I enjoy GW2 am a guild leader and have no intention of leaving but they are really dropping the ball right now. They had ample times to make sure this game was ready for launch , and instead they did stupid stress tests at times when most people were at work. The guild bugs still are not fixed , from beta 1. Build que still drops things your researching etc. The trading post being removed for a very long time , yet the cash shop coming up literally an hour after it all went down tells me something to. All and all while i love the game and the mechanics even the secret world is turning out to be a less buggy launch , to bad to because during betas the game ran smooth as anything. Also people are still having major issues with log ins and getting disconnects ,frames per asecond issues on top machines etc. Its a pretty rough ride right now.

Usually, that option wasn't even listed, but then when it finally appeared in the menu, clicking it did absolutely nothing...
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

I think its because GW2 is more popular, and servers are a lot more crowded than they were in beta. I'd estimate that they have about 10x as many people trying to log in than TSW, and most of these bugs don't crop up until that happens. Overflow servers were a great idea - it's just too bad it was practically untestable, until now.

No my friend, You are playing live.
Yes, but the official launch date isn't until Tuesday. In my mind, at least, this is still beta phase. Or a major stress test, if you will.
And to be clear, I'm not in the game. I gave up buying MMOs at opening long ago, exactly because of these types of quality issues. I let the rest of you pay to beta for me.

More than all the unfixed bugs that the game have now, i care more about the ¨overflow¨ system, 90% of my playtime i was there, and sometimes you dont have enough people to do Group events, or even DE. Is exaclty like any other MMO before where u are doing quest alone, or with a few players around you, and i cant leave the overflow sytem. And is worse because the game is even more instaced and themepark than swtor was. I remember people qqing because swtor was a SPRG game, i have 2 days playing gw2 and didnt have the chance to play with my friends yet or even guildmates, and all because that innovative overflow system.

Can you tell me what quests are broken ? ...I haven't seem any yet but I only have two players reaching 20 and have only covered 2 of the five starting areas

Hmm ..join doesn't work for you ?....anytime I'm in the overflow I just join my friends and away we go ...must be on different servers that you are having that problem
If I had to take a stab in the dark, The majority of these issues are probably around spinning up new "Virtual Machine" servers to handle the increased/imbalanced loads and also getting those virtual servers to all play nicely together.
That's probably why there seems to be more bugs now than during betas and stress tests.
I can kinda understand what they are going through, but only to the extent that this was not unforeseen and not unpreventable.
Taking the conservative approach and "ramping up" as needed takes too long.

I've had plenty of DE's just disappear. Or drop from my log in the middle of it. I had a heard quest reset to the beginning during a transition from overflow. Stuff like that. But see my earlier post.

Plethora really? I 100 percented queensdale recently and I only ran into one occurance of mobs not spawning on ONE skill challenge. I came back later and it worked fine.

You 100% the first zone. That means that every quest is not broken. Excellent deduction.
I have not had a single bug. Everything has worked perfect and the optimization seems to be great now. Overflow is awesome I would rather being playing even if my group is separated then be sitting in a queue. Which is what every other mmo does.
The only problem I am having is picking a damn profession . All of them are to much fun!!!

The original quote makes it sound like people are stumbling over broken events left and right. I didn't say the game has no broken events, I even stated one in my comment! It's just that it is overblown as usual.
Originally posted by Spartan212 I'm having fun. Who really cares about the auction house 24 hours after the game releases anyway? In 2 weeks everyone will have forgotten this every happened
Yep there's bugs. It's not that bad and it's still early access. I think the launch is very bug free and overall great.
Trading post is MIA and a few other things but pretty much great imho. I am too busy to care about crap on the TP at the moment anyway.
The Trader has been down for hours, and when it was up, it was in German on US servers.
Several events are impossible due to nonfunctioning NPCs, key enemies not spawning, or broken mechanics - this includes skill point tasks.
Vistas have become nearly impossible for me. Sometime between the last beta weekend and early access a bug was introduced that makes it so whenever my character is in close proximity to a wall, fence, or anything that'd stop him from walking in that direction, the camera no longer follows the character. This means that my camera is pointing at a wall I touched, while my character runs off into the distance. I have to complete Vista jumping activities like this.
Overflow still seperates parties, sometimes without allowing them to reconnect with each other in the same instance. It reminds me of when I first discovered GW1 was all instances, but only more annoying and non-functional.
Most of these issues are new to launch. Not all of them are due to more players. The excuse "it's just a beta, it'll be fixed by launch" no longer applies.
When the game is working correctly, it's hard to stop playing it's so much fun. It's awesome to enjoy some of the larger boss events. The things that stick out most are either hard to find in other MMOs such as these boss fights, the working together with random people, or are things that dont' work correctly and cause frustration.
Welcome to launch. Honestly is that all some folks do is complain right out of the box? What gives with people these days? They did the same thing in SWTOR. Rant, rant, rant...
I have to agree with the OP. The last beta ran mostly smoothly and now things are a mess. Things aren't getting fixed quickly and if there are server issues now, just wait a couple days and then a day after that when they pick up additional people. The issue of groups being split between overflow and regular servers is something that occured in beta and should have been worked on prior to now.
ArenaNet can't really afford to make a bad initial impression as the company is putting most of their eggs in the GW2 basket. They aren't making expected income on their other games. A great deal of their future income is based on the in-game store in GW2 so when their bread and butter isn't even working properly they are not starting off on the right foot.
The fact that mail, the trading post, and guilds aren't functioning properly should be throwing up some major red flags. These are key ways users interact with each other and having them all down should definitely be lighting a torch under someone's behind to get things fixed. There doesn't seem to be the rush to fix the items that there should be, and status updates are next to non-existent. The people you have playing now are the ones who have been on the ride for this game to go live for a long time, and frankly they deserve better treatment than they are getting.
The game has enough flaws in it when it's working properly, that they don't need to go from hero to zero before they even go totally live.
Things aren't getting fixed quickly? You must be kidding me... I've been playing MMOs, on-and-off, for fifteen years. I have never seen an MMO get fixed as quickly as this. I've already gone through two hot-fixes requiring new builds and every serious problem I've encountered has been fixed...
But compared to the other MMOs I've played over the past 15-years, nobody has ever done it better or faster than ANet when it comes to squashing major-update/launch bugs. There are still beta-bugs in SWTOR and it's 9-months into release. And not to pick on that flop, I've played other games that have had bugs that have lasted for months and years.
You can pick the haters so easy in threads about Guildwars Played from 13 hours 1 disconnection for patch. Did more then half that time in WvW, no bugs evrything worked. Did the last 5 hours in pve, havent encounterd 1 bugged quest yet. Crafting works perfectly. Apart from 1st day problems the game runs as msooth as butter.
Things might change when the real launch come's tough. But who cares, its the start of a new mmo, one of the best i have ever played. A few hickups here and there aint going to stop me from having fun.
100% both Queensdale and Kessex Hills, level 27 atm.
Only bug I have seen is one DE which did not change after the last mob was killed. I believe it was fixed quite quickly however. My guild mates have told me they have not seen any buggy events or quests and they were playing in Plains of Ashford and Metricia Province.
Every bug relating to Trading Post/Guilds has been due to lag or general connectivity issues due to the high server load.
The game has some bugs atm but I'm willing to put it up there with WoW in terms of polish. I've seen more bugs after WoW patches, nevermind expansion, than I have seen in GW2 so far and unless someone can prove me otherwise I'm going to just assume you are lying.

Probably because this isn't 2001-2004 anymore. And yet Companies Still don't get it. With WoW, there was no telling what was going to happen. There were no predictors. Nothing but nothing anyone could have done. Even worst/best case scenario contingencies could have properly prepared Blizzard and of course they were blown away but the unbelievable reality of what went down with WoW's launch has yet to be repeated.
Was there a similar set of totally unforeseen circumstances surrounding the GW2 Head Start? I'm not aware of any
Let me put it this way, bugs that never existed before tend to rear their ugly head during optimization and then launch. Yeah it's great that the system works with a few thousand. Now we have millions of players. TBH, I've experienced more problems in WoW expansion launches than in all of GW2 right now. That's just my personal experience though.
TBH, I think the game could have benefited from another BWE after optimization was complete to squash some of these bugs. It could have been a BWE where they went all out, gave out many thousands of keys. Basically try to imitate launch as much as possible.
Those of us who were in the BWE can say for sure there were pretty much very few problems in the BWE. So these are obviously new bugs that just appeared. But they are fixing a lot of things pretty quickly. As long as people keep reporting bugs, it'll be a lot better when the game goes live for everyone else on Tue.

Um...WoW's launch was terrible. It was bug-ridden and had a lot of problems. Even expansion releases have problems. It's just the fact that there's launch.
You're right it's not 2001-2004 anymore. There are more people than ever that have an internet connection and that play online video games (many thanks to WoW). When WoW launched, they didn't have to worry about the numbers companies today have to worry about. If the game launches to where there are bugs that make the game unplayable and that are known from beta, then there is problem. However, when a game launches and the bugs don't rear their ugly heads until the mass influx of people show up, then it's a little bit more understandable.
While I agree that the game could have benefited from one more BWE after optimization, who knows if that would've done anything.
