That really depends if someone is willing to pay a sub if they are not spending any time in the game. $15 is no skin off my a$$ but if I wasnt playing I would have better things to do with my money.
Originally posted by saranya it'll have at least a smidgen in at least touching wow's pinky toe (if it was personafied of course) when anet can rack up at least a $1 Billion in revenue (i'm going easy here and not even using profit) minimum from just Guild Wars 2. Then we can at least begin to contemplate your question.
NCsoft Corporation had 2nd quarter 2012 revenues of $116.6M.
That's 1/10th of the amount of money he was talking about....
Also, to your other post, I lol'd. MoP should EASILY breach 1 mil in preorders, they'd only need to get 25% of current players in the US and Europe to hit that number.
Try hard is try hard man. Not to say this thead has any point to it, I don't even know why you fanboys really feel the need/desire to bring down WoW. You must REALLY hate that game, or have nothing else to do with your lives.
Where did I say it'll top wow or I want it to top wow?
Do you know how people can just make up the numbers out of their bottoms and put it out as a fact?
The issue isn't subs, it's time. You cannot play both games for a couple hours a night, something has to give. And one of those games punishes you for falling behind.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
LOL! Let's start by seeing GW2 topple LoTro , which should be a easy task for all you GW2 fanbois out there.
I haven't laughed out loud this much reading a thread for a while , thanks for that!
Will GW2 topple WoW? LMFAO!!!
It's haven't even sold 10% of what Skyrim sold and Skyrim sales are considered chickpeas compared to WoW. 400 concurrent users as one said against a few million on WoW side? Good luck with that!
Sorry for the typo , must be an insult , 400 concurrent users , where are my manners , I meant 400K! :P
400k on a launch day... with over 1 million pre-purchases ONLY, which means the numbers of sales are even higher... let's see if MoP can sell more than that on it's launch day... Now that kinda brings you back down to earth, doesn't it?
MOP will sell far more than a million pre-orders and day 1 sales, Cataclysm sold 3.3 million in the first 24 hours, Wrath sold 2.8 million in the first 24 hours and TBC sold 2.4 million in the first 24 hours (neither of these expansions were avaliable in china at the time).. I see a trend here?
GW2 will sell well but lets be real here.
I do see it too, the expansion sales are falling... Now over 1 million is just prepurchase, there's no pre-orders, or retail sales yet calculated in those numbers. So, I think the game isn't that far from dangering wows ultimate position like supergamerx thinks it is with its overexaggerated reactions and "talking to the peasents from high ground" way of replies.
You might want to re read that, not sure how they re sales are falling.
I think we can say GW2 does just about everything better than WoW, technically, however WoW has huge momentum from its fan base, years of success, and wide reputation. MoP will sell more, though it may not retain has higher a percentage of players. It will take time for GW2 to build up a public image needed to attract a larger audience, it may have won many from the mmo community but it needs more if you wish to see it have WoW numbers or greater. I don’t know why you would personally, GW1's community was great, and I don’t see how its successor can continue to be with a large influx of newcomers with more mainstream tastes.

Actually guild wars 2 you can pick up and put down at your leisure. Honestly I'm in the middle of my storyline, I did about an hour of 1v1 last night and did some gathering and then logged off for the night. No pressure, no real obligations...just have fun. So you can play gw2 along side another MMO
