Satisfied - as I posted in another thread, my only significant disappointment is that the Trading Post has been broken basically the whole time, and thus we miss out on seeing the economics of the very earliest moments of the game's launch. That bumps it down from "Extremely Satisfied" to "Satisfied".
But everything else seems pretty good (seen some complaints in guild chat about mail problems, haven't tried to send any mail myself though, so I can't comment). Certainly the mood in my large guild is extremely good. Satisfaction all round, it seems!
Satisfied so far... Enjoying my PvE experience with the game and it's great that I can simply take my time and level at my own pace. In-game community on Gunner's Hold is great and the variety of things to do is also great. Now if it wasn't for annoying issues like the trading post and some bugged content, then I may have bumped it up a notch.
Originally posted by Yamota I have only played a few hours but so far the game feels very much like any other ThemePark. Linear and un-inspiring.
That's funny, some of my friends were saying they were surprised how much it reminds them of Skyrim, because you could have a goal in mind, and very easily get sidetracked into all sorts of totally unneccessary but interesting frippery.
Jumping puzzles, random DEs, meta-events, just wandering around and finding enemies that are hiding.
You might enjoy the game more if you defied the linearity and went off the beaten path. Still get rewarded for exploring and wandering around, so it's not like you're wasting your time.
I'm having a great time. I've ran into 2 broken skill point challenges so far, which I was able to complete a few hours later. That's pretty much the extent of my problems with the game. The trading post is a bummer but since the game is literally 2 days old, I don't really see it as a huge issue, it's not like people have lots of gold to spend on the AH.
This game so far is delivering in the fun department. My one complaint was how there are too many people in the world but it is getting better as the population is spreading out.

Haha, just wait until wave two hits!
Just a couple more days and BAM, all over again.
I hope they've... shored up their servers or SOMETHING. x.x

Or you could just accept that GW2 is WOW with a bit more focus on PvP. Not saying it is a bad thing, but telling a player that they should play the game differently is a quick way to make them leave.

Are you sure the skill challenges were broken? People were saying that about a skill challenge in metrica province but it turns out that you need to go into the basement to do the challenge.
The game is not without issues but I've found nothing that would really disappoint me. WvW queues sure could be shorter but PvE isn't that bad this time around. Actually I'd rate GW2 PvE higher than WotLK (didn't play Cata so can't compare with it).
MMORPG genre is dead. Long live MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer Online Cash Shop).
Very satisfied! I am enjoying GW2 alot! I just finished the Wayfarer Foothills by 100% ( yee ) and I am looking forward for the next zones, but also to do more WwW and SPvP.
Almost level 18 btw ! So .. see ya at 80
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy? Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
I didn't play the beta, ended up getting the game since it has no sub. While I enjoy playing engineer.. doing anything that doesn't involve killing or exploring is a pain to me.
I'm not sure what it is but when I want to figure out something like crafting its a pain in the ass. It just seems to be more annoying atleast starting out. Alot of the UI elements seem like eyesores and somethings are a bit frustrating.
So i'm kinda on the whole this isn't my cup of tea, it still feels like a themepark just without the brochure/guide.
watch the crafting videos in my sig.. explains it all, crafting is actually pretty easy and very rewarding
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

Who died and made your opinion "The God Truth(tm)" hmm?
There have been many threads discussing PvE play in GW2 and I'm sorry but the majority consensus is it is not in any way close to WoW in either linearity or how it has to be played.
I'm surprised Yamota even bought the game TBH as he has been a pretty harsh Troll/Critic of the game for months (possibly years?).
If a person wants to play this game in a linear fashion like WoW that's fine it's their time and money although it won't be a great experience because the game wasn't designed to be played that way.
Anybody who makes the claim you did ("GW2 is WOW with a bit more focus on PvP") is either uninformed, horribly misinformed, or a troll. If anything some of the biggest complaints are it isn't like WoW as it is completely missing structured Endgame Raiding and Gear Progression (a feature others love about it, but still...).
So sorry, but you failed in your snarky response. Please try again.
Originally posted by Nevulus if they could jsut fix the lag, and disconects issue. Can't finish certain events in overflow, storyline is bugged wont complete. customer support answer was to reroll and change servers.
I've had 2 bugs, one in starting area and one in WvWvW (stayling alive for 1-2 minutes after death) both times they said for me to reroll.
/sigh
At least in TSW the 0 Hitpoint bug only keeps you alive for about 30 seconds.. Hahah
I voted Satisfied by the way. The game does well with masking many of the older mundane mechanics of leveling and PvE in new ways. I rather enjoy the lively atmosphere of the world also..
PM before you report at least or you could just block.
I gave it a try... got to level 10 and had to uninstall. Its just not for me. I am glad that others are having fun though! I bought it to support B2P. So here is to somthing better comming along, for me at least.
Underneath the thin veneer of "differences", the game is basically more of the same game that's been regularly offered to the community over the last several years. It's unbelieveably easy, players are hitting level cap within 2 days played, overly-instanced, separates the gameworld into mini-themepark areas.
It's got its fair share of technical problems as well. WvW is a zerg, overall a terrible community as well.
Pretty disappointing, "more of the same" for a game that came with a manifesto.
I read a lot. Every day. I'm 51. I've been reading Sci-Fi and Fantasy since I was 10. And I'm a heavy, heavy reader. It would be fair to say I've read thousands of books in my life. I have hundreds and hundreds of books in my personal library. I've emptied branch libraries of their entire sci-fi/fantasy shelves.
All those books are, in the way you're unfairly comparing GW2 to other games, the same as well. After all, they all have pages. THey're all written in English. They have characters. They have worlds. Some have men. Some have women. Most have both.
And yet, clearly they're different... But in the way you look at things... Clearly they're all the same.
waiting so long to complete crafting tasks that i can go cook and watch a movie while waiting
having nothing better to do while not in a dungeon other then gather. so much stuff to do
As for the community, it's prelaunch, and launch day will be no better, but after about a month those people with nasty attitudes or personal problems WILL most likely disappear into nothingness because they usually tend to be the immature bouncy crowd that love to cause trouble and tend to leave for the next shiny that comes along. Temp players really.
Or you could just accept that GW2 is WOW with a bit more focus on PvP. Not saying it is a bad thing, but telling a player that they should play the game differently is a quick way to make them leave.
... I didn't say he SHOULD play the game differently, just that he might enjoy it more if he tried playing in another way.
You're confusing 'friendly advice that might possibly help' with 'telling somebody how they have to play'
What's wrong with telling people what other people have done that have made the experience more enjoyable for them? If he's not enjoying the game ANYWAY, what possible harm could trying something different do?

Haha, somebody else with a library of hundreds of SF/Fantasy books. Good for you! Glad I'm not alone.
I'm surprised Yamota even bought the game TBH as he has been a pretty harsh Troll/Critic of the game for months (possibly years?).
He's done that in other games to, TOR being the most recent. It's obvious that he is a sandbox fan who will never enjoy themeparks so why he continues to buy them is anybody's guess.
I'm glad to see that so many are enjoying themselves. I'm waiting to see how the economy actually works in this game before purchasing.
Wanting to buy middle ground option. I'm not exactly satisfied but not disatisfied. I'm in the middle. Its fun but at the same time I get bored so quickly of the game. The system meant to 'take out' questing is in some ways actually making me feel less inclined to play and get bored just wandering around. WvW (Which my server finally got into) is fun for a little but but just gets rather repetative after so long.
I guess in a nutshell.
Casual Gamer: Satisfied.
Hardcore Gamer: Unsatisfied.
Makes it in the middle of the road for me. While its true a game only tends to go down hill the more you play it, I'm hoping it might turn a new leaf for me stay at least as a game I can pick up and play occasionally, hopefully for at least an hour a day.

Yes, somebody SHOULD do a more long term poll. That's why this is just 'so far'.
Obviously nobody is going to have anything more than first impressions.

Satisfied for now - once they fixed the guild issues, I'll be extremely satisfied.
It's been years I didn't have so much fun in a MMORPG.
If the game seems as linear as any other theme park to you, you are definitely doing something wrong.
Respect, walk
