I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg
Originally posted by ariboersma no but I wish it would =P It will be the closest to do so but mostly because WoW has already killed itself.. or at least taken a slow poison
That slow poison, as you refer to it, have been changes they needed to make to extend the profitability of a very old game. They are laughing all the way to the bank.
The bigger question for me will be if their next title is relevant or not. They have no better chance than any other company.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
On a personal level, it varies from person to person. On a numbers/popularity level, unlikely/nope.
WoW will probably dwindle over time and after it stops being King of MMOs, there's going to be a power struggle between it and any reasonably high quality/popular MMOs. I truthfully hope there will not be a new king any time this century.
I don't believe so WoW is a P2P game and GW2 is b2p you could enjoy both games and not take a significant toll on your wallets, so I don't think GW2 is the WoW killer and really no game should. Instead of a game being labelled a "WoW killer" why can't the game just be great on it's own without comparison.
Of course not. GW2 doesn't offer much to compete with WOW in terms of dungeons, raids or apparently upcoming world pvp. There is something to be said for multiple factions ona server.
Before you call me a WOW fanboy, I'm not playing WOW and certainly not buying MoP.
Pretty sure we'll know within 6 months, but I doubt it.
More interestingly, Diablo 3's relative failure might cause Blizzard to not pursue a RMAH strategy in WoW, which, imho, they were inching towards bit by bit. Then again, they might still do it in the long run.
EDIT: 2nd Question. Will GW2 force blizzards hand to make changes to their sub model?
I'm not sure how to answer, BUT I do think GW2, if it does exceptionally well, will force Blizzard to put more effort into maintaining their status as king, which will be a good thing for their players.

My theme song.

Not a chance in Hell.

GW2 have killed WoW for me, as in I cannot enjoy WoW after playing GW2. With that said, individual mileage may vary.
Also, in before lock.
No.
I could go into detail but with this thread, that would be a waste.
If it reaches the critical mass neccessary to jump from the "video game player" population to the general non-gamer population.
Which probably won't happen.
I don't think we'll ever see a Guild Wars 2 episode of South Park.

It will not.
I wish it would... hell I wish something would just to stop these threads...
No, and it shouldn't.
As long as it has a competition it will have a reason to improve. The same goes for WoW and any other active MMO.
WoW killed WoW for me.
Looking at: The Repopulation
Preordering: None
Playing: Random Games

Nope. They might increase the level cap on the free trial though.
WOWs subscription isn't the problem. They have plenty of content to justify it. It's games like TSW and SWTOR that have to adjust.
It's unclear how people will ultimately respond to the lack of a trinity as well. Some people love those roles.
Doubt it. WoW has enough subscribers to still make money from subscription fees even if they lose 75% of their playerbase.
The only way I can see WoW possibly going F2P is if they drop bellow the 500,000 account mark, which is not going to happen any time soon.
