not want to "replay" the game when it launches. I do have some hopes that it will be fun for at least a few months.
City of Heroes, the first few months after launch. Playing with all the costume possibilities and powers for the first time was nothing short of amazing.
A close second place would go to the pre-BC era of Vanilla WoW.
I would agree with those in general.
Thinking back to the best times in games is was all about the people I was gaming with more than the games themselves.. Not just ingame friends but those in a quick pug. City of Heroes enable grouping like that so easy.

GW2 BWE2, so far. BWE3 was a little on the easy side, which i've heard they fixed, so I'm expecting release to be BWE2 difficulty with BWE3 pacing. To me, that = perfect.
GW1 (my first "MMO" experience) and LoTRO were also a bunch of fun for me, but GW2 blows them both away, IMO.
You want me to pay to play a game I already paid for???

Shadow Wars event..truly one of the best times I have had in an mmo.
So many things that happened in that game, just too many cool things to see and do. Could list pages of stuff.
Corpse runs were even fun. The people in that game were some of the most helpful, I have ever played with.
What happens when you log off your characters????.....

The most fun i had with mmorpgs was the first years of my 1st mmorpg.
Everthing was so new and refresh for someone that only plays single player car racing games and shoot-em-ups.
The name of the game? doesnt matter, was the 1st one, was a unique experience...
Everquest.

Guild Wars with a friend. Trolling people with Cripple / slow spells in Faction VS Faction 24/7.. oh the fun
World of Warcraft everything was fun here... just everything.
Exploring the Karanas in EQ.
It was fun being out there with friends and not really having much else to do but pick pocket giants and run like hell.
I miss exploration.
