Soo.. how many of you with 60fps?

Masa1Masa1 Member UncommonPosts: 318

I'm really curious how other people are running the game.

As for me I'm "enjoying" the game with 20fps. As you can see the game is ugly as hell and graphic settings are the worst you can set.

Empty scenery, no players around (maybe 1 or 2 MAX and they're BEHIND me).. just a few NPCs who are NOT EVEN MOVING and BTW, I'm not moving either.

Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) 9650 Quad-Core Processor,  MMX,  3DNow (4 CPUs), ~2.3GHz
             Memory: 3328MB RAM (DDR2)

Card name: ATI/AMD Radeon HD 4850 (RV770 PRO)

As you can see my PC is not the best possible, but it can still run most modern 3d games with 60fps.. at least if I tune settings down a bit.

Playing game as ugly as GW2 and getting 20FPS is just UNACCEPTABLE. I feel like I've been ripped off by ArenaNet / NCSoft.

In the end I trusted fanboys, ArenaNet and NCSoft [mod edit]

  • I am running the game at 5760x1080 with all settings maxed except post processing (off) and shadows (high).  I get 50-60 fps in outer zones (such as gendaren fields) and about 40 fps in lion's arch.

I am using the most recent 306 nvidia drivers which helps some.  I can get higher than 60 fps sometimes but I turned vsync on as it seems to correct certain artifacts I tend to see.

I understand you are upset, but logically looking at it, there must be something up with your system....Some of the people might not be able to get 60 FPS, but just about everyone has a playable stable game on their hands.

I would suggest looking up new drivers, updating bios, whatever you need to catch up on, then get into more serious diagnostics, such as individual pieces of hardware. their are a variety of tests for those online and free

I have mid to low 30s for my FPS.  Most settings maxed (1920 by 1080 resolution) save shadows and one or two others. I have a Gefore 465 and I'm using the 304.79 beta drivers for it.  When I used the official release drivers, the performance was much worse.

For crying out loud, stop living in the past.  You already admitted it, your PC sucks.  Don't blame the game.  I've got the game on full graphics with a steady 60 FPS, using a mid range system.  You ripped yourself off by not upgrading your PC, it's not ANET's fault in the slightest.

    It's your's.

I do not think driver updates will help as that card is extremely old, it is when ATI was still independant. with GDDR3 512 MB ram I do not know if it even came with shader 2.0 it might have in some series but not sure.

Most GW2 rants on this forum are based on opinions of people that haven't really (or have hardly at all) played the game. Thus those rants are stupid.

However your rant, I do agree with. Anet has done a crappy job optimizing the game, and there is just no nice way of saying this. Sadly. And it's not at all what i expected, because GW1 was runing smooth even on crappies possible PCs you could get. Too bad, since they were promising the same for GW2. It is true, that game looks really nice on highest possible settings (i can play like that) but the FPS count is too low and I hope they fix it.

Right now the game is completely CPU bound, GPU utlitzation is at minimum. And that's where the problem is...

So yes, sir, you have all the right to be pissed off, even tho I really like the game, I do admit that. And I already told them in beta that if they let the game run like this on release, they're gonna go "SCREW YOU!" on alot of people... And I gues that's exactly what they did.

Funny thing tho, there's not many people complaining about it. People owning really high-spec PCs just seem to be satisfied with runing the game at 60-100 FPS, even tho it should be runing with much higher count, while many other people just can't run the game decently.

    Oh well...

I have a older AMD 720BE Tricore. With my current 4870 512 at all high settings, save for post processing which I don't use and I dont use anything but the lowest shadow settings. Stting at 43 to 51 FPS. Definitely working out well for me. However I am running into some issues and I need to update my graphics drivers due to some minor lag spikes due to graphics not rendering quite right. Altogether though good performance on a older rig.

I have latest drivers, I doubt that updating BIOS is going to help.

The fact is, the performance of this game is horrible. The engine which supports the whole game blows quite simply. Programmers who made it only cared about getting it to work, there wasn't enough effort and/or time to get it to work well. It could probably use at least 200 manhours of optimization and even then it would just barely run with 40 fps on my PC.

They wanted money fast so they released the game. They milked customers out of their money already so there's no more need to please those who bought the game, but can't run it well enough. GW2 is finished. At least for those with not super computers.

  • ValentinaValentina Member RarePosts: 2,108
I actually run between 56-92 FPS on average, rarely going below.

To be quite honest 2 days after head start nvidia had released beta drivers with the optimizations in place from anet for GW2 306 version, AMD is always behind in that matter. Also look at his setup its old as gold O_O

I could upgrade... but every other modern game works with max FPS. It's ONLY GW2 which works so badly. Why spend 1500€ for 1 game? It's GW2s fault.

Umm, I wonder if it's that 2.3ghz cpu that is holding your performance back. And what kind of Radeon HD 4800 graphics card do you have? Even with a Radeon HD 4830 you should be able to do medium settings at that resolution. Well at least according to this site http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=684&game=Guild+Wars+2&p_make=AMD&p_deriv=Phenom+9500+Quad-Core&gc_make=ATI&gc_deriv=Radeon+HD+4830+512MB&ram=4&screenRes=3&checkSubmit=#systemRequirements

After today's update I'm far over 60FPS in Brisban Wildlands.

    System: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T ~3.2Ghz // 8Gb DDR2 800Mhz // GTX460 (768Mb) SC SLI

    [EDIT]

Forgot to mention, I have all settings to max...

  • MithrandolirMithrandolir Member UncommonPosts: 1,701

with vsync on I never see my FPS drop below 58 and I stay at 60 99% of the time.

If I turn vsync off I jump up above 70 sometimes, but I prefer to stay constant.

I was using a pretty prehistoric system until launch, and saw a huge jump in FPS when I completed the new build.

i5 3570k (stock speed for now)

    8gb ddr3 pc1600 ram

    win 7 64

HD7850 (also stock clocks for now)

I built this system to OC the hell out of it, but for now I am running everything very comfortably, so i will wait to OC until I see the need to.

I run the game at max settings minus bloom which I hate the look of and I am not using supersampling, I am using native sampling. 1920 x 1080

  • This is a screen shot a took two days ago I run this zone close to 60 fps at these settings.

My system which I believe is at or near five years of age with the exception of the video card (fast card in slow slot so not a huge improvement) is avg about 25 with all settings maxed. It's playable for me but I have lowered the settings a few time when things got too busy. In the next few months though I'll be upgrading the whole system with a new setup that should last me another five years. ^_^

So nope I haven't see 60 fps even if I drop all the settings to their slowest I just about kissed 40 but that's it.

Edit: When I get home I'll edit this post and provide the specs.

My laptop (i5 @2.9ghz, 8 gigs ram, nvidia gf555M) runs at 35-70 depending on action and such. Medium settings. The game still looks good. I do expect to have some issues in high-medium to large battles in WvW, not gonna lie. All in all I am impressed by the detail vs performance ratio I am getting though.

AH - no - it is built on a modified engine that GW1 was built on. It is quite a good engine and versatile.

It sounds like your PC is the culprit not the game. I was running it on a notebook with Intel built-in video and was getting 40 FPS on a stinky intel video built-in on the CPU.

  • bunnyhopperbunnyhopper Member CommonPosts: 2,751

Mainly seen around the 50-60 mark on medium, with major drops when right in the middle of massive WvWvW battles down to 20-30 range.

Mind you that is on a laptop.

    Ati Radeon HD 4850
    6 Gig memory

    Settings everything high.....except shadow off

running between 40 to 60 fps in PvE zone's
running 30 fps in WvW and when super battles start i turn my settings to medium.

Also i OC my Videocard :P

I have vsync on, so it's capped at 60, but yes, I am running at 60+ fps usually. In most areas, I'm always at around 60 except in WvW I dip into the 30's sometimes, which is perfectly playable for me.

My graphics are all on high and I think it is quite possibly one of, if not the best looking MMO I've played.

    My current specs are

i5 2320 quad running at 3.0 ghz per core

    4gbs of DDR3

    GTX 560 Ti

So as you can see, I'm running a high-mid end machine, and it all works beautifully.

That said, I do understand where you're coming from, because I was pretty much in the exact same spot at you when ToR launched.

When ToR launched, I had a 9350e 2.ghz quad core, 6gbs of DDR2 and a HD 4770 and ToR ran like crap. I was distraught, as it was the game I had been waiting for and I met the recommended settings for the most part and it ran horribly, dipping as low as 11 fps at times.

But I bit the bullet and upgraded my system and ToR and every game I've played since then has worked perfectly.

The truth of the matter is, if you want to play modern MMO's you're going to have to upgrade you PC. I accepted that and did it, and it was a great purchase.

If you don't have the money or are unwilling, you'll just have to stick to older games like WoW or non MMO's.
