So by saying "worth paying for" do you mean a game that can keep you at the same level of interest as WoW?  If so, what was it about WoW you liked?

well I started playing wow during vanilla before bc the only game I had played before was swg and it was very different there were tons of quest and dungeons and swg of course had nothing like it I enjoyed the flow of the game was not real easy and very polished with few bugs lots of players etc. But as the years wore on and the xpacs came I started getting bored when lich king came out and the game got easier and content was completed quicker

Yeah?  And people mentioned AA.  Just look at the baby mounts in that game, it's like injecting sugar into your eyes.  I look forward to AA, but it's hardly a mature game.

Or a good game but thats my opinion.  I guess I am the anti-cool kid around here because AA does nothing for me and I actually look, read and watch and see not one thing I either like nor appreciate about the game.  I guess a big part of it is that it looks to be doing to much and none of it the way I would want done.

There are plenty of games out or coming out. Sadly most look only a portion of a game. I am curious about AA and Darkfall 2.0 and some others but i ll have to wait and see how they turn out. I am planning on playing gw2 but i do not know for how long. Beta was nice but of course limitting.

    That's kind of my thought.

At least, when looked at with the understanding that any repetitive feature that is not enjoyable can be considered grinding.

Many people don't like to collect x quests, kill 10 things and run back to rinse and repeat. Isn't that grinding?

Even in Guild Wars 2, their is repeatable content. If one doesn't want to do any repeatable content is that content considered grinding?

Maybe it's getting to the point where people can't repeat content or they consider that grindiing. Then again, isn't any game rife with repeatable content?

I myself like the grind. Grinding out mats for crafting or killing x mob for rare drops. All relates to ingame time that i dont mind doing.

Well, I'm sort of with you. I enjoy the rythm of killing mobs and it's fun with friends as well.

I usually find it challenging to play games that require questing as I don't really enjoy most quests.

If NOTHING in AA does it for you then what does? GW2 withstanding. What were the games that you have played that did it for you?

    I'm tempted to say:

Titan is vaporware.  ArcheAge is an Asian grindfest.

    But instead I'll say this:

The games you're looking for, OP, have not even been announced yet.  Yes, I think we're that far away from seeing what you're hoping for.  In the meantime, I'm going to play other games that come out and seem to offer up something at least a LITTLE different.  If I enjoy them, I'll keep playing them a while and if not.....there are plenty of good OLD rpgs around.  I have a game box in my closet FULL of them.

    THIS! GOD DAMMIT!

I'm reading the forums every day and it's beyond me how come people forgot the true power of WoW. Instead of admitting what was the true nature of World of Warcraft, they talk about mechanics and gameplay. Of course that is essential but the reason why all the people started playing WoW was - THE STORY a.k.a THE LORE.

I must be honest I played all the games as a child. Heck I even keep my floppy discs. I even got all the books. I've read them all few times. This is the best story ever told after Lord of the Rings fantasy wise. They were even about to start making movies about Warcraft.

And this is why people still play it. I'm not sure about the kids tho who haven't experienced the early games but I'm sure they have had interest on what is all the fuzz. So thats why they play it as well. The Lore. Thats the reason people are still hooked up with this game.

Even Blizz made a hint about the end of it. I mean come on - subscriptions in decline? Pandas with no main villain and no plot - they'r just milking the cow big time this time around. I'm pretty sure they are done with this game. All eyes should be looking at Titan now. And I am confident that Blizzard does that. It was fun back then - with the Lich King and the end of Arthas's story. Cataclysm was nessecery because of the "Dragon Soul" wich involved both Arthas and illidan as well as some of the books and of course the Emerald Dream.

So Titan is certainly on it's way. The question is are we about to see Warcraft IV or the Emerald Dream expac. Cause this panda thing is pure crap to be honest. WoW is stalled at this time. Thank god I'm not anymore.

Do you think that baby animals are cute in the real world? Do you think that they are cartoony and kiddie? Do you think it is realistic portrayal of baby animals if they look cute? What would you like them to be other than cute if they were supposed to be realistic? Is it the baby mounts only that make the game not mature or do you have any other indicators?

That's just one thing.  Even if TSW bombs, it's still a more mature game than Archeage - no high pitched anime voices or big eyes or ridiculous armor or animal races.  Like I said, I like Archeage but it's just a prettier Aion in terms of aesthetics, it's hardly "serious".  Not the way I envision the OP's wants anyway.  If I wanted a gripping mature experience, I wouldn't play an MMO.

I actually don't hold out much hope for another good MMO from Blizzard...i think they caught lightning in a bottle with WoW, and there is no way they will duplicate that again....I also fear their next game will be super casual catering to the lowest common denominator of gamers.....Of course they will sell 10 million boxes regardless because they are Blizzard, but I doubt it will be a good game.

    Let examine their track record

    - they captured "lightning in the bottle" the second time with SC2. SC1 is the national sports of S Korea .. now SC2 is the natiional sports there.

    - They captured "lightning in the bottle" the second time with Diablo 2. Even D3, which has problems, sold 10M copies.

Ever single Blizz game is rated highly on gamesranking or metacritics. Sure there are always haters, but with any measure, they have produced nothing but good games.

Probaly not until wow goes under and devs finally relize people are sick of the same generic theme park wow clones that offer nothing diffrent, TSW is the latest in this, friend did like all the missions in 3-4 days, got all the skills for his build, then he just quit, because the game had nothing else to offer that was worth doing. The main problem is that themeparkj mmo's rely to much on questing and pve raiding, pve raiding is pretty pointless without a use for the gear. DAoC did this right by having raid gear be the best gear (before the spell making craft skill), after you get it you can do more pve raids or go pvp with it, the 2 endgames were seemlessly intergrated, this is something pretty much every mmo has failed at today, well most anyway, fallen earth is fairly close to daoc endgame wise. Most mmo's today either have one sort of endgame or the other, and this is their downfall, couple this with the fact that mmo's today are just too easy, and far to soloable.

Make solo be viable but make it much much less rewarding than grouping, kinda like FF11 does, you can solo but its no where near as fast as a group for getting pretty much anything done. If abbysea didn't ruin ff11 i'd probally still be subbed to it. Since ff11 is like the only p2p mmo that is actually worth the sub price now a days, there is so much you can do in the game compared to the garbage thats released today.

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

    A. Proven right (if something bad happens)

    or

    B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!

I'm glad you asked this question, please let me answer it for you, if you look at the top of the page there is a tab that says   (Quick Game jump) if you can't find a game there that you are interested in playing, start looking at other types of games, because you OBVIOUSLY dont like mmorpgs.

Again, if you cant find a game out of the hundreds listed that you are willing to pay for, the issue is yours not everyone elses.

Semantics aside, hundreds of games and none of them look good enough to pay for? c'mon

"When will we get a mmo worth paying for"

When we stop paying for the games that aren't.

    There is NO miracle patch.

95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

    Hope is not a stategy.

yes none are worth paying for to me I want something I can invest my time into and I don't want to settle for one that is not I guess what I want is swg 2.0 an updated version of it with current technology and updated features and most of the games on that list I would not play if they paid me to play them
